Your relationship with Dove is absolutely wonderful. You rarely have fights, more so having tiny disagreements more than anything else.

But every couple has their fights sooner or later. You and Dove just so happen to be having one tonight.

You're both busy and under a lot of stress, so one tiny thing seemed to set you both off.

You've been arguing, gradually raising your voices at one another, for the last few minutes. You had a hunch that fighting with her would be brutal, but not this brutal.

You were both careful of your words, knowing that there are some things you can say in the heat of a fight but never be able to take back once it slipped past one another's lips.

You stopped arguing, took a look at each other, and then stormed off to different rooms so you couldn't fight anymore and could try to take a breather and calm down.

You rushed up the stairs and to the bedroom, where you slammed the door. In response, she slammed the guest room door shut forcefully.

You turned the lock before falling onto the bed with a groan. You found yourself burying your face into her pillow for comfort, breathing in her scent and closing your eyes as you took a few deep breaths and cooled down.

However, you haven't heard the door to the guest room open or the sound of her feet on the floor, or a knock at the door. You know she's gotta be cooling down, too.

So you didn't bother going across the hall to push her into talking or even trying to see your point of view.

Instead, you unlocked the door as quietly as you could and then went into the bathroom to brush your teeth and change into her shirt before you crawled into bed.

You shed a few tears as your emotions got the best of you, mostly tears of sadness that you had such a terrible fight and ended your night with slamming doors instead of the kisses you usually share.

You turned the lights off and decided to call it a night. You put your head on the pillow, her pillow, and started to drift off to sleep.

You're not sure how much time went by, but you soon awoke to the bedroom door closing quietly followed by the quiet footsteps on the floor. You felt the mattress dip as Dove laid down beside you, followed by the brush of her hand and her whispering your name.

"Are you awake, y/n?"

You waited a moment before you found it impossible to pretend to be asleep.

"No."

She chuckled softly and then scooted closer to you.

"I'm sorry."

You turned over and thanks to the street lights coming outside lighting up the room a little, you were able to see the tear-stains on her cheeks. She saw them on yours too and instinctively reached out to wipe them away.

"I'm sorry too." You whispered and then laid your head on her shoulder as she wrapped her arms around you. "I hate fighting. I hate going to sleep without you by my side."

"I feel the same way, baby." She said. "I love you so much. No more fighting, okay? And, if we do, let's promise to always work them out. No walking away, no shutting each other out. We're always at our best when we work together, as a team, and have each other's back. So let's always do that."

"So wise." You giggled but nodded in agreement and kissed her chin softly. "I promise, Dove."

"Good. I promise too. Now I can go to sleep." She said before yawning and laying her head on the pillow. "I couldn't sleep without you. I missed you and that bed isn't as comfortable or as warm as ours."

You smiled and closed your eyes as she brushed her fingers along your back.

"I feel cozy now that you're holding me."

"Me too." She whispered quietly. "Sleep tight, my baby. I won't let you go."

"Goodnight, Dove. Sweet dreams. Love you lots." You mumbled before you fell asleep with your head on her chest.

"I love you more, my love. To the moon and back, always."
