"hey, bitch!" kacie greeted after i opened the door.

"hey, kacie." i laughed.

it's been about two weeks since i started working at taco bell. me and kacie work at the same time for the most part, and we've become really good friends already.

we mostly only talk at work, though today makes the second time we've hung out outside of work.

i stepped inside to let her in. once she was inside, i shut the door, and then started leading her to my room.

"who's this?" mom stopped us. "you didn't tell me you invited a friend over?"

"oh, right, my bad. mom this kacie. kacie, this is my mom." i introduced them to each other.

"hi, mrs. vance." kacie gave a smile.

"hey, kacie; it's nice to meet you." mom smiled back.

"likewise." kacie nodded.

"well, me and your father are going out for the night. we'll be gone a while." mom told me.

"alright, be safe."

"we will; love you, sweetie."

"love you too."

i told her bye before leading kacie to my room. she sat her bag down, then looked around.

"i'm stealing your room," she told me as she looked back to me. "it's sick, bro."

"thank you," i grinned. "that's a no on stealing it though."

"damn." she playfully rolled her eyes.

she looked around again. "where's your raccoon that you talk so much about at?"

"my raccoon," i mocked. "has a name. his name is tito."

"right," she snorted. "where is he though? i wanna see him!"

"i dunno. he's somewhere around here." i shrugged.

i walked out of my room and walked around the house, looking for tito. i eventually found him, so i picked him up and brought him into my room.

kacie gasped when she saw him. "oh my god, he's so cute!"

"right?" i grinned.

she walked over and scratched behind his ear. "you gotta get him away from me, 'cause if i look at him any longer, i'ma end up getting me one too."

"you definitely should; raccoons are superior." i nodded.

"dude, i've got, like, three dogs, and two cats; i don't need another pet." she shook her head with a laugh.

"your loss." i shrugged.

i walked over and sat on my bed. i sat tito in my lap and he laid there.

"so, how are you? how's school?" kacie asked.

"i'm good, and school's... well, school." i shrugged.

"school is ass, which is exactly why i dropped out."

"yeah, well, my parents would, like, fucking disown me if i dropped out," i snorted. "kidding, but they'd be disappointed as hell, and i can't handle that."

"damn," she sucked her teeth. "my parents were cool with it, but only 'cause i have a job, and my mom had also dropped out.

"lucky." i fell back across my bed.
