"I can't believe it," Aang said quietly. "I knew the war had spread far, but Omashu always seemed....untouchable."
"Up until now, it was," Sokka replied. "Now, Ba Sing Se is the only great Earth Kingdom stronghold left."
"This isn't fair," I muttered. "The Fire Nation always has to take everything, don't they? This sucks!"
"It is," Katara said, stepping forward to stand beside Aang, "but we have to move on."
"No," Aang glared ahead at Omashu before starting to walk to the edge of the cliff. "I'm going in to find Bumi."
"Aang, stop," Sokka frowned. "We don't even know if Bumi's still-"
"What?" Aang turned around angrily to Sokka. "If he's still what?"
"Around." Sokka finished awkwardly.
"I know you had your heart set on Bumi," Katara started, "but there are other people who can teach you earthbending!
"This isn't about finding a teacher. This is about finding my friend." Aang declared and we started to make a plan to get inside.
Apparently Aang knew of a secret passage into Omashu. There was a tunnel that laid in the side of the cliff below the main gate to Omashu. From the noxious smell, I could immediately tell what it was for before Aang opened it up.
"Oh spirits, please no." I quietly begged as the sewage burst out. I shivered in disgust as we all followed behind Aang. Aang had no problem keeping the sewage out of his way by airbending, and Katara by waterbending. I stayed right behind Katara wrapping my cloak tightly around me as I used her as a shield to stay out of the way of the sewage.
Sokka wasn't as lucky, and let us know as he got drenched in the sewage.
We finally came to a stop as Aang found and pushed a manhole cover up. He looked around before motioning us to climb up.
I climbed out, looking over my cloak to see I got nothing on me. "That wasn't as bad as I thought." I thought out loud and Katara agreed.
A moan came from the sewers as a slimy body pulled itself out. I backed away as he walked forward, covering my nose from the stink.
Katara quickly bended some nearby water at him to clean off the sewage, and I used my staff to quickly dry Sokka with my airbending.
Before he could say anything, he started screaming, clutching at two purple bulbs on his face. "HELP! THEY WON'T LET GO! HEL-"
Sokka's screaming was cut off when Aang tackled him to the ground. "Stop making so much noise! It's just a purple pentapus."
"Guys, we have company!" I whispered as I turned and saw three guards making their way towards us.
"Hey! You kids!"
Katara grabbed me and pulled me behind her as Aang ducked and hid behind the two siblings as well. He hid his arrow tattoos with his clothes, making it look like a turban.
"What are you kids doing out past curfew?" The lead guard commanded. I grimaced as I saw the sewer manhole was still open.
"Sorry," Katara smiled disarmingly. "We were just on our way home."
We turned and went to walk away.
"Wait," The lead guard called out. "What's the matter with him?"
We all stopped in our tracks and I glanced back to see the guard's attention was on Sokka. The pentapus had left red suction marks all over his face and neck.
