Laurent was still sitting in the car by himself, breathing heavily as he tried to regain his composure, still feeling overwhelmed by his brothers actions. An intense and bitter heartache washed over him as his tears resurfaced, but Laurent quickly pulled them back as he realised that the pain he was now experiencing was just like that time Larry ended up in a coma... and he knew that if he gave into these emotions, he could end up in a far worse state than he already was. Laurents head was pounding now as his brothers thoughts and memories still flooded his mind and he could tell Larry was not thinking clearly. Laurent knew he had to fix things with him as soon as possible, so he sniffed back his emotions and wiped his face with the inside of his white t-shirt.Laurent tried to manage his breathing as he remembered the first time he ever spoke to Larry, reminiscing about when they were just around three months old. Whatever Laurent had said to him at the time made Larry giggle so much that it forced him to giggle back out of sheer infectious joy. To Laurent, even then, his brothers laughter was the first musical sound he ever heard, and he thought about how it made him feel.
Laurent would remember that feeling whenever he was alone or whenever Larry was mad at him, because it always calmed him down and he knew that from that moment on, Larry belonged only to him and that he would want to hear that sound for the rest of his life, he also swore that he would do anything to make his brother happy.Laurent wished he could feel his twins strength now and hated the feeling of confusion he felt after being forced into a kiss. He loved Larry so much, but he didn't know if he liked being at the receiving end of Larry's aggressive affection. He wanted to forget it all, the confession, the argument and even the cold expression on his brothers face, but Laurent worried that Larry would do something reckless now, because he knew that the tone of Larry's final words before he entered the building were nothing short of threatening.
Laurent thought back to a moment in their past when their former boss and close friend Beyonce Knowles, told them that they were a "special team". She believed that they were exactly what the world needed but she also scolded them many times for fighting and nearly ruining many rehearsals due to their arguments and disruptions.
Once she told Laurent that he was a beautiful dancer but that he always ruined things when he started fights with Larry, but it took Larry yelling back at her Infront of everyone to make her see the truth.
Even though she was an incredible entertainer, business mogul and a beautiful person that everyone respected, Larry showed Laurent and everyone in the room that he would stand up for his twin even against a queen of industry like her.
Laurent thought that they would get fired but surprisingly Beyonce just wanted to know why he would defend his twin when he was the one who started the fight and what Larry said surprised everyone, including Laurent.
Larry told her that they had to fight... he said that they needed to get it out in order to move on, that it made them stronger and that every fight came from a place of love... he said that fighting with his brother meant he still cared for him and he knew that the day Laurent stopped fighting, would be the day he didn't love him anymore. Beyonce was obviously shocked at his response but since then, she's never questioned them and always treated them with love and respect back. Laurent wondered if the sudden memory was his own or if it was Larry's.
For as long as he could remember, people always compared them to eachother and many people thought that they were alike because they were twins, but the truth was that they were nothing alike, they were as opposite as night and day, it's just that their connection made them closer than anything. Obviously being close was a major contributor to how they worked together, but Laurent knew that they both wanted to be seen as individuals too... at least he did, that's why they worked so hard and tried to do things separately and even though he knew that without his twin, he was nothing, Laurent still desired to be himself and live his own life... but what if that desire was what caused him so much pain to begin with?... And what if Larry's been the one sheltering him from it all this time?
He knew that he was stronger with Larry and felt empty without him, yet he never thought it was anything more than a twin thing so he still tried loving Jessica and he still tried having his own friends, heck he even tried living on his own when he was younger and got a job at the local street circus in Paris, but none of that worked out, because his twin wasn't by his side... In the end it was Larry who made him feel the most at home, it was Larry who made him believe in the impossible. Maybe it was because deep down, the reason Laurent couldn't live without his brother, was because he loved him more than he was willing to admit.
Laurent never put any value in it before, but Larry has always done things for him out of love... so much that he was willing to be a different man for him, he even gave up his dream of becoming a chef for him and travelled the world for him, leaving his daughter and his own life behind...Sure they both loved to dance but it was really Laurent's dream, more than it was Larry's.
Laurent exhaled and knew that in order for him to love Larry the way he wants and give him what he wants this time around... Laurent couldn't just be his twin anymore...and although that thought scared him, he had to admit, for everything his brother has done for him, he had no valid reason to reject his twin other than the opinions of others getting in the way.
Laurent knew that he had hurt his brother's feelings but he also needed to focus on the evening and get the job done for Diesel.
So he took another deep breath, cleared his thoughts and tried to ignore the pain still shooting through his body and got out of the vehicle. He walked over to the driver's side door, collected the car keys that Larry had just left there and locked the sports car, taking the keys with him.
When Laurent arrived at the party, he saw many familiar faces as well as a few celebrities that were waving at him, trying to start a conversation... but he was so focused on trying to locate his twin that he barely spent any time talking. He needed to fix this and tell Larry that he would try... He wasn't sure if he was willing to be gay or just some straight guy with a brother fetish, but after hearing what Larry had to say and feeling the amount of pain his brother was in, how could he not reciprocate those feelings... Even if it was just to take the pain away.
Laurent hated that it took him this long to realise just how important Larry was to him. He resolved himself to the notion that even if the world thought they were craze or weird or even something to be hated, he would face it all with Larry and as scary as it was... He couldn't ask for a better partner in crime.
Laurent smiled at his own resolve and in the middle of a crowded dance floor called out to his brother...
Lau: "Larry!!!"
