Chapter Four

I'm not going to write about school, or my bad nights I keep having, because they probably bore you, so I will go straight to going home then walking over to Magnus and Justin's house. Justin and me walked to my house then he waited like a gentleman outside while I got changed and told my mum I was going out. Thankfully she didn't ask where, otherwise she probably wouldn't have let me go, not knowing Magnus very well yet.
"Got everything" Justin asked as I walked out of the house in a pair of jeans and an old t-shirt.
"Do I need anything?"
"No not really" he put on a thoughtful face "no you don't, I don't know why I said that, anyway, lets go."
I grinned at him then said, "race you" I beat him easy, I did have a head start and he still has his school bag on, so...... Easy win I think. Plus it was only about 10 meters to his door, any further and I surely would have lost.
"Cheater" he said as he opened the door, putting his arm out for me to go first
"Looser" I said as I walked in.
We walked into the lounge, the only room I had ever been in besides the hallway.
"I'm just going to get changed, is that alright?"
"Justin" I said slowly, "you don't need my permission to go and get changed."
"Just checking princess," he closed his eyes for a second, "my uncle is just coming now, I'm guessing he's just been to town, judging by the shopping bags in the back of the car." He smiled mischievously, he just turned to go when I said
"Seeing where people are can be useful, but Magnus can control things that's a big power, do you ever feel jealous?" I blushed suddenly worried I'd offended him.
He turned back around and walked to the sofa where I was sitting and sat next to me, "a few months ago I started having the dreams, dreams start a month or so before your seventeenth birthday, they stop when you turn seventeen, for me that was December the seventh last year. That's when your main powers come, telepathy comes before that. Magnus trained me, and said that you either have one big power or two small ones. Or in really rare cases you can have one big and one small one, but you can only have that if your mum and dad are sorcerers. That's what happened to me. But only I know I've got both, well me and you now. Not even Magnus knows. It's one of the hardest powers to control I think, not that I've tried any others. It's a mind reading power. Usually I try not to but when I first saw you I couldn't help it, I heard pretty much every word you said." He grinned at me.
I gaped, not sure wether to believe him "everything?"
"Everything"
I gulped, that's embarrassing, I thought blushing my head off (not literally although I sort of wish I was)
He laughed "don't be embarrassed princess." I could have kicked myself,
Then he looked down at his chest and patted it, "I do have a nice chest don't I?"
"I am going to kill you." I fell back into the pillows on the sofa and groaned. "I hate you, hope you know that."
He just laughed got up and walked out of the room. I seriously could have killed myself at that moment.
"Anybody home?" Magnus poked his head in the door, "oh, hello lavender. Where's Justin? Upstairs?"
"Well he said he was going to get changed and I'm not sure where anything but the lounge is so, I have no idea." He chuckled
"I suppose you're right. Come with me"
'You never asked for a tour princess'
He gave me a quick tour then we went back to the lounge where we found Justin sitting there reading a magazine about the royal family.
"I've been expecting you." He said looking us both up and down. "Welcome take a seat. You sit here," he said pointing at Magnus then at the chair in his right. "And you ma'm sit there." He said pointing to the seat in front of him. We sat.
"I think that magazine is rubbing of on you Justin, or should I call you Sir Justin?" Magnus asked
"Sir Justin is fine" Justin leaned back on the couch he was sitting on.
"Okay, what do we do know?" I asked
"First we'll just talk and then we will try and talk to you telepathically. So do you have any questions about any thing?" Magnus asked.
"Not really" I answered
"Nothing? Not even about the powers?"
"Well Justin explained some of that before you got back."
"Oh and I expect he told you about his power misfortune" he winked
Justin rolled his eyes, "yes uncle I told her about just having one power, and it's not a misfortune." I turned to look at him, wow, I thought he is a very convincing lier.
'Im an alright lier'
I just glared at him, then I turned back to Magnus who was staring at us curiosity written all over his face, "what was that about?"
"Oh, nothing" I answered innocently. "You know I do have a question"
"Oh, yes?"
"You know in my dream I told you about yesterday, the was that stone that everyone was fighting over, why?"
"Ohhhh, something that Justin didn't tell you, so that stone, what did it look like?"
"Well it was a shiny rock, but it was like three rocks attached to each other. An emerald green, ruby red and a Sapphire blue."
"I thought as much. The stone is called the element gemstone, this is because every six years it lets off the power of one of the three main elements, water fire and earth. Meaning the sapphire is water, ruby is fire and emerald is earth, although earth is more plants and that sort of stuff."
"I get it, so why does everyone want the stone?"
"Who doesn't? I've even tried to find it, but of course, no such luck. The last person known to have it, you see it passes from generation to generation, was a Clifford hans."
I suddenly bolted upright. "Clifford hans!?" I asked.
"You know him?"Magnus asked
"He's my grandad!" I suddenly went quiet "He died the year I was turned four"
Magnus just stared. "Your grandad!? Oh my, I'm so sorry Lavender" he looked at me sadly "So do you think that we can find it then? The stone I mean."
"Um, I don't know, like I said he died, oh, wait did you say that it passes down from generation to generation!?"
"Yes"
"So your dad probably has it, doesn't he princess,"
I nodded "If the stone went straight to my dad when my grandad died that would be around the time he started acting up. But I don't even know if he's dead or alive."
"You're an only child, right? Besides your half sister"
"Right" I nodded "wait, are you saying it would pass down to me?"
"That is exactly what I'm saying. But if your dad was dead the element gemstone would find you some how, it's magic that way. The last person to use it pretty much owns it but anyone of the same blood can use it, and it keeps passing down that blood line until someone of another blood uses it. If the blood line dies out then the gemstone can be lost for a number of years."
I thought for a moment. "So unless someone other than my dad has used it, it still belongs to my dad."
Magnus nodded. "Anyway we can talk about this another time, right now we need to start practising the telepathy. Telepathy is easy communication between two or more people, you can communicate with the people you want unless they have one of the main powers of telepathy then they can hear what other people are saying. So we'll start by Justin talking to you and you need to try and talk back to him the way he speaks to you. Got it?"
"Yes, I think so" I nodded
'Try and talk back to me the same way I'm talking to you now'
I tried to follow his voice and it felt like walking a tightrope and I was nearly there, but then it felt like the rope shook a bit and I lost my balance, falling off.
"I can't." I felt so pathetic, especially in front of Justin.
"No one can do it the first time, or the second, rarely the third so keep trying, don't give, up."
He spoke to me again 'I did it my fourth go, but I guess I'm just a natural' so I tried and I failed....again.
The evening went on just the same (I failed) we had a break where we ordered some Chinese because Magnus forgot about dinner. At about 7:30 Justin and me walked back to my house.
'See you tomorrow princess'
'Bye, see you tomorrow'
We both stopped in our tracks, I had just done it! I couldn't help it I heard it and instead of talking back normally I actually spoke telepathically! I'm not even sure how I did it. A whole evening of trying and I did it on the walk home! My brain is messed up.
"That was slightly unexpected" Justin grinned at me as I did a weird dance to celebrate, which I seriously regretted, never do dances like that in front of the guy as hot as Justin.
The door in front of us opened,
"Lavender? Is that you?"
I quickly said bye to Justin (again) then I wandered into the house so proud that I actually did it!

Today (Friday) when I went to Justin's I had to try and start talking telepathically not just trying to follow Justin's voice, which, take my word for it, is hard. But I seemed to master it faster than I thought I would. But I could only talk telepathically to Justin so I had to try and practise talking to Magnus as well. Which took me longer than I thought. But after that, they said I would be able to communicate with basically anyone. Which I thought was cool.
But only to other sorcerers, but still cool.
