Dove smiled softly as she made her way to the sofa, where you laid comfortably and slept soundly.
It brought her a little relief for the first time all day. She'd just gotten home from work, having no other choice but to leave you on your own for the day despite how sick you were and how much she wanted to stay with you.
She had been texting you throughout the day and you replied here and there, when you were awake or had the energy to reach for your phone, that is. It didn't ease her mind fully, but it got her through the day, until she could finally get home to you.
She placed her hand on your forehead, sighing sadly when she found that your fever had returned.
You stirred from her touch and as soon as you opened those heavy and tired eyes to look at her, she felt a rush of guilt hit her.
"I'm sorry, baby. I didn't mean to wake you."
You didn't say anything. You just nodded weakly and then closed your eyes again.
"Have you been down here all day?"
You nodded.
"Have you eaten?"
"Don't mention food. Please." You whined and Dove mumbled an apology, realizing that your stomach was just too weak to handle that topic.
It was enough to make it turn, so she assumed you hadn't eaten.
"Why don't we get you up to bed?"
You shook your head, mumbling tiredly about how you couldn't make it up there.
You were too weak and too tired. You somehow made it downstairs today, just to curl up there to be closer to the kitchen when you'd need water or something. At the time, you didn't even think about getting back up to bed.
"I'll carry you. How's that sound?"
"Okay." You agreed, your voice so quiet she almost didn't hear your response.
She stood up from the floor, where she'd knelt down in front of the sofa when she got home, so she could check on you. She helped you sit up before having you put your arms around her neck. Carefully, she lifted you up and had you keep your legs around her hips as she took the stairs.
"Did you leave anything important downstairs? Anything you'd need tonight?"
You shook your head.
Even if you did, you felt too sick to care. You just wanted to go back to sleep. You didn't care about much of anything else.
She took the steps slowly and carefully. Not just because she feared she'd trip if she went too fast and risk hurting you, but because she also didn't want to make you feel worse somehow. She'd rather take a moment or two longer than usual if it meant your stomach wouldn't turn again because of her.
Finally, she reached the top of the stairs. By then, she could feel your warm breath fanning against your neck. Judging by your steady breaths, she knew you'd fallen asleep again. She couldn't help but smile a little, finding it absolutely adorable.
She laid you down gently when she entered the bedroom and reached the bed.
"Are you awake, baby? You don't have to open your eyes, but if you can, just let me know if you're hot or cold or if you're okay right now."
"Kinda cold." You mumbled and she quickly grabbed a couple of sheets from the closet before returning and draping them to your shoulders.
"Better?"
You nodded with your eyes still closed tightly.
"Can you cuddle me too?"
"Of course, baby." She said before kissing your head.
She turned off the light before climbing into bed with you. She let you curl up to her, let you move around on your own, out of worry that she might make you feel worse if she moved you in any way.
"All better, my love?"
You nodded tiredly.
"If you need anything, you wake me up and I'll take care of you. Okay? Promise me?"
"I promise."
She sighed in relief before kissing your head softly.
"Get some sleep."
"Love you."
"I love you more, y/n; to the moon and back again." She said and held you as you fell asleep, hoping that it wouldn't be much longer until you felt better.
