Chapter Sixteen: The Ball

"We're not supposed to wear robes Sky. We're supposed to wear dresses. And the boys wear suits." Explained Fern exasperatedly, to Sky, who clearly was not paying attention during Amitis's speech.

"Do you know who Vanessa's going with?" Said Crystal, who had just burst into the room. "Tom, and Alexah are going with Jack. Oh, and Savannah is going with Kyle Halie.

"Who are you going with Fern?" Asked Ivy.

"Oliver Johns"

"How do I look?" Asked Sky.

She was wearing a light pink dress that trailed behind her. Glitter sparkled on her dress.

Everyone was speechless.

"Wow." Amber broke the silence."I'm going to get dressed."

She came back in with a fire orange dress.

"Woah!" Ivy said.

"I told Brian I'd meet him at ten so bye. See you." Amber called over her shoulder.

Brian was wearing a black suit with a black bowtie.

"You look beautiful." Said Brian.

"Oh, thanks!" Amber said.

"Hey Amber!" David called.

"Hi!" She called back.

"Bonjour! Comment allez-vous?" Said Julia. "Aussi j'aime ta tenue."

"What?" Said Amber confused.

"Oh, sorry! Wrong language. Hello! How are you?"

"Good."

"Also I like your outfit."

"Thanks. I like your outfit too."

"We'll see you later." Julia departed.

Vanessa walked by arm in arm with Tom.

"That one's mean isn't she?" Said Brian.

"Yes!" Agreed Amber.

"Come on let's go to the ballroom. We have to be there early." Brian said.

He took her by the hand and led her through the crowd.

Amber ignored all the cat calls from Vanessa's gang. Amber knew by the way Tom was acting that he would double cross Vanessa at any moment to earn her liking.

When they stepped into the room they immediately slipped and slid across the room, crashing into other people on the way.

"Did anyone tell you this was a ice skating rink?!" He yelled.

"No!" Amber cried. "No one told me - HEY!"

Tom had grabbed her hand, sending Brian spinning.

Someone else caught her hand.

For a second she thought it was Jack, but it was Sky.

As quick as lightning she tied a rope around Tom and pushed him towards the middle where Fern had sent Vanessa spinning. When they reached the middle the rope lashed around Vanessa, tying her a Tom together.

Shrieks of laughter echoed through the room, as everyone saw how Fern and Sky had thwarted the notorious Vanessa.

Tom threw a bit of mistletoe over at her and Brian.

Very luckily Sky noticed before the mistletoe was over them and sent a blast of water which sent it flying back at him and Vanessa. Autumn made it hover over their heads.
