Amaya

"Can you help me bring this downstairs?" Avery called.
"Yeah, I'm coming now." I put my phone down and rushed to help, but the message wouldn't erase itself from my mind. Who, out of everyone I know, would be so messed up in the head to want to do this? "Hey Avery, who do you think did it?"
"I don't know. You're right though, I don't think it was a student."
"When Axel said something bad would happen, I didn't expect it to be a murder."
Yeah, well-" Suddenly, Avery went tumbling down the stairs, knocking me over as she reached the end.
"Are you okay?" I asked immediately.
"I'm fine. Are you okay?" Our faces were extremely close together.
"Yeah." We sat in silence at the bottom of the stairs as if we were in our own little bubble where no one else could come near us. Avery looked down to my lips before leaning in to kiss me. I was shocked, but I didn't pull away. Time seemed to have stopped the second our lips met. Heat rose from my stomach to my chest and my whole body tingled at the almost forbidden feeling of her lips on mine. Even if I didn't want to admit it to myself, this is what I've wanted since the moment I laid my eyes on her. When we pulled away, I felt her wash over me like a wave of warmth. Every moment that had led up to this felt like a dream: the time she held my hands, all of the silences we shared and even meeting her. My life was slowly coming together, piece by piece. I was the first to speak. "I knew that you were always my favourite twin." She laughed, and if I could've bottled the sound and got drunk on it, I would have. "I've been hiding for so long, and I was just so scared of admitting it, even to myself. That's why I said yes to Aiden."
"I've always known, but I've never really had the balls to tell anyone. I told Axel last night. That's why I was out with him for so long; I'm assuming Aiden told you. Oh, wait. Your date with him is tonight."
"We cancelled it due to the whole murder thing."
"We have to tell him."
"I know."
"We also have to get the room set up before the boys come home."
"Alright, but no more falling down the stairs."
"Why not? It led to something good, didn't it?"
"No, it led to something spectacular."
"Come on." With a smile, we went back to the living room. That's when it hit me.
