Kun did his weird tests on me. I'm not sure what Mark was on about him being sadistic because he had a neutral face throughout the whole thing. Taeyong also stayed for all the tests and Mark popped in and out of the room. Obviously, Renjun and Yuta were in the room but Renjun was asleep and Yuta couldn't see what was going on since a curtain was separating us.
After many tests (the blood one being the worst since I hate needles), Kun said we were finished and stared at a computer for 20 minutes. At one point, he called someone on his phone but I couldn't understand him since he was speaking in Mandarin. Apart from that, it was silent - unless you count Yuta's grumbles about being lonely - and my knees bounced in anxiety.
"The good news is," Kun started, breaking the silence, "is that there was a reason they made you go to a therapist."
"How is that good? They could try and find him so that he goes to therapy!" Taeyong complained. "He's posing a risk to the entire group, our cause!"
"You didn't let me finish. I made a call to Ten to find any hidden files about Jisung in the government's data. He found something, and it links to my diagnosis."
"So there is something wrong with me?" I asked sadly.
"Unfortunately, yes. And I don't know how bad it is either. It's some type of Amnesia."
"Well, it would explain why he always forgets Jaemin." Mark added.
"I'll have to do more research and Yangyang will have to confirm this since he specialises in this area, but my guess is Dissociative Amnesia, but the symptoms don't quite match up. Your government file was hidden too so Ten couldn't find anything but Amnesia, which is really vague, and which therapists you went to."
"But why would his file be hidden?" Mark asked.
"That's something I can't answer. But we can get rid of it. There's a file that we could access without hacking so we could get rid of the hidden one. Or we set up a decoy hidden file." Taeyong suggested quickly.
"I think the first option is better." Kun answered and Mark agreed.
"And I have the perfect plan: since Jisung's a hacker, why don't we let him delete it? Obviously with guidance from someone else, but it'll teach him some things." Taeyong recommended.
"Me?" I pointed to myself.
"Yeah, why not? And I'll even be generous and give you 2 weeks to do it, and no missions or unit meetings!"
I sighed. They really just left an unskilled hacker to attempt some large-scale, illegal data deletion. "Sure." It's not like I had a choice. I didn't want to go back to therapy.
"Cool, I'll get Ten to work with you since he knows the access paths." Taeyong got up and left. Mark also followed and whispered a few things to him, which no one could hear.
"Ah, about your amnesia, there must be either a traumatic event or incident which caused it. Would you mind seeing Yangyang sometime so he can check it out?" Kun asked me. "I'm not the most skilled person when it comes to the brain so I think he'd be good to look into it."
I nodded. I mean, eventually, the others would have to know soon. What was one more person?
"Well, I'll have to leave you here. Taeyong told me to tell you to stay here for tonight. Don't worry, the beds are quite comfy."
"No they're not!" Yuta yelled, to which Kun just scoffed. I'm surprised Renjun didn't wake up.
"Fine, they're better than hospital beds at least."
"Nope!"
"You can sleep on the couch instead if that makes you happier!" Silence. "That's what I thought.
He left me on the bed I was examined on and shut the door. I opened the curtain to face a grinning Yuta and Renjun who looked like he just woke up.
"You're not half loud, are you?" He mumbled tiredly, turned to his side and fell asleep again.
"Well, I got a new buddy now."
"Only for the night." I lay down trying to get comfy. The bed was a little hard but it was sleepable.
"Better than nothing." He sat up. "So, amnesia, huh?"
"I guess so." I stared at the white ceiling. "I didn't even know I had it. I don't remember any accidents or trauma."
"That's why it's called amnesia."
"True. Now I want to sleep, please be quiet." I turned to my right side.
"But I want someone to talk to!" Yuta whined. I swear half of these people are just so childish, maybe that's why they get along.
"Talk to your pillow." Renjun quipped. "Now shut up and sleep or get out. It's past midnight and I guarantee you someone is coming here at 3am and I want some sleep before that."
"Fine, fine." He grumbled, making extremely loud shuffling noises and huffing before eventually turning into soft breaths, inaudible unless you paid attention.
After the two seemed to have fallen asleep, I closed my eyes and tried to relax. It's not every day that you get diagnosed with amnesia. But Kun said my symptoms didn't follow one type of amnesia? Does that mean it could be something else, or that I had two different types of amnesia? Would it affect missions? Would it stop me from being an Intel like I wanted to be?
Soon, my worried thoughts ceased and I was about to fall asleep until:
"I bet Chenle will come in at 3am."
"SHUT UP!"
END
A little shorter than what I usually write but the cat is out of the bag: Jisung has amnesia.
I intended for Dissociative until I read more into it again and realised he had no traumatic event, so Transient Global Amnesia suited the symptoms a bit more. However, I didn't like the name and it was more for people over 50, so I'll let you know which one it is eventually!
