Ron has been acting particularly weird. He's always up Lavenders arse.

"I can't help it if she's got her knickers in a twist. What Lav and I have, well, let's just say, there's no stopping it. It's chemical. Will it last? Who knows? Point is I'm a free agent!" Ron grins.

I turn to Hermione in the library as Ron goes off to find Lavender.

"He's at perfect liberty to kiss whomever he likes. I really couldn't care less. Was I under the impression he and I would be attending Slughorn's Christmas party together? Yes. Now, given the circumstances, I had to make other arrangements."

"Have you?" I raise my brow.

"Yes. Why?" Hermione scoffs.

"Who are you going with?" I fold my arms.

"Um, it's a surprise. Anyways, you have got to worry about. You can't take just anyone. See that girl over there? That's Romilda Vane. Alex, she's been been trying to smuggle you a love potion!"

"Really?" I smirk. "Wait- but I'm strai-"

"Hey! She's only interested in you because she thinks you're the Chosen One." Hermione leans against the book shelf.

"But I am the Chosen One." I tease but Hermione slaps me with a piece of rolled up parchment. "Okay, sorry, um...Kidding. I'll ask Draco." I groan, walking to find him

I notice Draco was sat outside, on a tree branch. I walk over it him and climb up, sitting besides him.

"Hey." He puts his arm around me.

"Draco, what's going on with you?" I sigh.

"Hm?" He looks at me.

"You're so distant...I hardly see you anymore!" I frown. "What's going on?"

He looks at me, sighing. "I can't tell you...I'm sorry! I really want too! I can't!"

"Who am I going to tell, Draco? This relationship is built on trust! How do I trust you and when you're acting weird and won't tell me what's up!"

He stays silent.

"I was going to ask you to be my date for Slughorns party...but just leave it." I scoff, jumping down from the tree.

. . .

I came alone to Slughorns party, yet I don't know where Hermione is. Or who shes with.

"Drink?" Neville walks over to me with a tray of drinks.

"Neville?" I raise my brow. "Surprised seeing you here."

"I didn't get into the Slug Club. It's okay, though. He's got Belby hanging up towels in the looroom." He smiles, pushing his tray of drinks forward.

"Oh...urm..I'm--I'm fine, mate. Thanks." I purse my lips into a small straight line.

"Okay." He nods before walking off.

Hermione runs over to me, out of breath.

"Hermione, what are you doing? What happened to you?" I scoff.

"No, I've just escaped...I mean...I left...Cormac under the...mistletoe!" He pants, out of breath.

"Cormac? That's who you invited?" I snicker.

"I thought it would annoy Ron the most!" He whines.

"Dragon tartare?" A waiter walks over to us.

"No, I'm fine, thank you." I sigh.

"Just as well. They give one horribly bad breath."

Hermione was looking around nervously when she saw Cormac.
