Connection

Laurent walked out of the Diesel building with a smile on his face, having successfully signed a contract with Mr Delaney. He had managed to secure a million dollar deal all by himself and was feeling pretty good about it. Now all that was left to do, was to celebrate with Larry.

Laurent walked towards his car and was about to get in, when his body froze at the site of a familiar figure walking down the street. His smile immediately faded away and his heart began to clench up as a sudden feeling of anxiety and pain washed over him, his brows furrowed as he stared at the woman he's been missing since their breakup and he remembered the way he felt after hearing those devastating words a few months ago.. "I can't marry you... I love him now"... Those same words played in Laurent's mind over and over again as he stood in the half empty parking of the Diesel building.

Laurent balled his hand into a tight fist as he tried to push his feelings aside and looked down at the ground knowing that he should just drive away but every fibre in his body was screaming at him to do the opposite, because he needed answers and he needed closure and he told himself that he was going to get them no matter what.

So he quickly regained his composure and turned around to open his car door as he placed the folder he was holding under his left arm in the back seat, next to the designer bags he had picked up from Patrick earlier.

Without bothering to lock his car, Laurent briefly checked himself out in his side view mirror, then back at the spot where he saw his ex, hoping that he hadn't lost sight of her but luckily she was still there, browsing through a few clothing items at a random market stall, so Laurent walked towards her, never removing his gaze, and before he knew it, he was running to catch up with her.

After crossing the street, he made it to where Jessica was standing with her back facing him. Laurent stayed silent for a few moments, remembering their past together as well as the last horrible things they had said to eachother.

(Flashback)

Jessica: "I can't do this Lau, I'm sorry but I love him now"

Lau: "Say that again, I think I heard you wrong... You what now??"

Jessica: "Lau... I can't accept this ring, I can't marry you because I met someone else, his name is-..."

Lau: "... -How can you say that shit to me right now? Baby tell me you joking"

Jessica: "It's not a joke, I just can't do this anymore, I realise that you and Larry will always be together and I don't want to share you with someone like him, I see that now"

Lau: "Someone... Like him?, You better be careful with whatchu gon' say next Jess"

Jessica: "See? That's what I'm talking about, you always stand up for him, even against your own girlfriend, Even when he's wrong you always find a way to forgive him... Larry never defends you this way- "

Lau: " -What the fuck do you know about Larry?... Don't talk about my brother like that, this is about you right now!"

Jessica: "Don't yell at me, you think you know everything about him but you don't... Larry has a secret Lau and I can't believe I'm saying this but... I want you to ask him the truth about it, then maybe you'll finally see that I was right for doing this"

Lau: "You wanna talk about truth? Here's something, I don't know you this way Jess... I ask you to be with me forever and now you talk about some other nigga? And insult my brother?? Let me tell you something, I will always choose Larry over anybody, get that straight, you knew that from the start but I still give you my heart and I don't even care about secrets because I know my twin will never hurt me... But you? Talking about fucking around with some loser after I gave you everything?"
