Our next idea was to go back to where this all began, in the forest from the night of the crash. If Nick knew what I was up to, he would probably kill me. I was supposed to be back at the house, but instead I was hiking through the woods with dead psychos after me.
As everyone got situated, Deena pulled me aside. "Is everything okay with you and Simon?" She asked. "We were all there when he fucked up, but I needed to make sure you were ok."
Okay, okay. We have two options here. Lie to her and tell her everything is fine, or come clean about cheating on him with a man twice my age.
I chose option number one.
"Yup. Everything's fine."
"You sure? You know you can tell me?"
"Deena, I'm fine. Trust me." I said as I followed Kate into the forest.
I hadn't really thought about what a bad idea this was. Every step I took felt like another step closer to death. Soon, we found the wreck and Sam began to retrace her steps.
"Ok, so I fell out of the car...here." She got down to the ground and began to feel around. "I was crawling, and my nose was bleeding. And then..." We were graced by the sound of metal clinking. "I feel something." She began to pull chains up from the ground and with one big pull, they brought with it...bones.
"Oh fuck no" I said as I turned away from the scene for a brief moment.
Josh held up the lock on the chains. They were engraved with her name. "Fier. It's her. It's her grave."
"This is bad! This is really bad!" Simon panicked.
"No wonder the witch is pissed at us. I'd be pissed too."
"Sam disturbed her grave" I blamed. I had no problem pointing fingers at a time like this.
Josh sighed, "Now she's sending her henchmen after us."
I cleared my throat in fear. "H-henchmen? You mean to tell me that all of those manics on your wall are coming after us?!"
My fear speech was cut off by the sound of twigs snapping.
"Hold up. Hold up" Simon breathed. "She's mad because we disturbed her grave, right? So, let's un-disturb it! Just put the bones back, rebury them, and put her to rest!"
"It's worth a try" I cheered as I retrieved a Sunnyvale jacket from the totaled car. I handed the jacket off to Simon to wrap the bones in. He just barely looked at me for a moment. It was something — at least. Josh became our lookout during this process. We tried to keep a fast pace, not wanting to be here anymore.
Josh's words didn't help that matter. "Guys! I think there's someone in the woods!"
"Shut up, Josh!" I yelled back as Simon finished off burying the bones.
"Did it work?" Kate asked.
All of our breaths were shaky as the silence surrounded us. I hated the silence. Nothing good ever came from it and I was right. Soon, the masked psycho from camp nightwing was chasing after us with an axe. We all panicked and began to run. I had forgotten how to move my legs out of horror and soon felt a pair of arms drag me with them. Simon had saved me just before the killer could get me.
We all bolted until we were safe in the ambulance again. Kate drove faster than ever until the killer was no longer in sight.
"That was Thomas Slater. The Camp Nightwing Killer" I sighed in relief as I sank into my seat.
"That did nothing!" Kate complained about our efforts to end this nightmare.
Deena got up to retrieve a towel to hand to Sam for her bloody nose. "Yeah, maybe because it's not like the movies, ok?"
"Maybe it's her missing hand." Josh suggested.
"You're right! She cut it off before she was hung!" I agreed.
"Who gives a shit? It doesn't matter. How do we not die?!" Kate cried.
"They're not coming for us!" Sam interrupted, causing us all to look to her. "They're coming for me."
"What?" We all questioned.
"I saw her again...The witch. She...I disturbed her grave. She wants me."
"Yeah. Yeah, Yeah. Nightwing ran right by me." Josh recalled. "I jumped out of his way, it was like he didn't even see me. He went for her."
"Guys, no! Ruby attacked Simon." Deena tried her hardest to not pin this on Sam. "Skull Mask came after us at home. And while you guys were babysitting!"
The ambulance came to a stop and the brakes screeched as Kate made her way back to us. "No, he didn't. Skull Mask didn't care about us. He wanted this." She unzipped Simon's jacket to reveal his vomit-blood covered shirt. "Sam's blood."
"Yeah! From the crash when Sam puked period!" My god, what did I ever see in this man? "It's Jaws, dude! A shark smelling blood! Kate's right! When we found Skeletor, he was all sniffy and weird with my shirt like a perv in a pantie shop!"
"Yeah, but he came to our house too!" Deena tried.
I looked down to see a small corner of her converse covered in blood — Sam's blood. "Deena..." she then saw it too.
"Sam bled on her bones, now the witch wants more of her blood!" Simon carried on.
"I say let them have it" I began and everyone looked at me like I was insane. "What?! It's her fault we're in this mess!" Had none of this ever happened, Simon would have never found out about Nick and I, and we would still be...whatever we were. "You know the rhyme, it's not going to stop until she's dead. I say just kick her out now."
"Are you crazy?!" Deena protested.
"Don't tell me you're standing up for this bitch, after everything she did to you? I thought you were smarter than this, Deena. Unlike the rest of you, I have something to live for now."
"Yeah, and what is that? It's certainly not your mom or dad. He's long gone and she's too disappointed to even look you in the eyes-" I cut her off with a slap to the face. Great. Now everyone knew about my fucked up life thanks to her. She looked prepared to jump on me, but she was held back by Kate while Simon held me back.
"Enough!" Josh yelled. "Y/n is right."
"I am?"
"She is?!" Everyone else asked.
"Sam's our bait"
