It's been two weeks since Oikawa came back to Japan. He went through what felt like an emotional rollercoaster of grief for the first few days, but his progress had remained unchanged since that talk with Iwaizumi, and it was really starting to frustrate Oikawa. He had developed the habit of going on morning runs, thinking and trying to move forward with volleyball, but every exercise or thought process he tried failed and only left him more irritated as the days went by. He had tried to hide his aggravation from Iwaizumi, but Iwaizumi knew him too well. "Tooru? Can I talk to you?" Iwaizumi called after Oikawa got back from one of his morning runs. They had started calling each other by their first names for an unknown reason lately, but it wasn't completely unusual. "Hmm? Yeah, what is it?" Oikawa asked, sitting down next to Iwaizumi on the couch. Iwaizumi had started his college work again, and had a lot piled up. He ended up being stressed and not talking to Oikawa much, but he always did his best to at least give him a smile or greeting when they passed each other, and was much less irritable than he was in high school. It made sense, though. Oikawa hadn't spent much time with Iwaizumi since he moved to Argentina, so he might not have noticed his maturing, but it was inevitable. They were growing up, everyone was. The only one who hadn't matured was Oikawa. "You've been... a little off lately? Do you want to talk about it?" Iwaizumi asked, his full attention on Oikawa. Over the past few weeks, Oikawa's butterflies never left his stomach when around Iwaizumi, they only got worse. Oikawa paused before replying, "yeah. I... feel like I've reached a dead end. I'm trying to move forward and on from volleyball, but nothing has changed for a while and it's really... pissing me off." Iwaizumi froze, thinking for a second. "Grief takes time, and I know you know that. I understand how you're feeling, but you can't rush it. But, that doesn't mean we don't try," Iwaizumi replies, the last few words with a small smile, "is there baggage you feel like releasing will help? Or is there something you're missing to help?" Oikawa hesitated, before saying, "I feel... angry? At volleyball, for making me miss out on my life... I think. I think I need that life I missed out on." When he finishes, realization hits his features. Those words came out without him really thinking about it; in fact, he had never thought about that before, but the more he did, the truer it felt. Except, that life he missed out on... oh god, it was Iwaizumi. He missed out on knowing and sharing his romantic feelings with Iwaizumi. God, I'm so done. Iwaizumi nodded. "That makes... a lot of sense. Well... I finished all of my homework already, I say we go meet up with Makki and Matsun and take a train somewhere, y'know? Party a bit, just the four of us? It'll be like high school all over again." Iwaizumi laughed a bit, "you missed out on those nights. As reserved and stuck-up I was in high school, I still did shit like that with Makki and Matsun, and I have to admit, it was fucking fun. I know they'll be down, so... you?" Iwaizumi asked. Oikawa gaped, "I didn't think you were the type!" He laughed before finishing, "hell yeah."
Makki, Matsun, Iwaizumi and Oikawa were on the train to Tokyo, the four best friends of the Seijoh volleyball team. They always spent a lot of time together, but Iwaizumi was right. He did decline hanging out with them to practice or think of strategies or watch the newest game with Karasuno or Shiratorizawa, anything volleyball. It angered him a bit, but he pushed that anger down and decided he was going to have a good night. They hadn't really planned this night out, but Matsun suggested going to Tokyo so they could have more options. Miyagi wasn't the best for partying and all of them acknowledged that. On the train, they were just goofing off, laughing at whatever shit Makki blurted out, or jokingly making fun of Oikawa for seemingly nothing- which Oikawa didn't mind, they were cautious of what they said and it was just as fun for Oikawa as it was for everyone else- or Oikawa and Makki just gossiping together while Iwaizumi and Matsun were jokingly flirting with each other. It was just like in high school, and it felt great. At this point, Matsun was running his hand up Iwaizumi's bicep, whispering something in Iwaizumi's ear, who was dying of laughter, while Oikawa and Makki were suggesting things to do, when Makki brought up Truth or Dare. They still had a while on the train, so they went with it. "Hey hey, lovebirds!" Oikawa called out to Iwaizumi and Matsun who cackled at the nickname. They struggled, but nodded and Oikawa continued, "you down for Truth or Dare?" Oikawa had to wait a bit for the boys to calm down, but once they did they both agreed to the game. They played rock-paper-scissors for who started, it was Makki, which everyone else was nervous about. Hanamaki Takahiro was an unhinged man who knew no boundaries, and no one there was going to decline a truth nor a dare, so this was a recipe for disaster. "Hmm, Iwaizumi. Truth or Dare?" Makki asked. Iwaizumi looked genuinely frightened by Makki, so, "truth." Makki hummed in thought. "Out of the four of us, who'd die in an apocalypse first, and who'd survive?" Iwaizumi let out an exhale of relief. The paused, then said, "Matsun would die first. He'd probably joke around, walk up to a zombie saying he'd fight it, and die. Makki next in a similar way, and I think I'd probably survive with Tooru, but if I had to choose one of us to survive, it'd be Tooru." He finished. "Why Oikawa?" Makki asked, surprised. "I get it," Matsun said, nodding to Iwaizumi, "Tooru's the most determined out of all of us, and I'd probably still make sure he wasn't overworking himself or being stupid in an apocalypse, so." Everyone laughed. "I'd probably be dead from a house fire in an attempt to cook without Hajime," Oikawa said, which just made everyone else laugh more and nod. "I do not trust you in the kitchen," Iwaizumi said. "Hey! I can bake," Oikawa replied. Iwaizumi shrugged, "I won't dispute that, it's true." Iwaizumi scanned the room. "Matsun, Truth or Dare?" Matsun shrugged, "dare." Iwaizumi thought for a second, "do an impression of someone in this room, and we have to guess who it is." Matsun nodded and didn't even hesitate. He stuck out his tongue, put a peace sign up and dramatically shifted all his weight onto one hip, "ya-hoo!" Oikawa turned bright red, and Makki started crying-laughing and started pushing him- Makki was a violent laugher, while Iwaizumi snorted. They didn't even need to name a name, they all knew it was the famous- or infamous: Oikawa Tooru. Oikawa started sulking, crossing his arms and pouting. "Makki, Truth or Dare?" Matsun asked. "Dare." His reply was instantaneous, but no one was surprised. "I dare you to show your most embarrassing photo in your camera roll. Makki froze. "Fuck you, Matsukawa Issei," he said and pulled out his phone. He scrolled through it and then faced it towards the other three boys, who immediately started laughing at the bright red Makki. The photo was a selfie of freshman Makki with duck lips and that yellow-ish lighting that made everyone's skin look bad. "No wonder Matsun had the hugest crush on you," Oikawa remarked, which just set him and Iwaizumi off even more, while Matsun was enjoying Makki's very embarrassed face while snickering. Makki turned to Oikawa. "Bitchface, Truth or Dare?" Makki asked. Oikawa grabbed at his chest like he was hurt by the nickname, but replied anyway, "truth, I don't trust your dares." Makki rolled his eyes and thought for a second, "what's a secret nobody knows?" Oikawa flushed red and stuttered out an "I- uh- um." Makki just raised an eyebrow while Matsun leaned back and Iwaizumi stared daggers at Oikawa. Luckily, he had a secret that nobody knew that didn't expose his undying love for Iwaizumi, so he was safe. Except... the only other secret was, "I have an Onlyfans." The three boys paused. "No way..." Matsun said. Oikawa just nodded. "I haven't posted in years, it was something I made when I was 18 for extra money and I only did it for a couple months." Iwaizumi gaped, "and you didn't tell me?" He looked genuinely offended. "I didn't want you to see it!" "Well, I wouldn't have looked at it!" That was a lie. "Yeah, well I stopped doing it before I got the chance to tell you!" Makki was just giggling in the corner. Iwaizumi and Oikawa kept bickering, and Matsun was making fun of Makki for his bug-eyes while laughing. They continued the game smoothly, with a few embarrassing secrets shared, a couple dance moves and Makki falling out of his seat on the train. Yeah, Oikawa missed this. He missed this and he missed out on this.
