It wasn't the same as when the other place was collapsing, instead it was a gentle rumble. Only the clearing seemed to shake.
In addition, none of the elementals reacted, staying still and watching Sunset.
Six pillars rose from the ground, around the still body, the carvings in the stone glowing in different colors. Blue, red, yellow, green, grey, and white.
"One for each elemental type..." Lucerne muttered quietly, observing. "Water, fire, electric, earth, wind, and ice..."
The tips of each pillar glowed before shooting into the sky, rainbow of colors.
Sunset's body laid motionless, unaffected by the pillars or beams.
"Is this some kind of ceremony..?" Lucerne asked, hoping for a response.
Avaro just shrugged, keeping his eyes on the beams in the sky.
Thats when he noticed movement below, a collection of brown and rainbow colored cats. Lucerne gaped.
"It's a call! For the other elementals!" He gasped, looking over at the arriving water elementals.
"Woah..." Avaro breathed, spotting the wind and electric elementals flapping down. Each type near their respected color, the ice elementals being the only ones remaining.
"Do you think they can make it?" Lucerne exclaimed quietly, turning to his friend. "They all looked so frail and it hasn't even been a day!"
"They can make it..." Avaro reassured. "I know they can."
He watched the empty spot by the white pillar, waiting.
By this time, everything has gon silent. The birds, bugs, even Renny, the low hums from the beams all that remained. Until rustling announced the ice elementals arrival.
"How did they all get here so fast?!" Lucerne asked quietly, watching the pastel felines took their spot. No one answered his question, the beams had faded away.
Avaro looked up, his eyebrows raising as he sharply nudged his friend.
"Ack-" Lucerne coughed, glancing at Avaro before looking up as well.
The sun was sliding across the sky, but everything else remained still. The planet was flipping over.
"How..." Lucerne didn't finish his sentence, watching the sky quickly darken and stars brighten, shooting past like meteors. The planet didn't stop until it was midnight, the streaks shrinking down to glowing specks.
It was dark, no moon in sight, the only light was from the glowing pillars lighting up all the cats' faces.
Avaro watched as cats began to dip their head in respect, leaving the only three bipedal creatures standing awkwardly. Renny dropped to her knees to sob, blending in with the others. It was no longer silent, cats had begun to sniffle and cry while Lucerne re-attached to Avaro's arm.
Were the wild cats and prophets here? Avaro couldn't see them. Did they notice the sudden change in the day?
He wasn't going to check, the ground around Sunset had just started glowing.
Everyone looked up and watched as a white dome covered the body. For a second Avaro expected it to melt into the ground, return life back to its core. But instead the dome lifted after a few seconds, leaving a small white glowing ball at the top.
Avaro wanted to asked about it, ask about what was going on. But it felt like his gut told him the answer.
Watch and find out.
Sunset's body sparked, a small flame on her side igniting. Quickly spreading until her entire body was a fireball, so bright that no one could see the body below.
Little embers flecked off her, getting absorbed by the small ball of white light. No, a small white rock, surrounded by white light.
Bit by bit the fireball shrunk until it was nothing more than the size of a baseball.
Cats gasped in awe as the fire bounced and started floating underneath the rock. Avaro wasn't too sure what was so amazing, if anything he felt horrible. He'd just watched a friend basically get cremated under the night sky of the home she never got to enjoy.
Two yellow spots flickered on the fireball, almost looking like eyes.
They were eyes.
"She's an element Avaro... That's her soul..." Lucerne breathed, having it click first.
Avaro joined in on the gasps.
For something so small, it carried a lot of light and warmth. The entire clearing felt comfortable, at least for those who tolerated heat. The ice elementals were probably not too happy.
Sunset's soul looked around, it's little yellow eyes blinking as it fell into Renny. The potion maker got to her feet, eyes still streaming with tears. She straightened and smiled, telling Sunset that she is, and will be okay.
The little dots squinted back with a mouthless smile, turning to Blaze. The young cat beamed, feeling important and rengonized. Sunset's soul bounced a little, soundlessly laughing.
Avaro felt his throat close up as the yellow eyes turned to him. What was he supposed to say? To do?
Lucerne tugged on his arm, looking up at him with a small smile.
Avaro blinked at his friend, turning back to the soul snd giving it a tearful smile, even lifting up his hand in a little wave.
"Goodbye Sunset,"
The fireball smiled back, it's body starting to fall apart and return to the glowing rock. The last bit giving off a final farewell spark.
Glowing brightly, the ball of white slowly descended back into the ground, each pillar fading as the planet started to spin once more. The sky brightening.
It was over. Sunset had returned to the earth, at peace."Aw, leaving so soon?" Blaze whined, jumping around a pillar.
"We stayed for an extra three days! I need a real bath!" Avaro laughed, patting her head as she bounced over.
"Renny offered you one multiple times," Lucerne pointed out, holding a basket of gifts some elementals had given them.
"Well I don't trust her million shampoos," the dragon retaliated, snagging an odd squishy fruit from the basket. Petal had given it to him, her kit squealing at Lucerne. "You're my hero!" He'd cried while the celestial tried to calm him, embarrassed.
Lucerne just sighed, seeing no point in arguing.
"You promise to visit, right?" Blaze meowed, looking up at him with wide eyes.
"Why would I not?" Avaro chuckled, scratching her cheek. The young elemental purred and nuzzled his hand. "Will Renny visit?" She asked as well.
"I'm sure she would. Her friend gave up her life to return her kind to their home. Renny wouldn't abandon it now,"
The young woman had left the day before, thanking everyone for their time and generosity, she'd gotten a basket as well. Before she had returned home though, Renny made sure to have a few words with Avaro and Lucerne.
"I'll be traveling again soon, so I might not be home often," she informed. "Though I'll make sure to leave notes when I do leave, so you all know where I am at,"
"Stay safe out there," Lucerne said, Avaro nodding.
"I will, maybe I can visit OCTown sometime. I've heard about it, but never had the chance to see it,"
"We'll be happy to see you, as well as Estella," Avaro laughed, getting a chuckle from the alchemist.
"Thank you all for the help and support," Renny hugged them both. "May we meet again sometime soon!" She added before hopping through her portal.
Since then Avaro was curious on her whereabouts, continuing her journey alone. But he had his own journey to worry about now.
Avaro took a bite of the fruit, it's red juices squirting out and making a mess.
"Woah!" He coughed with his mouth full.
"And now your clothes need to be washed as well," Lucerne snickered, pointing at the now purple splotches on his blue shirt.
"Aw man... I hope this doesn't stain!" Avaro whined, frowning at the fruit.
Blaze laughed. "This is why I don't eat fruit!" She giggled.
"Or maybe it's because you now live in a cave next to a pool of lava!" Avaro commented, chucking the juicy fruit as far as he can into the forest.
The central clearing was bright and radiant, the six pillars still standing. Cinder and Torch were exploring, waiting for when Blaze was ready to go home.
"I didn't live there my whole life you know!" She protested.
"Yeah yeah," Avaro chuckled.
"Avaro, aren't we supposed to be heading back to OCTown?" Lucerne said, slightly rasing his voice for attention.
"Right right, give me a hug," Avaro opened his arms and Blaze raised on her hind legs, flopping onto him.
"Oof, wow you're fat!" He teased, hugging the elemental.
"I'm big boned!" She snickered back, sliding back down to her feet and stepping back.
"Sure, alright. Goodbye Blaze," Avaro chuckled, waving.
He watched his friend grin and bounce away to Cinder and Torch, the trio heading off back to their home.
"I think they like it here," he said,
to Lucerne.
"Of course, this place was made for them," the celestial responded with a shrug. "Should we go now?"
"Hold on, give me five more minutes," Avaro replied, walking to a pillar. The carvings neat and curved in such a way it looked like flames.
"You know, someone had to have build this," he said, putting a hand on the markings.
"Hm?" Lucerne tilted his head.
"The person who brought the elementals here, do you think they made this? All of it, even the mountains and lakes and caves, all of it,"
"I... Wouldn't say it's impossible," the celestial beast replied, walking over next to Avaro.
"Really? You think someone can actually shape the ground into whatever they want?" the dragon exclaimed.
"O-Of course! Back in my universe, the Celestial Mother is the one who made three entire planets for us," Lucerne said, Avaro looking amazed.
"Wow... I didn't think creatures can be so powerful..."
The celestial laughed. "Of course creatures can be powerful! This multiverse is huge, who knows what's in it," he chuckled.
"Why hasn't anyone enslaved the planets then? If they're that powerful?" Avaro asked.
"I never said there wasn't any enslaved planets, there's just so much," Lucerne looked at the sky. "Even if someone tried, they would get quickly overwhelmed by how much there is. Maybe even fall to a massive revolution,"
Avaro nodded slowly, understanding. "Makes sense, I don't think I'd be able to control a child let alone a massive galaxy... Or two... Or ten... Or a hundred... Oh wow I already feel overwhelmed thinking about it," he shook the thought from his head.
Lucerne chuckled. "Why don't we head back to OCTown now? Before your head explodes?"
Avaro nodded. "Alright... Let's go back home now,"
His friend gave him a smile and stepped back, raising an arm to open a portal. "Leads to the main room,"
"Thanks," the dragon nodded before walking through the portal, Lucerne following.
After over a week, they were finally going back home.
"I hope they aren't too mad at me..."
Avaro thought as he felt the surroundings become more familiar.
