Chapter 12: Cerulean Swimming Competition!

Sapphire and Green gasped as they see the beautiful Cerulean City blue houses in the distance. 

"There it is! Cerulean City!" Said Green pointing at the houses with deep blue roofs.

"Pi Pichu!" Cried Pichu on Green's shouder. 

"Haha! I can't wait to challenge the gym leader there and get my second badge!" Shouted Sapphire gleefully as she looks at her partner, Popplio, who was bwarking excitedly. 

"My Popplio is itching to battling the gym leader's Pokemon!"

"You are right..." Said Green, a bit exasperated. "Why can't you just be calm for once!"

But Sapphire already broke into the run, leaving footprints in the tracks as she ran. Her Popplio was struggling to keep up, panting excessively. 

"Wait for me, Sapphire!" Shouted Green as she broke into a run too. 

The wind whooshed past Sapphire as she ran. Suddenly, she heard Popplio desperate cries and her running out of breath. She stopped and turned around. Popplio collapsed on the ground and she walked backwards and put her on her shoulder. Popplio looked very relieved and bwarked with a sigh. When Green had just caught up, Sapphire broke into the run again and ran all the down the wall and into the city. Citizens of the city looked dazed as she whooshed pass them and looked for the Pokemon Gym/ Sapphire stopped, looking for signs of a Pokemon Gym. Green had caught up. 

"Why are you already searching for the gym?! You should look for a Pokemon Centre first to heal your Pokemon first before the big battle!" Green shouted at Sapphire, irritated at Sapphire's cockiness. 

At last Sapphire found the gym. It was a blue circular building with a huge picture of a Dewgong at the top of the building. There is coral pictures on the rims of the flat roof. 

Sapphire's heart sank when she saw a small sign on the front of the door when she approached it.

"Sorry challengers, I'm at the Cerulean Swimming Competition all day today! It is at the Cerulean Pokémon Pool, you should participate if you have water type Pokemon on your team. It's a lot of fun! I hope you will forgive me!

'ARRRGH!" Growled Sapphire, frustrated "I WANT TO CHALLENGE THIS MISTY NOW! NOOOOW!"

Sapphire clenched her fists and started stamping on the ground with her temper tantrum!

"I WANT TO TO GET MY SECOND BADGE NOW AND BECOME THE KANTO CHAMPION!

"For the love of Arceus, calm down Sapphire! Your Pokemon aren't even fully fighting fit!" Shouted Green as she patted her back. 

Sapphire took some deep breaths as she calmed down. She held Green's left hand.

"That's good. Now, first things first, we should go to the Pokemon Centre to heal our Pokemon. And then we should check out the swimming competition, like Misty says so."

"Well, we don't know who she is." Sapphire said.

"We will soon find out." Green replied. "Lets go!"

Sapphire and Green found the Pokemon Centre quite close to the gym. They gave their tired Pokemon to Nurse Joy and waited for their Pokemon to be healed.

"Do you know where this Pokemon Pool is?" Sapphire asked Green.

"No, I haven't even been to Cerulean City before, so I wouldn't have  a clue. I've been stuck at that Breeding Centre with my mum for months!"

"Maybe we should go ask someone?" Said Sapphire.

"Good idea." 

Sapphire looked at a man at a table eating lasagna with an Eevee. He had a green hat.

"Excuse me." 

The man paused eating and looked at Sapphire's aqua blue eyes.

"Do you know where the Cerulean City Pokémon Pool is?"

"Oh yes, it is just a bit east from here. You take the road to the right and turn a corner. It is a very large building with a blue roof. And it has a picture of a Lapras on the top of the building."

"Thank you so much!"

"No problems." The man said. But then he sighed. "I wish I can participate, but my Eevee doesn't want to evolve into a Vaporeon yet, so I have to hold off his evolution until he feels ready. I wish I can force him to evolve for this competition, but that is just wrong!" 

"Yeah it is, I won't force my Pikachu to evolve with a Thunder Stone unless he wants to." 

"What Pokemon are you planning on using for the competition?" The man asked Sapphire curiously. 

"My Popplio." Smiled Sapphire. "She is ready to do anything!"

"Blimey!" The man gasped. "That's a Pokemon from all the way from Alola? How in the Pokemon World did you get one?"

"I was going to get a Squirtle as a starter, but they were all taken. A man named Professor Kukui sent the Alolan starters to Professor Oak and I received my Popplio from him!" 

"Well, good luck in the competition" the man said and he continued eating his lasagna. 

"Thank you."

Just then, the number flashed on the screen and Sapphire and Green got back their Pokemon. They headed out the Pokemon Centre, and using the directions the man said, they made it easily to the Pokemon Pool. The man was right! The building was huge!

"Holy Arceus!" Gasped Sapphire. "That is one colossal sized building!" 

There were a lot of people lining up in the entrance and there were stalls in the front of the building selling lots of things, including Squirtle t-shirts and blueberry pies.
