florence pov

I kept my wand in my hand the entire way down to the cabin by the lake. I tried hard to focus on where I was running, forcing myself not to think about what I had just figured out, and what I realised I have to do by the end of the night.

Hogwarts is in ruins. There's chaos and fighting everywhere you look. Trolls, fires, massive spiders, house elves with knives? It's all a mess.

It hurts my heart to see such a beautiful place now turned into an explosion of rubble. Hogwarts is my home, and it's being destroyed.

We turned the corner into a half destroyed hallway. Right at the very end was..............Lavender.

Dead on the ground.

Greyback leaning over her body.

"NO!" Hermione cried.

"Stupefy!" I yelled, wand pointed at Greyback. He was sent flying into the hard cement wall behind him.

"STUPEFY!" I yelled louder, with even more anger. He had to pay for everything he's done.

The wall behind him caved in, sending him falling backwards down a hill and out of sight. No one could survive that, and I'm hoping he didn't.

"That's my girl." Harry breathed as he looked out at where Greyback had fallen.

I ran over to Lavender and kneeled beside her.

"Hey, Florence?" Lavender called as she sped up to walk beside me.

"Oh hi. What's up?" I asked, a little confused as to why she was talking to me.

See, Lavender and I don't really speak, besides in Potions class because we were forced to be partners. I actually really enjoy speaking to her. Despite Ron's descriptions of her, I think she's quite sweet.

"First of all, I'm in love with that skirt. Second of all, I know we don't talk that much, but I really need someone right now." She said, looking at the floor.

"Oh of course, what's wrong?" I asked sympathetically.

"It's-it's just, ever since Won-um sorry-Ron, ever since Ron broke up with me, I've been beginning to feel like I'll never find someone. Like everything's my fault and no one will ever love me." She sniffed as a tear rolled down her cheek.

"Hey Lav, it's not your fault. I promise. It just wasn't meant to be." I took her hand. "Someday someone will see how amazing you really are. Just give it time."

Her expression brightened. "You really think so?"

I nodded. "Now, how about a trip to Hogsmeade for a butterbeer? That always cheers me up."

"I'd love to." She exclaimed as we linked arms. "And I really do love that skirt, where ever did you get it?"

Lavender and I did go to Hogsmeade for a butterbeer and shopped all day. We started doing it once every two weeks together.

A few tears escaped from my eyes as I thought back to those small yet special moments we shared.

I continued running on, trying my best to ignore the constant aching feeling growing in my heart.

We finally got down to the cabin by the lake and kneeled down behind a dusty glass wall that no one would be able to see us through.
