The sound of glass shattering in the kitchen awoke you from your peaceful slumber. Your eyes flew open at the sound. You grabbed your phone from beneath the pillow and checked the time. You were surprised to see it was only a little after four in the morning.

You jumped when you heard more glass shattering. Your mind started to race but you tried to stay as rational as possible so you wouldn't scare yourself. Although it was unlikely, you tried to convince yourself that maybe Dove had snuck over because she couldn't sleep or something. Maybe she was thirsty and had grabbed a glass to get some water and dropped it onto the floor.

You pushed away the covers and started to walk to your bedroom door. You opened it slowly and your heart almost stopped when you saw someone in the hallway. It was dark but you could see their silhouette. You could hear them grumbling under their breath and their heavy footsteps.

It all started to click. It wasn't Dove. Their footsteps were much too heavy and their voice far too deep and unrecognizable. You closed the door as quietly as you could and tiptoed to the bed to grab your phone. You weren't sure where the safest place to hide would be, but you ultimately decided on hiding in the bathroom since it had a lock on the door.

You rushed inside and locked the door. You didn't turn on the lights and you kept your breathing steady and quiet, so they wouldn't hear you if they came inside.

Your first thought was the most logical one. With shaky fingers, you dialed emergency services and kept your voice quiet as you explained the situation to them.

But you stopped talking and jumped in your spot when you heard your bedroom door open. You held your breath and squeezed your eyes shut, trying hard to ignore the terrifying thoughts of the worst-case scenario that this situation could hold as they rushed through your brain.

Your heart was pounding and you were trembling.

But then, something unexpected happened. Something that shook you to your core.

"Y/N?"

Your eyes shot open when you heard the scary stranger call your name. His voice wasn't loud; it was more of a whisper. But you heard it loud and clear... because he was right outside of the bathroom. You didn't recognize the voice. You didn't know who it could possibly be.

"Y/N? I know you're here. I saw your car in the driveway."

You squeezed your eyes shut once more. You knew this was all real, but you somehow hoped that it was all just one terrible, awful dream that you'd wake up from.

But that moment never came.

Instead, you heard his footsteps retreat from near the bathroom door followed by the sound of him going through your closet and throwing things around the room.

You waited for those sirens to sound. Every moment was a moment that you were left wondering if he'd break down your bathroom door and try to get to you.

He knows your name. He knows what kind of car you drive. Where you lived.

You had a sinking feeling creep up on you that this was no random burglary. Instead, you had a feeling that this guy had found your personal info.

You love Dove. She's your whole world. But dating her does come with a few downsides and that's that you don't get much privacy. From being followed by fans and paparazzi, to having things leaked on the internet. Privacy was something you once had; a thing you once took for granted that you don't get anymore.

"Y/N?" He called again, but this time his voice was louder than before.

You gasped in fear and hugged your knees to your chest. You closed your eyes and prayed to the universe that he wouldn't come inside. His footsteps were getting closer.

Upon opening your eyes, you saw the shadow of his feet under the door. Your heart was pounding and there were tears in your eyes. You heard him start to turn the knob, but thankfully the door was locked.

But it was just another sign that you were home.

He started to bang on the door, but just as he did, the sirens sounded as they came down the street.

You held your breath and heard footsteps yet again.

But this time, when the handle turned, there was a knock on the door followed by two voices that were much different than the one of the intruder.

"Hello? This is the police."

You opened the door slowly and saw two officers in the doorway. You sighed out in relief, but you were still terrified and shaking.

With tears in your eyes, you dialed Dove's number.

"Hello? Y/N?"

"Dove? I need you to come here. Something happened." You whimpered.

"I'm on my way right now!" She said as she slipped her shoes on and grabbed her things before running out the door.

You tried to console yourself as you waited for her. Thankfully, she didn't live far from you. Only a couple of blocks. So she was able to make it fast.

The cop cars and the broken glass in your front door was enough to make her feel dizzy. She ran inside and over to you. "Baby? What happened? Are you alright?"

You leaned your forehead on her chest and cried. She put her arms around you and rubbed your back soothingly.

"Someone broke in." You cried.

"What?"

You bit down on your lip and pulled away from her chest. "Dove... the necklace you gave me... I didn't see it on my bedside table. I think they stole it."

She shook her head and held you close again, kissing the side of your head softly. "A necklace is the least of my worries. We can replace that. I'm just worried about you. I'm just happy that you're okay."

You nodded and let a shaky breath fall from your lips.

The cops asked you some questions and promised they'd look into it and keep an eye out for your necklace and the man before they left.

Dove put her hand on your knee and gave it a squeeze.

"He knew my name..."

"He probably found your info from the photos the paparazzi took a few days ago when they followed us here. Baby, I'm so sorry." She whispered as her own bottom lip started to wobble. "Move in with me."

You lifted your head to look at her. Her eyes were a little red from the tears she was crying. But she was serious. You could see it.

"I want you to be safe. I know you're always safe with me. For my peace of mind and yours, I want you to move in with me. And I won't let you go on your own anymore, I'll have some bodyguards go with you if I can't for any reason. I don't want you to live alone anymore. People know your address, baby. Some people out there can be a little obsessive... I don't wanna risk anything. Your safety is the most important thing to me. Because I can get you a new necklace. If anything of mine was stolen that I left here I can replace it. I can't do that with you. You're one of a kind. I'd rather lose all of my possessions than lose my girl."

You cracked a smile and let your forehead fall onto hers. Eyes locking, you nodded your head and she let out a breath of relief before crashing her lips onto yours.

"I love you." She whispered.

You laid your head on her shoulder. Still shaken up, but calming down now that she was by your side.

"I've got you now and I won't let you go. I'm not gonna let anything happen to you. I promise."
