Samantha's POV
I glanced over to them once more before returning my attention to my drink as an unknown feeling surfaced in me and I quickly dismissed no-
"Who you keep looking at?" Ackeem asked, forcing my gaze to land on him.
"Nobody," I replied, feeling Tameka's eyes piercing into me but I ignored them while lifting my drink to take a well-deserved sip.
"You tired from work or something?" He asked and I chuckled, shaking my head in a silent gesture that said no. "You sure?"
"Yeah, I'm sure, why?"
"You just seem out of it tonight,"
"I'm just a little tipsy,"
"From one beer motherfucker?" He questioned laughing, clearly not believing me and I was about to answer him, but the feeling of a small weight on my back had me holding my words hostage as I turned around slightly alarmed only to see Destiny standing there.
"Hi goodnight," She called out, greeting Tameka and Ackeem and I smiled, finding her sense of politeness cute.
"Hi," Ackeem greeted back, allowing her gaze to return to me.
"Do you want to join us?" She asked and I turned to look at Ackeem in questioning, who immediately gave me the go-ahead.
"If you buy me a drink then yeah," I replied teasingly, making her smile.
"What are you drinking?"
"My usual," I replied referring to my bottle of red stripe and she smiled leading the way leaving me to trail happily.
"Is Mesi cool with me sitting with you guys?"
"Yeah, why are you asking?"
"No reason," I mumbled while lifting the bottle of alcohol to take a sip.
"You can go sit by the table, I'm going to get your red stripe," She expressed while motioning to the table by the window where Mesi was currently sitting and I nodded walking off.
I made my way over to the table with my mind immediately going to Mesi and me and I couldn't help but wonder if Destiny kn-
"You can relax, I told her," Mesi announced as I began sitting down and I chuckled.
"How you sure that was what I was thinking about?" I asked, appreciating her appearance.
"Your face is very expressive," She mumbled with a smile and I nodded in understanding as I placed my drink on the table.
"And Destiny is fine with that?" I questioned curiously.
"Yeah," She replied and I could tell there was more to her response but I decided not to ask.
"You like her don't you?" I asked and she captured my gaze in a revealing hold as her eyes searched mine.
"Yeah I do," She replied honestly and I nodded. "And so do you,"
"How are you so sure?"
"Like I said before, your face is very expressive," She replied and I smiled as I turned to see Destiny approaching us with a red stripe in hand.
"I'm guessing that's Ackeem and Tameka," Destiny pointed out the minute she arrived at the table, referring to the people I was standing with earlier as she placed the red stripe on the table before me.
"Yeah," I replied after saying a small thank you.
"Who?" Mesi asked curiously.
"The people she was standing with," Destiny responded for me.
"I'm sensing a story," Mesi announced amused and I smiled.
"Ackeem and I were best friends growing up and Tameka was my girlfriend, after I got locked up I found out that they were sleeping together behind my back the entire time and now they're a couple," I confessed and she released a small frown.
"And you're still friends?"
"Yeah, you know they might be a little bit fucked up but they're the closest thing I have to family, everybody else moved on," I explained facing the sad reality.
