Chapter five

Today I woke up at 7:48, I had quite a good sleep, well not really, but the best I've had in a week. I still had the dreams but they weren't as intense. Thankfully. I had a shower and got my breakfast. No one was awake, except Stacey, who was in the lounge watching sleeping beauty, so I hurried to get my beach stuff, the party started at 10:00.
'Um.......Princess? I don't know how to get to the beach. Wait for me? When are you leaving.'
I laughed 'sure, I'm leaving in 10 minutes, you ready?'
'I will be'
'How far apart can you talk telepathically?'
'Dunno, depends how powerful you are'
'How far can you go?'
'I don't know, I can't talk to people in other countries, but quite far I guess, I'm only a newbie as well.'
'Cool, better go see you in 10 minutes.'
'See ya'

"You took your time?"
"Sorry I had a slight problem with my mum, so we might be a bit late for the party. Sorry"
He laughed "that's fine, I just wanted to say 'you took your time', do you want me to carry something? All my stuff is in here" he turned and shook his rucksack.
"No it's fine, I'll manage"
He then took one of my bags off me and swung it to and fro as he walked, I rolled my eyes and carried on walking.
"How long does it take to get there?"
"About 20 minutes, my mum says its too short a distance for her to drive me so I've got to walk."
"I can get Magnus to come and pick us up at the end if you want? He won't mind"
"We'll see"
We carried on talking about random rubbish like school and other things, I couldn't think of anything clever or even remotely interesting to say so he came up with pretty much all the conversations, which, by the time we got to the beach were really random, but we won't go into detail about that. When we got there, to the beach I mean, there were loads of people, which I was quite surprised about as it was 10:07 on a Saturday. I tried to see over people's heads trying to locate Katrina.
Justin leant over and whispered "Her and Calvin are just coming, they arrived a little after us."
"How do you.... oh........" Half way through I realised, "that power is quite useful isn't it?"
He grinned "it has its moments, come on, they're this way"
I followed him a little way until we spotted Katrina and Calvin, I waved them over.

"Hey guys, where are we sitting up?"
"Ohhhh, over here in the sun" Katrina pointed to this place a couple of feet from the water which was thankfully for her gradually going out.
After we set up me and Katrina decided we would like to go swimming and then sunbathe to dry off, as it was such a beautiful day. The boys said they would join us but were already in their trunks so could just whip off their shirts when we were ready so we shuttled off to the toilets to change.
"So?" As soon as we go to the bathroom Katrina was pestering me about Justin.
"So what?" I knew what she was asking but decided to play along a bit.
"Don't give me that look Lav, so how do you like Justin?"
I have no idea what I am supposed to say to that, "I like him"
"Just like?"
"Kat! What do you want to know? I barely know him!"
"Alright, alright, I will drop the subject, for now......" She grinned at me in a weird sort of way. "Well, I'm really sorry Lav, but I can't stay long today, you know my mums getting remarried tomorrow?" I nodded "Well she wants to have a run through tonight and me being a bridesmaid, anyway, we'd better get changed. We've taken long enough"
We both hurried to get our swimsuits on, we went on a shopping spree a few weeks earlier and picked them out. I got a swimsuit with added shorts and Katrina, preferring a more girly look chose a swimsuit with an added skirt, which, to be honest did suit her. As we approached the boys they quickly removed there shirts, which got me an elbow in the ribs from Katrina. We dumped our clothes next to our stuff.
"Race you all to the water." I shouted then ran ahead of them.
We all splashed into the water one after another. I ran straight in until I was up to my waist in the clear turquoise water. Katrina on the other hand wasn't so brave with the cool water because as soon as she ran in she squealed and started to run out, that is until Calvin ran and grabbed her around her waist before she made it. He tried to pull her further into the water, but she was struggling so they both ended up going under the water and they both cam up gasping I laughed and decided the best way to get over the coolness of the water was to dive under, so I gracefully dived under, savouring the cool water.
When I swam back up to the surface I noticed that some other people from my class were a bit further over playing with a beach ball in the small waves.
"Look guys let's go and play with them" I pointed in there direction.
"You sure? You don't really like mingling with school... outside school." Kat looked at me suspiciously.
"Oh, come on. Take one for the team."
"Come on then" Calvin started swimming towards them, closely followed by Justin and the rest of us.
"Hey guys, mind if we join?" Calvin asked, him being the one that's friendly with everyone.
"Sure" a tall blonde in the year below us answered, as she looked Justin up and down, making me really worried, that I might have to compete for Justin's attention.
'Haha, don't worry, I'm not really interested in the blonde hair, blue eye thing anyway' he winked at me.
I just glared 'Stop reading my thoughts, they're private'
'Haha, I can tell'
Someone passed me the ball so I threw it to a boy opposite me called mason, the game followed on in a series of passes and throws, but I enjoyed it. After playing catch we played around a bit more in the sea until it was lunch time. A few of the guys in my year had bought BBQs so we all had to bring stuff to cook on them. Me and Katrina made a deal that she'd bring the burgers, I would bring the rolls and Calvin would bring the drink, we all agreed to bring enough for Justin as well so it all worked out great, and to sum it up Justin bought donuts for us all!
Once we'd finished eating we sunbathed, me and Kat did anyway Justin got dragged along by Calvin to go and meet some of the other boys in our year. I lifted my head just to see them approach a small group of girls one of which was the tall blonde, who I think is called Kirsty. Well anyway she offered Justin some of her crisps, which I thought was slightly weird, she's giving a stranger crisps, I would never do that, doesn't matter how hot they are. I decided I would probably do something stupid if I kept watching so I lazily dropped my head back down onto my towel.
I was falling asleep when Justin gently nudged my shoulder and whispered, "if you have a dream, how do you react? Do you wake up screaming or sweating, because I wouldn't go to sleep if I was you, in front of all these people."
"I suppose you're right." I sighed and sat up. "What shall we do now?"
"We could make a sand castle."
"That's really childish."
"No way I love making sandcastle's!"
"Fine." I rolled my eyes "but we don't have any spades, we would have to make a sculpture."
"Fine with me, what sculpture shall we make? Car, boat, plane?"
"Um....... As we're at the beach we'll make a... plane" I grinned.
"Planes aren't usually at the be........." I silenced him with a gentle kiss, no I'm just kidding, I wish though, I silenced him by jumping up and saying "come on!"
He scrambled to his feet and ran to catch up with me.
"Where are we making it?" He asked.
"Um, over there" I pointed towards a flat part of sand quite near the sea.
"But when the sea comes in it will die!" He looked horrified at the suggestion.
"Fine you pick somewhere."
I followed him over to a more sandy area on the beach out of reach of the waves which were soon going to start coming back in. We spent ages on it and I noticed that Justin was very artistic. About half an hour after we'd started Kat woke up so her and Calvin decided to join us on our sculpture of a plane. It took us an hour and a half to finish it, but all four of us could fit in it, Calvin and Justin as the pilots and me and Kat as the passengers. It was really fun.
"Cal, what's the time?" Katrina asked
"Um almost five." Calvin replied.
Katrina jumped up "are you serious!? I'm suppose to be at the church at five! Crap! Bye guys."
"Do you want a lift to the church?" Calvin jumped to his feet as well.
"Oh, would you? Thanks sweetie. Just let me get changed." She then ran off.
"Well then, bye guys. See you on Monday, or at the wedding if you're going."
"Bye" I jumped up and gave Calvin a hug before he went off to collect his things.
With both of them gone I thought let the awkwardness begin.
"Wow, it's getting chilly" Justin said. "I'm going to get changed now, what about you? You getting changed?."
"Yeah, I think so, I'm starting to shiver."
"Awwwww do you want a hug?" He held his arms open.
For a second I almost crept into them, then I thought better of it. "No, I don't think so." I smiled.
We wandered over to the toilets and went our separate ways. When I entered the toilets who do you think I saw! Yup the tall blonde, why am I seeing her everywhere!?
She looked me up and down then stretched out her hand. "Lavender, isn't it? I'm krissy." I was almost there with Kirsty.
"Um, hey."
"So is the newbie your boyfriend?" She looked so innocent, but I still didn't like her, I watched her slide onto the bit of side board next to the sinks.
"Justin? No, not really" I tried to hide the annoyance in my voice.
"Oh good, I mean, cool" she paused "you want to hook us up?" Her face was serious.
I held in a laugh knowing he didn't really like her "I can try if you want,"
"He looks like good dating material, so yea, hook us up, here's my number" she handed me a scrap of paper with some numbers scribbled onto it.
"Um, thanks. Well, I've got to get changed now so,"I pointed to the cubicles.
"You're jealous, aren't you?"
I turned to her "jealous of what?"
"Me of course, you like Justin but you aren't brave enough to ask him out. You wish you were like me don't you?"
"You don't even know what he's going to say yet." I started getting impatient, not trying to hide the annoyance in my voice now.
"Oh, please. Look at me " she pointed at herself "who doesn't want this?" She laughed like it was he funniest thing on earth then strolled out like she owned the place. Man what a weirdo, she's a year younger but acts a year older.
"you took long enough" I smiled as I walked down the steps from the toilet.
"so Justin, um you know that blonde girl?...."
He laughed "the one that has a crush on me? Yeah"
"Well in there " I pointed behind me "she met me and wanted me to ask you out for her, I said I would, and..." I buried my hand in my pocket and bought it back out with the scrap of paper. "Here's her number." 'He looks like dating material' I mimicked in my head.
I looked up at him and laughed at the face he was making. "No way," he shoved the paper back into my hand. I looked over and caught her eye, she made the face that looked like she wanted me to go over towards her.
"Hang on Justin." I walked over to her. "He said no."
"WHAT!? Ha you're lying, you little troll." Okay so maybe she had a couple of inches on me, no reason to call me a little troll!!
"Look, I asked him out for you, he said 'no', not my problem."
She glared at me. "Introduce me, now!"
"Seriously girl, he said no. Plus he saw that little tantrum you just had." To make matters worse Justin decided it would be funny to show up at that moment.
"Hey, Krissy isn't it?" He smiled that know it all smile. She practically melted, whereas I almost vomited.
She giggled "yes. And you're Justin!" She said far too quickly. Man, I thought, this girl is in year 11! Yea she was pretty but she had no social skills with hot boys, or maybe guys liked giggly blondes, I don't know.
"Yea, I'll be over next to the ice cream van." I pointed in the direction of the van.
"Oh, buy me one. A mr wippy please." Justin handed me some change. I glared at him. Krissy looked really glad to be rid of me. Last thing of the conversation I heard was a girly voice saying 'she treats you really badly doesn't she." I rolled my eyes.
I watched them from a distance licking my ice cream. (I used some of Justin's left over money)
'Hurry up, your mr wippy is melting all over me'
'Just lick it, I'll be there in a minute, just going through the, no really I'm not going out with you, stage.'
I glanced over at them and laughed, which was bad, because she was pretty much in tears she deserved it though, in my opinion anyway. She stormed off and Justin wandered over like he goes through that everyday, and with those looks, he probably does.
"It's melting everywhere princess, I would have thought you would have taken better care of it! I am disgusted with you."
"Don't speak to your princess in such an ill manner!!" I put on as posh an accent as I could.
He bowed "sorry my lady, so you know those guys over there with the kayaks? Well they said we could go in them, I was talking to them while you were getting changed, don't worry they said that we probably wouldn't get wet."
"I don't know I'm really quite cold, and if I do get wet I have no more clothes, only a towel."
"It will be fine, please." Crap, how could I say no to those eyes? I'm such a weirdo.
I threw up my hands "fine"

Am I seriously sitting in a kayak in the middle of the sea? I thought to myself.
'Yup' I glared at him.
'Shut up Justin'
'My bad'
"Race you to that buoy!" He shouted over his shoulder.
"Cheater!" We had races here and there and half an hour later I was getting really tired, and hungry for that matter.
"I'm going back now Justin. You coming?"
"Yea, I'll be there in a minute."
As I paddled to shore a huge wave, and when i say huge i mean literally massive, crashed down on me as if from no where, the whole kayak capsized and I got dragged beneath the waves, there wasn't even time to scream. So much for not getting wet.
