A young girl named Sapphire has just turned 10 years old and is ready to receive her first pokemon, along with her friends Emerald and Ruby. However a big surprise awaits them and they receive the alolan starters, Popplio, Rowlet and Litten instead...
Sapphire and Green woke up early the next morning at the Pokémon Centre. They got changed into clothes and had breakfast, provided by the chief at the Pokémon Centre Cafe. They looked at the map and found Route 22 on it.
"This Route is home to the monkey pig Pokémon, Mankey. Listen for grunting to find them." Sapphire read aloud. "This Route also leads to Pokémon League."
"I don't even have one badge yet..." murmured Sapphire. "But I still want to check it out, to find the Pokémon that lives there."
"Yes, lets go!" Green shouted happily.
They went downstairs to the main level of the Pokémon Centre. They went out of the doors. Sapphire ran through the streets of Viridian City to the east and found the sign, leading into Route 22.
"Route 22. Mankeys, Rattatas and Spearows are known to live on this route. It also leads to the Pokémon League."
"Okay, lets go in!" Said Green.
As soon as they got into the route, there were grunting noises. A tan monkey pig Pokémon with a pink nose sprang out the tall grass. Sapphire and Green both took out their rotom phones and scanned it.
"This pokemon is Mankey, a fighting type. It is light and agileon its feet, and ferocious in temperament. When angered, it flies into anuncontrollable frenzy. It is also extremely quick to anger. It could be docile one moment then thrashing away the next instant. This Mankey is male."

"Cool, I'm going to catch him!" Sapphire Shouted. "Go Popplio!" She called out her small blue seal Pokémon.
"Popplio, use water gun!" Called out Sapphire.
Popplio shook her head instead of obeying Sapphire and opened her mouth. Small pink hearts came out. It hit the pig monkey pokemon on the chest.
"This move was super effective! Popplio has learned Disarming Voice, a fairy type move!" The rotom phone shouted.
"Why is the move super effective?" Sapphire asked her rotom phone.
"Fairy moves are strong against fighting type pokemon!" The phone replied loudly.
Mankey lay weakly on the ground.
"Go poke..." Sapphire shouted but she was interrupted.
Ruby had suddenly appeared, and ran towards Sapphire. It scared the Mankey and it leapt away into the tall grass.
"Hi Sapphire, how's it going?!" He shouted. "I caught a new Pokemon! Who's that girl with you?"
"That's Green." Sapphire replied.
"Hi Ruby, nice to meet you!" Green replied.
"I caught a new Pokémon too!" Sapphire shouted at Ruby. "But you scared the Mankey I was about to catch, away!"
