Logan POV

When Andy fell into my arms, her body going limp, I could sense her exhaustion, could feel it through the bond, saving us from the hunters was too much for her. Her eyes closed, the wall of protection in front of us faded completely. Too focused on Andy, I only vaguely noticed all the hunters aiming their weapons at us again.

Is she okay? Alexi linked me.

I looked up at his golden wolf and nodded my head. "She's okay, she's just exhausted."

Jackson knelt beside me, his voice calm as he asked. "Give her to me, I'll make sure she's safe." He had shifted into his human form, reaching his hands for her. I don't want to leave my mate; I only just got her back.

We must win a war Logan, and we need you to do it. Alexi urged me.

Nodding I handed my mate over to her father and watched as he carried her away from the fighting.

The hunters tried to shoot my wolves, but my warriors were faster than their aim.

I shifted and ran with Lex towards the hunters. They will all die for what they have done to my mate.

It took a long time, but we finally won, most of the hunters had been killed or wounded, the rest had run, I turned to my wolves, as they all started to relax.

We had lost a lot, we are all exhausted. Everyone began to make their way back to the pack hospital when I realised one of the hunters was missing. His body wasn't in the field.

"Where is he?" I asked my pack as I searched for his body.

"Who's missing?" Alexi asked me.

"The leader. The one covered in scars. I can't see him." I saw the worry in his eyes as he realised that I was right. He wasn't here.

We were the only two who remained as the wolves took the wounded to the pack. Where the hell is the asshole?

The sound of laughing filled the field, ice going down my spine as I turned.

Before I could react, the hunter pointed his gun at me and fired, the sound echoing in the empty field.

There was no blood, no wound, just pain. How was that possible?

"No!" Why aren't I bleeding? Alexi cried out behind me, but I took no notice. All I could think about was the pain radiating from my chest.

I looked up and I understood, Andy was standing in front of me, her face pale as she collapsed into my arms, I put my arm under her shoulder. "Little one? Are you okay?"

"I'm sorry handsome, I wasn't fast enough." She whispered as her body fell limp in my arms. The bullet had struck her in the stomach, there's blood everywhere, pooling around us.

"Andy? Andy, please wake up! Please"

"Take her to the hospital now!" I ordered Alexi. He took her from me, and I leapt at the hunter, tearing at him with all the anger that was building in me. He shot her, he shot my mate.

The more I clawed at him, the angrier I became. If I had Andy's ability, the whole damn forest would be on fire. He shot her!

"Alpha! He's dead." Jackson yelled, trying to pull me off him. "Stop. You have to stop." I ignored him.

"Andrea needs you." That made me pause, and I looked at him. He was right, my mate was dying, and she needed me.

Andy has been treated in the hospital for weeks now. The doctors said that her body was too weak, that she was in a coma, unable to heal herself. They all think she will never wake up. They are wrong, they must be wrong, I will not lose her.

Not having her curled up beside me was breaking me, I couldn't eat or sleep, I've been a mess for weeks. Despite the efforts of my parents, Alexi, and the rest of the pack, I can't leave this hospital room. I won't leave until she does. I won't go home without her.
