Ally's POV

I paced back and forth backstage of my school's auditorium. I can't do this. I thought I could, but I'm starting to really doubt my decision.

What if I fail? What if something goes wrong? I'll be totally humiliated in front of the whole school. I watch as the performers before me walk out onto the stage. Once they're done, it'll then be my turn. My stomach began tying in knots. I felt like I was gonna be sick.

"Ally!" I hear from behind me. I stop when I hear my name. I turn around slowly to see my boyfriend, Austin Moon. He walks up to me with a huge smile on his face. "You ready to do this?" He asks excitedly.

I'm not surprised he snuck back here to see me. It seems like something he'd do. Even though he could get in trouble, I still find it very comforting that he's here with me.

I shrug my shoulders. "I-I don't know..." I admit shakily. Austin chuckles and places his hands on my shoulders.

"You'll be fine, Ally. You're gonna do great. I know you will!" He exclaims excitedly. I sigh.

"But... what if I screw up? Not only will I be totally humiliated and get made fun of forever, but... I may never have the courage to get back up and try again. I'll be too afraid of failing again. I might never get another chance to start chasing my dreams..."

I was nearly on the verge of tears by now. I bit down on my tongue. I wouldn't allow myself to cry. Not in front of Austin, and especially not in front of a full house.

"Ally, please look at me." Austin whispers in a hushed tone. I slowly lift up my head and look into his eyes. I love his hazel eyes. For reasons beyond the say of words. Austin tucked a piece of loose hair behind my ear. "Ally, you are gonna do so fantastic out there. I've heard you sing before. Your voice is heavenly. I could listen to it for hours on end."

I could feel my cheeks warm up from blushing. I looked down and smiled.

"And even if something does happen," He says, grabbing my hands. "Just remember, I'll always be here for you. I will help you get back up. But I'll also tell you that you're not gonna fail forever, becuse you are just way too talented."

I was smiling like crazy now. I slowly nodded my head. "Thank you." I say softly.

Austin smiled, then wrapped his arms around me and pulled me in for a tight hug. I rest my head on his chest, listening to his thumping heart. I feel it through his shirt. I smiled. I can't exactly say I'm feeling one hundred percent fearless now. But I can say, I feel... braver. I feel a little less scared of going out on that stage.

Austin and I soon pull away from our hug. He places his hand on the side of my neck and pulls my body against his. "I love you." He says as his cheeks turn pink. I giggled as he lowered his head down and gave me a small, sweet kiss. He slowly pulled away after a moment and rested our foreheads on each other's.

"I love you, too." I whisper. He grins widely before pecking my lips once more.

I then hear the crowd applauding like crazy. We both turn and look at the closed curtains. I slowly walked up and peeked through the corner. The boy and girl on stage were in an ending pose. Probably for a dance routine. I gulped. Any second now it'll be my turn.

I felt a hand slowly place itself on my shoulder. I turn and see Austin give me a sympathetic smile. "Good luck, princess." He says, leaning in giving me a kiss on the cheek. He slowly begins to walk away. Before he leaves backstage, he turns back to me. "I believe in you." He calls. He gave me a wink, then left without another word. I smiled to myself.

"Miss Dawson?" I hear a soft voice say. I turned to my left to see my music teacher, also the person in charge of the talent show, approach me with a peachy smile. "You're up next, dear!" My smile quickly disappeared. I nodded slowly. She came up to me with a clipboard in her hand. "Alright... You're singing a song, is that correct?" She asks. I nod again. "Okay, the microphones are over there sweetie."
