"WHAT?!" Avaro jumped to his feet, wide awake now. "Are you sure?!"
"Positive, let's go now!" Renny replied, getting up and quickly heading out of the den.
"Hey wait!" Avaro scurried after her, Lucerne just behind him in his human form.
He caught up to the potion maker, eyes adjusting to the morning light. It was early seven AM, Avaro would've woken up sooner ot later on his own.
Good thing she caught him sooner. A morning flight would've made it hard for them to find him.
"What are we going to do? What's the plan?" Avaro asked, having no clue where Renny was going.
"I already know how to make a portal to the old world. So we're going to send them there," she answered.
"Now?!"
"There isn't going to be a tomorrow, Avaro!" Renny snapped, making it to Spike's tree.
"Spike! Spike wake up!" She yelled.
"Is she trying to wake everyone up?" Lucerne hissed to Avaro, watching as Spike eventually pulled herself out of her den.
"What is it?" She yawned, looking down at the trio.
"Come down, it's an emergency!" Renny said, having gathered some curious cats wanting to know what the commotion is about.
Spike heard the urgency in the alchemist's voice and quickly jumped to the ground, alert and ready.
"What's the issue? What happened?" She asked, looking around.
"We don't have much time before this place collapses. I'm going to open a portal and have the village evacuate," Renny replied, Spike squeaking in alarm.
"Hold on, can I see this world? I might be able to make portals too," Lucerne offered, taking Renny's attention.
She looking at him for a moment before nodding, spilling a vial on the ground for the portal.
"Thank you, I'll be back quickly," the celestial said before leaving.
"Evacuate?" A voice questioned. A middle aged prophet who's fur on his chin almost looked like a beard, dull greyish purple fur and striking bright blue eyes. He looked confused and concerned, a few other cats around him nodding.
"Sorry but this place is unstable," Renny started, walking toward them as Lucerne returned. "It's going to collaspe and everyone needs to leave before it does, otherwise you die," she finished bluntly, some of the cats looking afraid now.
"How do you know all this?" The prophet huffed, puffing out his chest.
"You can stay if you want to," the potion maker stated. "I'll see you running back when the place is falling apart."
The prophet looked taken aback, having no more words to say.
Renny shook her head and directed her attention to Lucerne. "All good?"
The celestial nodded, opening a portal next to himself. "All good, its a nice world. I'm sure the elementals would love it there," he complimented, almost as if he wanted to convince the others to listen and look for themselves.
"Is the world really going to collapse? How is that possible?" A male ground elemental meowed loudly, visably afraid.
"It's a long story, we can explain later as for we don't have the time!" Renny yelled back before anyone else could reply. Lucerne shrugged and motioned to the portal, offering it.
The elemental looked skeptical, still scared with his tail puffed out.
It came to Avaro's attention that most if not all of these cats had never stepped out of this world. Never been through a portal. Never aknowledged the fact the multiverse exists.
That might be an issue.
"It'll be fine, the portal would just take you to a nice place where you would be safe," Avaro started explaining mainly to the elemental, but made sure to make his voice loud enough for the others as well.
"There is no pain or anything when you go though. The only pain you would be getting is if you stayed,"
The elemental didnt like that last comment. He quickly padded over to the blue portal and sniffed it, tail twitching.
"If a bunch of kits died because they couldn't get through the portal in time it'll be your fault!" Renny unexpectedly remarked, her usual fun self gone.
"It's the stress, she wants action, things done. Not everyone standing around looking at each other," Avaro concluded, watching the elemental's eyes widen in horror before he jumped through the portal. His tail whisking away.
At this point more cats were awake and gathering, the news spreading quickly.
"It's today?!" A small voice yelped. Avaro spotting a scrawny ice elemental squeezing out from between two scowling bulky Wild cats. "I thought there was more time!" She exclaimed before bounding over to the portal and hopping through.
He recognized her as Permafrost. One of the few remaining ice elementals and the one he and Lucerne spoke to the day before. They lived near the river since it was the coldest part of the village, spending most of the day just laying in the water. No wonder he'd hardly seen any. The only ice elementals he'd ever seen were the strong ones who were able to withstand the heat and get food. The rest either dealing with soggy prey or eating at night.
"We don't have time to stand around!" Renny announced as she opened a second portal. "You're either staying to die or going to a better and more safer home!" She turned to Avaro and Spike. "You two can go spread the news, get more cats to come. Try and avoid Zeru as much as possible," Renny ordered. Avaro nodded and hurried off, pushing pass the sudden increase in cats heading toward the portals. Spike having gone a different way, leaving him all alone.
Avaro's first instinct was to find Blaze. He needed to know she was going to be safe, yet he had no idea where to look for her. Where did the fire elementals usually sleep?
And idea sparked in his mind and he headed for the main clearing. The center of the village, open with no trees. No shade.
It wasn't until he reached it when he realized. It was still super early. No one was awake besides the ones awoken by Renny's commotion.
"Great, awesome," Avaro huffed aloud, heading to the river. The ice elementals should be waking up by now. Permafrost must've been heading to the river herself before being interrupted by Renny.
Upon reaching the river, he headed downstream. There was more shade down there while the water elementals were more upstream.
Sure enough he spotted clumps of white, grey, and blue fur in the water.
"Excuse me!" He called out, waving a hand and slightly jogging the rest of the way down.
Only one cat was awake as she looked up at him, irritated she was just woken up on the verge of sleep.
"Sorry for interrupting but I need you all to listen," Avaro said as he stopped.
"Are you the reason Permafrost never made it back?" The ice cat mumbled, waving her tail as it floated on top of the water.
"Uh, yeah actually. We're evacuating everyone at the den hollow, she'd already left," he replied, motioning upstream. "I just thought I'd tell you all now before it gets hotter,"
The elemental stared at him. "Is this about the suppose world collapsing she told us?"
"Yeah,"
"Bullshit," she dunked her head and came back up, shaking and yawning. "I'll be there in a second. I'll wake the others,"
"Oh, uh alright," Avaro nodded, having expected her to dismiss him with how she acted.
"You can go now, I'm sure you need to wake up a lot more cats from their beauty sleep," the ice elemental meowed as she got up, her thick fur heavy with water.
"You sure you don't need any assistance?"
"I'm not a dying old elder you know," she hisses back.
"Right, sorry, thank you for understanding!" Avaro said before turning back upstream, hoping the ice cat would actually wake her friend and leave.
He made his way back up, continuing in hoped of running across some water elementals. To his luck, he did.
Avaro told the three early bird water elementals the situation, getting some skepticism, but they overall agreed to go.
Too easy.
He'd expect Zeru to come out of the blue and ruin his luck streak. But the giant pink cat was no where to be seen.
He did sleep outside of the village after all.
Avaro felt even luckier.
He headed to the shaded prey hole, catching some hunters and hungry cats. He got a bit more hostile responses from the Wild cats, but they all again agreed to go. Most likely just to see the commotion and hear what others have to say. Avaro had no problem with that.
He continued scouring the village for earlier risers, at this point just telling them there was a commotion they needed to get to. Renny and other cats would fill them in on the details.
Though, despite all the cats Avaro found. He still couldn't find Blaze. There was something about that cat where she was always gone when needed.
Avaro sighed and leaned against a tree to catch his breath. The sun was much higher now, maybe an hour had passed. He'd had nothing to eat for breakfast and Zeru was still no where to be seen, nor any other cats of his kind.
He remembered last night and frowned, Fuchsia must have went straight to bed. Not informing her dad on anything. Perhaps that was planned for the morning, too late for that.
Maybe Avaro didn't ruin the plan after all.
Yeah he was feeling a bit too lucky. Something was bound to go wrong soon.
Avaro tried to shrug off the uneasy feeling as he spotted another cat, quickly flagging them down and directing them away. How many cats had gone through the portal? How many were left?
Avaro knew there must be some cats out hunting, but he wasn't about to go find them. He'll just have to hope they come back soon.
Avaro wanted to get something to eat as he walked, but felt there was no time. Evacuation was top priority at the moment.
Something pink snagged his attention, Avaro whipping around. He was just as big as Zeru but... It wasn't Zeru. If Avaro remembered correctly, this was Bob. Zeru's friend. Stripe's father.
He'd completely forgotten he'd existed. Was he on the same side as Zeru and Fuchsia?
Avaro should've learned the last time he tried talking to someone close to Zeru. Yet here was, walking to the pink cat.
Bob was heading to a large tree, yawning and looking tired like everyone else Avaro met.
"Hey!" The dragon called out, stopping the cat. Bob looked over and blinked in confusion, as if not used to being aknowledged.
"Yes?" He asked.
"We're evacuating the village at the den hollow, the world is going to collaspe," Avaro said coldly, daring Bob to try and stop him.
"Collaspe? Oh... Alright, I'll tell people to leave," Bob replied, yawning and stretching.
"Wait, really?!" Avaro exclaimed. "Just like that?! You're not going to ask me why?! Tell me I should tell Zeru or something?!"
Bob scowled and shook his head. "Zeru doesn't like being told what to do. I just avoid him most of the time and listens to what he says. It's easier to live like that,"
"So you never question his judgement?!"
"I do sometimes, I can still get angry, but he's much stronger than me, thinking all he ever does is right," Bob sighed, shrugging.
Avaro stared at him, having found an unexpected ally. "So if I said he cant be leader no more, would you agree?" He asked.
"Things would be better if he wasn't leader honestly," Bob replied.
"So you want to be leader?"
"No, I just want to sleep and eat,"
"That's pretty boring," Avaro frowned, trying to scan the cat's face for any hidden sneaky emotions. But Bob just looked tired. Either he was good at concealing his expressions, or genuinely believes what he is saying.
"So you're going to help us?" Avaro questioned, still uncertain.
"If I get a better life afterwards, sure. Zeru and I have just gotten so distant recently. It's hard to still call him a friend," the pink feline sighed before padding off. "I'm tired of being bossed around by him..."
Avaro watched him go, still processing. He had no idea Bob felt that way.
"I'm not going to complain, free ally," Avaro grinned, but it faded quickly.
With all this luck, something was for sure going to go wrong.
