After a few minutes of walking and laughing. the 2 dogs got to the clubhouse, it was nice and shiny, colorful and very vintage looking. the kid felt like he was in the 60's it felt....nostalgic. even tho the kid was never born on the 60's in the first place.
-Welcome..to our clubhouse! Fleegle proudly presented his house to his friend with a lot of excitement. "I will leave the bike right here.." The beagle said as he chained the bike to a light pole close to the clubhouse, "Aaand..." when he was finished he grabbed the child's hand and guided her beside one of the banana buggies. "You will wait right here!" he said a bit nervous. they haven't cleaned the house in months after the movie was released.
The kid nodded and just stayed silent, as Fleegle called for Drooper from the front window. he couldn't hear what he was saying so, he just waited beside the buggy.
Fleegle got drooper's attention and made him a sign for him to come to the window. The lion was confused, but he got up from the bench inside the clubhouse and walked over to the window.
-Drooper...We have a visitor! Fleegle exclaimed softly. "I need you to stay with him, meanwhile me and the others clean the pad!" He ordered drooper.
-And why should i do that? we can clean the pad as you stay with him... Drooper didn't seem happy. the only 'visitors' they had were people who hated them and just wanted to bother them. the beagle didn't liked this response.
-He is my friend's kid! The dog answered. "And he's not scared of us! i want you guys to meet eachother." The dog started talking with his heart and feelings. he really wanted to get those bad memories out of his friend's mind. "Please...drooper.......i would like to show him that we are not..what he thinks we are.." Fleegle placed his left hand on his chest, where his heart is. "We need to stay as the old bananas......we can't let a silly little movie drag us down...please.."
Drooper's frown changed to a sad look. he remembered about every single song, joke and adventure they had. he didn't wanted to forget about those times, it wouldn't be fair to himself...and...it wouldn't be fair to the others.
Drooper sighed 'alright' and went out of the house. he was still not sure about this whole idea of 'getting their good memories back together' but...he didn't had anything to lose. and he didn't had another choice,
As he went out of the clubhouse, drooper saw the kid looking at him with a...smile? that's odd, he didn't remembered how good it felt to see a kid smile at them with joy and happiness. it made his heart beat faster...he felt.....happy. drooper forgot about the whole movie thing in a matter of seconds and waved 'hello' with a big smile and his big underjaw sticking out.
-Oh this is your friend? who got all of those letters? the kid pointed at drooper while asking fleegle. "He writes the songs!" The dog cheered. "Patches...let me present you-"
-I'm Drooper Looper! The lion sayed happily while giving the kid a handshake with his left hand, and taking his hat off and placing it back on his head with his right hand. the kid started to laugh, the beagle tought they were already friends ! Fleegle never saw drooper so happy, this might have been a good idea.
Fleegle smiled as he watched drooper sat beside the kid and started talking. he let them talk while he got inside the house to tell the others and to clean the pad.
-So...what's your name kiddo? The lion asked while he gave the kid a soft pat on the back. "I'm Patches..But my real name is Constanza.." He said a bit shy but happy. he never saw a lion this nice before.
-That's a nice name! but....uh..i tought you were a girl? Drooper got nervous by what he said. he didn't wanted to sound offensive and rude so he quickly said. "Not that i tought you were a girl! i mean-" He stoped and sighed "I'm sorry.....i didn't wanted to offend you...i just-" He got cut off by the kid.
-I'm a girl....But i don't mind being called a 'he'..i actually like it better!...as weird as that sounds.. The kid replied trying to get drooper to calm down. "It's okay. i promise!" He reasured the lion with a smile, Drooper smiled.
-Ha...i like ya'....you are nice! Drooper gave him a thumbs up. "Ya' know.....i know i just meet ya' but.." He whispered softly to the kid's right ear. "can i tell you a secret?" It didn't sound crazy for Drooper to tell a secret to somebody he just met. after all, it is his friend's child. and he was surprised when he heard the kid say.
-Sure!...snitches get stitches...i don't like snitches..they're stinky.. He sounded honest and innocent. the kid didn't wanted to hurt somebody's feelings especially his mom's friends. it would be rude to do that to someone who just wants to be your friend.
Drooper felt secure and whispered "You are the only person a side of my friends i've talked to in a looooong time..." He told the kid with a bit of shame but still confident. "Really?.....i didn't knew that.." The dog was surprised, he tought they had a lot of fans still. after all...they are the banana splits.
-Hard to believe right?... Drooper chuckled. but then he continued. "We don't have a lot of friends anymore.......well..to say it clear..people don't like us anymore.." He expressed pretty sad and lonely. he didn't wanted to tell the reason why but...he didn't wanted to lie to somebody who..again. just wanted to be his friend.
Drooper cleared his throat. "I know it might sound crazy....and..." He felt the lumps in his throat. "i know it's crazy but-" but he was cut off again.
-There's a horror movie about you....i know.. The kid replied with sadness and disappointment. "It's...." He couldn't finish because of drooper.
-Scary?- terrifying?.. do i look scary? Drooper was loosing control "do you want me to get away?" The lion got nervous again "Are you...scared of me?" The kid sayed 'no' with his head.
-It's....sad....unfair...and...really bad.. He answered drooper while looking at the floor. everything was silent, it was already night, the crickets were chirping and the night...was quiet.
-I like you too.. He turned to drooper "My mom told me such wonderful things about you..." the kid looked at the beautiful stars. "But...." He stopped and looked at the theater close to the road. there was a big sign of the movie wich read 'Tra la la Horror!'"The movie told me the opposite..." The sadness was heard on his voice.
-You didn't knew..who to believe? Drooper answered.
