Selena fluttered her eyes open to see Klaus was no longer in bed, she frowned and stood up making her way towards the nursery to see him talking to the twins even though he knew they wouldn't understand him
"What better life might have awaited you were another man your father? All those who have loved me have lived to regret it. But I do know this, my littlest wolves. I will do right by you" he told them softly with a small smile as Luna and was staring at him with her blue eyes and Selena was leaning against the door
"I'll never regret loving you nor chosing you" Selena spoke announcing her presence making him turn around
"I will always choose you" she finished and he wrapped his arms around her waist tightly "Remember that"
"I will do right by you, little wolf. I'll always will" he said and she arched upward to kiss him but they were interrupted by Elijah making his brother scowl in annoyance
"What do you want, Elijah?" The Original hybrid asked his brother coldly and Selena sighed in frustration
"I'm not foolish enough to ask your forgiveness, so I'll say it again. I had no choice" Elijah stated firmly and Selena looked at him sadly "We protect this family at any cost"
"You think I'm not aware of how heavy that burden is?" Klaus asked him in disbelief as he finally looked at him and Elijah shook his head
"No. I think that this time, that burden... is simply too much to bear" the older brother sincerely said and the brothers looked at each other for a moment before Elijah took his leave
"Nik... trust me he's regretting what he did. Don't be so hard on him" Selena softly placed her hand on his shoulder as he remained silent "I'm sad too for what happened to Marcel because he was so dear to me but don't you think Elijah loved him too?"
