Axel

"What's Amaya's favourite drink and snack?"
"I don't know."
"Uh, golden boy, she's your girlfriend, not mine."
"I'll text her. I'm assuming you don't know Avery's?"
"Actually, I do, but if I didn't, it wouldn't be so bad because she's not my girlfriend. I'm just a wonderful best friend."
"Go on then."
"Alright," I picked up a bottle of water and a packet of ready salted crisps. "How's that?"
"Spot on..."
"I don't know why you're so surprised."
"Axel?"
"Yes?"
"What's the deal between you and Avery?"
"I've told you a million times: nothing!"
"Then what were you doing when you were out together for ages?"
"You mean last night?"
"Yeah."
"Aiden, I found your sister blacked out on a bench in the street. When I woke her up, her eyes were bloodshot and she had dried out, black streaks running down her cheeks from where her makeup had been ruined by tears. I stayed with her to comfort her."
"Oh. Thank you."
"You guys are my best friends; I wouldn't have done anything else." Just then Aiden's phone beeped. "What does she want?" I asked, turning around to face the drinks.
"Haribos and apple juice."
"Cool. So we've got everything now?"
"Yeah."

"Do you think the girls actually worked anything out whilst we were gone?" I asked as we neared Aiden's house.
"Probably not. I wouldn't be surprised if they just sat around gossiping the whole time." When we opened the door, we were met with an extremely organised living room, in which sat two very nervous-looking girls. Before we could put the shopping down, Amaya had dragged Aiden into the kitchen. I took one look at Avery and my stomach dropped at the sight of her glossy eyes. "Avery, what happened?"
"I- I kissed her." she whispered.
"What?" I gasped, running to her side. She nodded, her lip quivering as she held back tears.
"I asked her to help me carry something down the stairs and then I fell and knocked her over and we shared this beautiful moment and I kissed her."
"Did she pull away?" When Avery shook her head, my eyes lit up. "Wait, is she-?"
"I think she's breaking up with Aiden right now."
"Oh, wow. She likes you back?" Avery nodded and a smile appeared on her face.
"We also worked out who it is."
"Who what is?"
"X."
"No way."
"Yes way."
"I wish I was here with you guys; Aiden may be pretty, but he's so, very boring." Avery and I sat giggling until Amaya and Aiden walked back in. What's weird is Aiden didn't look upset.
