It took almost an hour, if not more, to get all the groups of cats separated into their respective areas. The Wild cats being the most stubborn. Avaro suggested Lucerne to announce the crash, portraying it as tragic that Zeru was left behind. Lucerne trying hard to find him but only managing a lost kit.
It worked well to get the Wild cats to listen, but also bring Avaro's attention to Fuchsia and her family. They had all made it through with Bob.
Fuchsia looked horrified at the news, her dad dying in the collapsed world.
Avaro was tempted to call her out for her what she'd done. Accuse her for working with the enemy, attacking him.
"It's not worth it," he started repeated in his head, heading to Renny.
"Renny," Avaro nudged her, the potion maker yelping.
"Oh! It's you! What do you need now?" She asked.
"Are my clothes clean? I don't know how much longer I can keep my pants up before they fall down," Avaro chuckled. "I'm surprised they lasted this long after two transforms,"
Renny made a slight frown at the sad remains of her spare shirt. "I'm sure they've been done for awhile now, I'll go get them," she said before leaving, mumbling something about needing more portal vials.
Avaro waited there, Lucerne spotting him and heading over. "Everything okay?" He asked, Spike behind him.
"Renny is getting our clothes back since, well," Avaro lifted up the ragged mess, Spike snorting.
"Ah I see," Lucerne nodded, understanding.
"The elementals are ready to head out, I think Sunset might need you soon," he explained while Avaro balled up the shirt.
"Well she'll have to wait for now. Unless she wants me walking around in my birthday suit," the dragon said in response. Lucerne shook his head quickly. "I'm sure she can wait, no need for that."
Avaro chucked and shrugged. "So how do we explain this place though? I don't think anyone remembers living here," he asked.
"I don't think anyone who lived here are even alive anymore," Spike commented, finally speaking.
"Yeah, we plan on getting everyone to their home and explaining everything," Lucerne lowered his voice. "That way they can take a liking to the place and trust us more,"
"Oooh... Hey why am I the only one who's didn't know this sooner?!" Avaro demanded, frowning.
"Why do you think I came here? I just found out!" Lucerne huffed.
"Alright, makes sense," the dragon laughed, patting his friend's shoulder.
A portal opened next to them, announcing Renny's return. Her arms full of neatly folded clothes, half of them being covered in glowing white spots. "Got them," she exclaimed.
"You didn't have to fold them you know," Avaro said, taking his clothes.
"But I wanted to, so deal with is," Renny replied before handing Lucerne his clothing.
"Thank you," the celestial nodded, examining the fresh clothes.
"Well I'll be back," Avaro said before heading off to change.
He was beyond relieved to finally wear comfortable fresh clothing. No more overstretched pants or torn shirt.
"I guess I'll give these back," Avaro muttered to himself as he gathered up the ruined clothes, bundling them up.
By the time he made it back, it was quiet. Sunset's voice ringing with orders.
"The Ice elementals will be escorted first, for obvious reasons," she yowled, glancing at the group of what Avaro could only assume were the ice cats.
"Avaro will escort the Wind elementals. Lucerne will escort the Electric elementals. Renny will remain behind to give help when she can,"
"Like I know where to take the Wind elementals," Avaro thought with alarm, feeling put on the spot. Commotion started up as Sunset fell silent.
Avaro took a chance and searched for the old fire element, hoping to at least get directions.
Apparently, she was looking for him fo that exact reason.
"Avaro! There you are, feeling better?" Sunset asked, sliding to him.
"A lot better. Head still hurts but that's about it," he chuckled. "So what do I-"
"There's twin mountains nearby, you can't miss it," Sunset interrupted. "One has thick clouds, don't go there. That's for the electric elementals,"
Avaro shivered. "Does Lucerne have to fly into that?! Wouldn't it be dangerous?" He cried.
"No, I have never heard of anyone getting electrocuted besides the electric elementals," the old cat shook her head. "Except the elementals themselves, they use it to recharge. None of them here can discharge more than a spark,"
"Oh..." Avaro still felt uncertain, but trusted Sunset. No point in arguing.
"So I just have to find the wind elementals and..?"
"Fly them to the mountain. They all have wings, same with the electrics," Sunset explained. "Shouldn't be too hard,"
"Alright," Avaro nodded before walking off, searching for the group. If he remembered correctly, wind elementals were mostly white, grey, dark teal, and sky blue in color. Swirl or streak patters on their fur, sometimes both.
It didn't take long for him to find a group matching that description.
An impatient cluster of cats, looking around and ruffling their wings.
"Over here!" Avaro waved for attention, jogging up to them. "I'm Avaro,"
"Are we really getting a new home?" A dark teal elemental squeaked, blue swirls on his cheeks.
"Yeah, you're going to love it," Avaro replied with a kind grin, making the group exchange quick words with each other.
"Anyone need help flying though? Damaged wing? Too young?" He asked, scanning the crowd.
Many cats shuffled uncomfortably, worrying Avaro. He could only carry so many cats as a dragon.
"Well about that..." A large sky blue cat meowed. "We don't fly often, the highest we even flown was maybe from tree to tree,"
Avaro's jaw dropped. "You guys never just, fly around? Just for the fun of it?"
"Some do, but we usually stay on the ground with the others or work," he answered with a sheepish shrug.
"Oh great ancestors," Avaro sighed, motioning the cats to follow him. "Come with me," he said, walking over to a more open area of the clearing.
"Space out you guys, I need to see what we're working with," Avaro ordered, walking between cats and spreading them out.
"Alright now, flap your wings, stretch them out a bit before we leave," he said as he backed away to watch.
The cats obeyed and Avaro immediately noticed an issue.
The wings of the elementals were much smaller than what he was used to. For a wind elemental their wings were noticably small. Smaller than both OStar's and Estella's wings.
"Can they even fly at all? Did Sunset even notice this issue?" Avaro thought, waving his hands to get them to stop.
"We'll just have to try..."
"Alright guys, just follow my lead and be careful. It's hard to take off but once you get into the sky it becomes a breeze. Pun intended," Avaro spoke, spreading his own wings and taking to the air. He flapped quickly, rising up while the sounds of many wingbeats below chased him.
Avaro glanced down, maybe two or three elementals were flapping to him, all the rest were struggling. Getting tired before they even reached the tree tops.
"Come on!" Avaro shouted. "You just need to get out of the dead air! The wind currents up here will help you fly easier!"
Two more elementals managed to join him, circling around with the others and also shouting encouragement.
One by one, the wind elementals made it to the sky, getting cheers for each arrival.
In that time Avaro had scouted the are, having spotted the unmistakable mountains. One, sure enough, cloaked with dark clouds circling around its peak.
"Everyone ready?" He asked, getting a lot of positive answer.
"Alright! We're heading there!" Avaro pointed to the cloudless mountain.
"There?!" A dark blue, streaked with green and light blue cat yelped. "That looks so far away!"
Avaro frowned. "I'm sure it would only take us about an hour with breaks," he said.
A murmur of disagreement floated around, some cats glancing back down.
"Come on guys, you're wind elementals! This is where you basically belong!" Avaro exclaimed.
Still uncertainty on the cats faces.
"He's right!" The sky blue elemental from before spoke up. "Why are we crying about flying? We should be happy! We're finally in the air!"
"I'm sure we can make it to the mountain," the small dark teal cat meowed, clearly already struggling in the air.
"It'll be your new home! Aren't any of you excited?" Avaro asked.
Some cats nodded, but others still looked skeptical.
"What about the others? The other elementals?" One questioned, a shade of washed out blue and streaks of white on her face, almost like whiskers.
"You can visit them anytime you want, live with them if you want to. This place is just ideal for your kind," Avaro answered. "Just like how water elementals would probably have a home near or in water,"
"Are you sure it's safe?" She continued.
Avaro nodded. "Positive,"
Murmurs of cats circulated before they all faced him. "Lead the way," the sky blue cat meowed.
Avaro grinned, his chest swelling up with pride. "Let's go!" He exclaimed, flipping and flying off.
Avaro stayed ahead, occasionally a wind elemental would fly next to him and cat, but it didn't last long. The wind elementals had spent too long not flying. They weren't used to flying long distances, most were saving their breath and focusing.
About halfway there, Avaro was forced to stop when a cat nearly fell out of the sky in exhaustion. The sky blue cat named Jetstream being the one warning Avaro, mentioning the cat dipping frequently.
Landing was a difficulty, no clearings nearby and Avaro didn't want to risk any elementals passing out. He resorted to a small gap in the trees, directing cats to go one by one.
"It's easy, just close your wings enough to avoid any big branches. Small twigs and leaves wont hurt you," he explained, the tired cat practically falling through the hole.
"Please make sure they're okay," Avaro pleaded as Jetstream dove down.
It was easy getting all cats through, most likely due to the fact they were tired, but everyone made it down safety.
"You all did a great job!" Avaro praised, getting weak cheers in response.
"Rest now, you all went a lot farther than I thought. You should be proud,"
Jetstream walked to him, certainly the strongest of all wind elementals. "Most of us haven't eaten today, I am going to hunt," he meowed, his tail twitching.
"Haven't eaten?" Avaro frowned, his stomach growing at the mention of food.
"I don't think much of us have ate. The evacuation was sudden and early. Before most of had breakfast," Jetstream sighed.
"I'll help you hunt, it's a new world. Who knows what's out there," Avaro offered, the elemental looking grateful.
"Alright, sure," he accepted, padding off. The dragon quickly followed, shifting into his half dragon form.
The new world was very lively. It didn't take long for the pair to get a few kills. A strange deer, two strange giant squirrels, and what Avaro could only assume to be a rat. All having different traits than the old forest.
"They smell alright, not toxic or anything. I'm sure we can take these back to eat," Jetstream purred, picking up the rat.
"Alright, I'm sure the others will be grateful," Avaro said, tossing the deer onto his back and taking both the squirrels.
The elementals were more that grateful, they were overjoyed to finally eat. Jetstream having left to hunt for even more without Avaro's knowledge.
"I could've helped you!" Avaro scolded as the big cat drug a large deer. "What if you got hurt or lost?"
"I am no kit, no need to fuss over me," Jetstream meowed before returning to the prey. Avaro huffed, but apologized. When everyone, including himself, had finished eating. Everyone agreed to continue, new energy from a full belly.
The take off was easy, the flight was easy, the climb was difficult.
Despite the full bellies, none of the cats were used to high altitudes. Even if the mountain was not nearly as big as the top of Queen Celia's palace.
Avaro was forced to land near the middle of the mountains, letting the elementals have another break.
Even Jetstream was gasping.
"It's not that high..." Avaro frowned, keeping his thoughts to himself.
"How are you not tired?" Cirrus, the cat with the whisker like streaks, panted to the albino.
"I am used to flying, especially really high, you guys will get used to it," Avaro replied with a shrug.
Cirrus nodded and laid down, catching her breath.
Avaro watched the skies, having spotted Lucerne's group awhile ago.
"Why couldn't we have just portaled them," Avaro sighed. His only guess was that Sunset wanted them to travel and get used to the world. Not cheat to the end. It somewhat made sense to him.
How many times was Avaro going to do this? Fire, water, and earth still needed their homes, as well as the prophets, wild, and Fuchsia's family. The day already looked half over.
About half an hour passed when the group continued, this time on foot. Trekking up the mountain.
Since they were no longer flying, the elementals had more time and energy to speak. Some were discussing what the new home would look like, worried how they will travel, wondering if Sunset truly is trustworthy.
Avaro said nothing, he didn't want to seem like he was evesdropping when he was.
"Almost there!" He announced after half an hour, seeing some kind of entrance up ahead.
Excited voices buzzed behind him, everyone quickening their pace.
"Hold on now stay behind me, I'll go in first," Avaro ordered, the wind elementals slowing down slightly.
He headed over to the hole, carved into the stone. Avaro knew this was what they was looking for, this is the Wind Elementals home.
