Aiden
Before we could put the shopping down, Amaya had dragged me into the kitchen.
"Is everything okay? You don't look too happy."
"Aiden, I can't be with you anymore." My heart dropped.
"Why? Is this because I don't know your favourite snack?"
"No." A glossy layer covered her eyes. "It's Avery."
"What about her?"
"I don't think I can be with a man."
"Oh."
"I'm sorry."
"Don't be sorry. It's not your fault. You can't help it."
"You're not upset?"
"Nope. I don't have a reason, really. I can't complain if you like girls."
"I love you, Aiden." She hugged me and I held her in my arms.
"I love you too. So, you and Avery, huh?"
"Yeah. We can talk about that later. For now, there's something else we need to talk about."
"What's that?"
"Come with me.""In my old school, there was this guy who was obsessed with me. He used to follow me around everywhere, and then one day, I saw him in my neighborhood, which is weird because he has a ton of money, so there's no reason for him to be there. I also saw him yesterday in the corridor outside our History class."
"You're kidding?!"
"No, she's not. We found his Instagram too." Avery showed us her phone and I immediately recognised him.
"He transferred at the same time as Amaya."
"Yeah. All of the arrows are pointing to him."
"He was on the athletics team and when he found out I was moving schools, he got super upset because I was their star runner; he'll stop at nothing to get me back."
"But how would he know you're an Ace?" Axel asked.
"He used to be my best friend, so he's seen my birthmark."
"Are we sure that it's this guy?" Avery and Amaya looked at each other before nodding at Axel's question. I stood up with a sigh. "Well, you know what we have to do."
