Emerson's POV

I adjusted my hair starting to feel irritated that my hair wasn't corresponding . Gel and hair were always in love with each but today today my hair decided to somehow hate Gel. If there was one thing I actually loved about myself were my long thick curls. I was always happy that I was blessed with my dads hair but I wasn't going to fool myself-they were so hard to maintain. Gels upon gels I used just to get my hair into a perfect high bun, finishing the look with my neat edges . I had already taken care of Gracie who was wearing a pink skirt and white puffer jacket due to the cloudy weather. I looked at my reflection . The black skirt hugged my lower area perfectly, almost to tight for my liking . The white shirt was neatly tucked , the red tie hang nicely around my neck, I was so happy that I had managed to tie it all thanks to a YouTube video . All that was left was for me to throw on my blazer .

"You look beautiful." Gracie said while smiling

"Thank you so do you, don't you think it's too much just for a school ? Why not just let us wear our own clothes. "

"It's the best and most expensive school here , so I think it makes sense why they have uniform ."

How did she know it was a private school , I didn't even know that myself

"How did you know it's expensive?"

"Helius told me .. I was nervous for my first day today ...I had to told him this was my first going to school, so he told me I have nothing to be worried about and also mentioned that Gabriella put us in the most expensive school here ,"

The thought of Helius being aware that Gracie has never been to school scared me . He was smart after all . He didn't seem dumb, this piece of information would obviously alert him that there's so much more to us . I didn't need anyone knowing what we went through back in New York.

"Gracie why did you tell Helius that you've never been to school before...you know I've told you to be careful with what you say ..especially to strangers ."

"Helius isn't a stranger ..he's different we can trust him ."

-Helius' POV-

"Helius isn't a stranger . He's different, we can trust him ," the little angel muttered

That brought some type of emotion to my heart . I didn't know what it was but it made me feel good

"Gracie you can't just say that ?! We don't know him. We can't trust him or anyone , please try and understand where I'm coming from here ."

"But we're safe here there's no way he could possibly find us ." She replied to her sister confused

"I know that but we shouldn't get too comfortable what if-" Emerson starts off , but cuts herself off realising I was standing there listening to their conversation

Who where they talking about

"What are you doing here ?"

"Breakfast ...Gabriella told me to come get y'all ." I say playing it off like I wasn't eavesdropping

"Come Gracie let's go eat ." She says walking past me as Gracie followed her throwing me a smile while walking

*****

-Emerson's POV-

We sat by the table in silence as everyone ate their breakfast . I looked at Gracie who had insisted on sitting next to Helius. What was their obsession with one another .

"So Emerson how do you feel about your first day in highschool." Amani asked sending a smile in my direction . She had on a new colourful wig . It was pink and shaped like a Bob . It suited her, made her melanin glow even more. I had always wished I inherited more melanin from my father .
