Today is the start and end of mid semester. I hopped down the steps, seeming fitter than usual. Well, I have been for a month now. Nagisa and I have been going out regularly while still keeping up with our grades.
Somehow, I've never thought he'd be good at ice skating, but he's better than most regulars I've seen. He is quit the charmer if I do say so myself, his stupid lopsided grin may also be having an effect on me. It's a good one though, for sure.
Today however, is different. I told Nagisa that I wanted to surprise him with a secret get away. He asked what time I wanted to meet up and I told, "him he'd just know." It must be agonizing for him, to not be the one to plan the date, to be on the other end of the stick.
Well, today's not really going to be a date. I have something different planned, different good, but different only we would prefer. He's going to be so caught off guard, it'll make him happy though, I'm sure.
I seem to be more sure than anything these last few weeks, I'd like to think that it's because of Nagisa and Rio, but of course Nagisa mostly.
After breakfast, Shū and I headed to the car, whereas my father waited until then to say something. I looked out the SUV window just in time to witness a non practiced, non formal, not at all but genuine smile cross my mother's lips. I smile in return, even if she can't see me.
Something has changed, not just in me but in everyone of my family members. Father seems to hav calmed, I'll thank the lord for that one, mother was upset about me calling out my opinion, but she'll get over it. Time is all she needs, after all time heels all wounds, I have my own experience with that as well as evidence from Gakushū and Rio.
In the beginning Rio blamed herself and Gakushū hated her, well I'm sure he only went as far as to despise her, and now they are very fond of each others company. I can see it in Shū's eyes whenever Rio comes over. The twinkle of mischief and familiarity in his eyes, it is quite adorable when Rio returns with her own confident gaze.
In his entire life Shū has only ever hated one person and even that seems to have hollowed down to a small bit of disinterest. Besides the situation with my brother and best friend, in my experience time has heeled my various wounds, that includes my relationship with Nagisa as well.
I think time and me have become very good friends, we now see eye to eye on things, sometimes a little to well. This time, time has thought it correctly of me and to apologize and do something I've been to afraid to do. I now know why I have prolonged it, the simple reason is that it has never been the right time. It however, is now.
These thoughts clouded my mind until the SUV pulled along the corner of Kunigigouka. Gakushū stepped out and walked around to the side to open my door, now he has been trained well enough to be a weirdly great gentleman, but he has never done anything of this sort, because it usually didn't suit him.
Like I've said, things have changed and so has the plot of this story I am living. It's great is it not?
"And what, pray tell brother, are doing this magnificent deed for?" I smiled.
He groaned, reaching behind his neck, and rolling his eyes of to Mars. "I thought I'd accompany you today."
"Well, then." I offered my arm and he took it in his, nodding to my father. I let out a gasp when the ladder drove off.
"He'll be doing that from now on." He whispered laughed.
"Why do I get the feeling you are not doing this for me, but for a selfish reason?" I grin as we begin up the hill.
