I swear I've been in this room for hours, I did have a watch on but they kindly took that along with my phone. Which sucks. But I'm glad I'm not still in that interrogation room, although this room isn't much better, it's pretty much a cell. I can't see any cameras though, so at least I have a little privacy. The room is bare there is a bed against the wall but its not like a cell bed its quite a comfortable bed which I would be glad to sleep on if I didn't want to let my guard down. They said they would be back to get me once they came up with a plan, obviously they can't come up with a plan. I'm tired and my stomach is rumbling none stop, it must be past lunch time, and I didn't get breakfast.
I was sitting feeling sorry for myself when Rupert walked in. How useful his power would be in this situation.
"Hey, are you alright?"
"Hungry but yea, I'm sure you have nicer rooms then this, how do you guys expect to leave me here and not get bored out of my skull!?" I lay back on the bed "I hate this place"
"Sorry you've had to wait so long and I'm sorry you couldn't come to my house in a nicer situation, not that it's my house, I just live here." Hmm, okay...
"So have you come up with something yet? You've come to take me away from here haven't you?" I sat up and put on a hopeful face.
"Not exactly"
"Not exactly?"
"Well I've come to take you to lunch" he smiled "they were going to make me bring up a tray but I refused and insisted that you weren't a prisoner."
I got to my feet "thanks but I kind of am" I walked ahead of him through the open door and waited for him to take the lead. I followed him to where I assumed was the servant courters in the olden days, or nowadays as there are still people working down there. We walked into the kitchen and there was a man next to the stove frying something that smelt delicious, my tummy rumbled again, I looked down at my wrist to see the time but remembering I had no watch sighed.
"Tommy this is lavender, the girl I spoke to you about. She's really nice when she's not in a bad mood." He winked at me.
"Lavender!" 'Tommy's, eyes lit up and he grabbed my hand and started shaking it violently "how I've waited to meet you! I've heard so much about you"
"Uhhh, thanks" I didn't know what to say so I just looked at the small old man in front of me. He had thin grey hair and was a bit shorter than me.
"Sit down sit down" he motioned to the little table in the corner with two cute little chairs, I wandered over to them and gently pulled one of the chairs down and sat. "And you Rupert." Rupert came over and sat opposite me.
"You hungry Lavender?"
"Starving" was my reply.
"good I've made lots." He bought our plates piled high with eggs, bacon, toast, beans and little potato waffles. "I realize its more of a breakfast than a lunch but oh well" he shrugged.
"it's fine I didn't have breakfast this morning anyway."
"You didn't!? You must be starving!"
I picked up my fork and knife and started shoveling the food into my mouth. By the end I was full and happy again (well as happy as one can be in my situation, I'm a little surprised by how calm I am) I lay back in my seat.
"I wish I was kidnapped everyday if I get to eat like this, and as long as I don't get beaten up every time, but this meal makes up for that I think."
"WHAT?" Tommy shouted, turning to Rupert "you beat her up?"
"What!? No!" Rupert shook his head "Marshal"
"Oh, I'd like to teach that boy a lesson I would."
"Wouldn't we all." Rupert shrugged. "One day Tom"
"Yep, anyway what am I doing standing around chatting when there is work to be done!?" He walked out of the room to moments later return with a beautifully decorated cake. Oh it was magnificent. There was white frosting that spiraled with red in the middle making a pinky colour. And right in the middle where the pink spiral came to a stop was a huge 3D rose made of icing which looked like it was blooming out the middle. I just stared.
"Sorry you're lunch was late and it wasn't a proper meal just an English breakfast but when I heard it was your birthday I just had to make you a cake."
"Oh, my gosh! I have never had such a fancy cake before and home made too?" I stared in amazement.
"Well don't just stare at it!" He handed me a knife.
"Oh I don't know if I can slice it, it's too beautiful. If I had my phone I would take a picture but unfortunately that got taken too." I smiled regretfully.
"I've already taken a few photos when it was in the pantry, I can send you them if you like."
"Thanks" I gently took the knife and sliced through the cake, I was devastated, how can food look so good, it makes me upset to eat it (that was until I tried it, then it seemed too good not to eat) . The inside was a Victoria sponge that was multi coloured, I'm not sure how he did it there seems to be smarties in it, I didn't know smarties could go in cakes but there we go. I gave everyone a slice and when we'd finished Rupert said he'd better take me back. I slowly stood. I really didn't want to go back to that cell.
"Don't worry lavender." Tommy smiled as we started for the door. "You look after her now Justin." I stopped and turned "oh sorry Rupert I'm always getting confused. How is your cousin these days?" I stared, they weren't talking about the Justin I knew were they? But of course, they were.
"Oh, he's fine, didn't you see him yesterday? He was here"
"He was? Why didn't he stay longer?"
"Oh, you know, he's got school."
I listened closely and just to make sure they were talking about 'Justin' I asked "what school would that be?"
"Oh, I'm not sure the name, but he lives next door to you, you've probably met him."
"Really. Oh." I frowned, looking closer Rupert did look a bit familiar...
"Come on we should really be getting on."
So we walked out.
"Is tommy related to you at all?"
"Yep, he's my grandad. Are you alright, you look a bit shell shocked."
"It's fine just tired, too much excitement for one day I think."
"Oh, I understand. Well, you have a rest when I go and check if they're ready for you, okay?"
"Yea, okay." Once he left I collapsed into my bed. Five minutes later I was asleep. Twenty minutes later I was woken up and four minutes after that I was back in the interrogation room. Talk about bring hustled!
"Lavender, we have come up with a plan."
"Finally" I muttered under my breath.
"You will go and find your father and bring back the element stone."
"Seriously!?"
"You have a problem with the plan?"
"No, but it took you how many hours to come up with such a simple plan?"
Only laughter followed my remark then the voice came back, "oh, believe me, it's not so simple as you might think my dear Lavender. You have a week to do this or we'll step in and believe me, things wont be so pretty."
"A week!? No one has seen my dad in years. How am I suppose to find him in a week?"
"You'll find him, and someone must have seen him. You'll be setting off on Wednesday"
"Well no one I know has seen him, and why am I not starting tomorrow, surely the sooner the better."
"No we need to make sure you're prepared and have the right people with you."
"What? So I get body guards too?"
"Think of them more as your team."
"So if you're sending people with me why do you have me in the first place?"
"You're our inside girl."
"Oh, yea? And what are you going to do once you find him, or even if you find him?"
"Why? Are you worried about a man you haven't seen in over ten years?"
"As a matter of fact, yes"
"Nothing you need to be worried about"
I glared at the mirror.
"I think she's ready to go back to her room now Rupert. Oh and Lavender, tomorrow morning you'll be bought back to this room to be run through with the plan in more detail and to be introduced to your team. Have a wonderful evening now."
Rupert walked into the room "hey, you alright? Bit of a challenge eh? Hey look on the bright side you might get me on your team!" He grinned and I just about managed a smile before I followed him out the room down the corridor and into my 'cell'.
