Amaya
Apprehensively, we waited for Aiden to send the message. "Done." My heart stopped. Seconds later, our phones buzzed and Aiden dropped his on the floor. None of us wanted to pick our phones up. Axel was the first to swallow his dread. "I'll do it." he said, moving towards his phone. He picked it up and the rest of us held our breath. Then, he read it aloud:
"Well, well, well. I didn't expect that: you got me. This isn't over.
Love,
X.""What does he mean it's 'not over'?" Panic flowed through my blood.
"I don't know, but we got him. Why would he sign off with 'love'?" Avery finally let out a breath.
"Because he's weird, I thought we established that."
"Come here." Axel pulled us all in for a hug. We moved away from each other and I placed my head on Avery's shoulder.
"So," Aiden suggested. "Who wants to go watch a movie?" We all cheered and made our way to the front door, my fingers intertwined with Avery's.We may be safe for now, but like he said, this wasn't over.
