Destiny's POV

A knock sounded on the door, and the echoing noise pulled a sigh from me as I forced myself off the couch while ignoring the voice that was currently begging me to pretend as if I wasn't home.

I began walking towards the source with the thought of wishing I had gone with Aliyah to the club standing in my head since there was nothing for me to do here but drown in unwanted thoughts; all of which held two common factors that seemingly held the power to alter my mood whether I allowed them to or not.

I moved closer looking through the peephole and a frown instantly sat on my face as I pulled open the door to see them both standing there.

"Hey," I greeted softly while trying to push away the slight anger that had built over the couple of days that had passed.

"Can we come in?" Mesi asked and I nodded, stepping to the side to allow them to enter even though a part of me wanted the complete opposite.

"Did you eat?" Sam asked as I closed the door while watching them both make their way into my kitchen before trailing behind.

"No," I replied and she nodded before turning to hold a bouquet of roses towards me that I was too caught up in my mind to notice earlier.

"What are these for?" I inquired with confusion present in my question.

"These are us saying we're sorry," She confessed and I took them reluctantly whilst overlooking her apologetic eyes.

"For what?"

"You know for what,"

"I don't," I replied and she sighed as I rested the flowers on the kitchen island with my gaze moving over to Mesi who looked very uncomfortable which wasn't really surprising since she lacked the willpower to hold any conversation centred around emotions.

"For not calling," Sam announced.

"Ok" I repeated looking down at the floor for a split second before returning my gaze to her.

"Ok?"

"Yeah we're just friends, it's not a big deal," I lied since it felt like the opposite.

"So we're forgiven?"

"Yeah," I replied and she frowned as she searched my eyes for hints of dishonesty.

"You okay?" She questioned and I nodded while diverting my gaze and letting out a small sigh.

"I'm fine,"

"You sure?" I heard Mesi ask and I nodded.

"What did you buy?" I asked softly since I was desperate for a change in subject as I glanced over to the bag that Mesi had placed on the kitchen island.

"Food and wine," She announced.

"Ok, can we eat then?" I asked hopefully and she nodded allowing the tension the conversation had created in me to disappear.

"I'm going to put my phone on charge," I expressed while moving to walk away since I needed a minute to settle the sense of confusion that had begun building in me.

Samantha's POV

"You good?" I asked, directing my attention to Mesi who had barely said a word since we got here.

"Yeah, I was just thinking," She uttered, meeting my gaze and I nodded since I knew there was more to it than she led on, there was a lot that went unsaid by them both but I made no move to question it with the knowledge of not really knowing what their emotional boundaries were playing in my head.

"I understand," I replied simply whilst moving to the cupboard to grab some plates.

"Understand what?" She asked softly and I took a deep breath.

"Not knowing how to understand your own feelings," I expressed as I removed three plates and three glasses.

"And what do you think I'm feeling?"

"To be honest, I don't know but it's evident you feeling something," I explained as I closed the cupboard before turning to face her while knowing deep down that it was probably centred around her emotions for Destiny.

"It's work," She announced after a couple of seconds of silence and her words had a short breathy laugh slipping from me.

"Ok," I responded even though I could sense that it was only a dishonest deflection but once again I decided not to push it.

"What?"

"Nothing," I replied smiling as she made her way over to me with the bag containing the food and wine.

"Do you think it's something else?" She asked, capturing my gaze as she placed the bag next to the plates on the counter.

"Yeah,"

"Like what?" She questioned as I leaned back against the counter with my height forcing her to tilt her head back to maintain eye contact since we were only standing a few inches apart.

"Like Destiny,"

"Only Destiny?" She questioned and I smiled, not being able to contain the action as I realised her silent motioning towards me.

"So I'm included in whatever got your talkative ass quiet?" I asked, earning a small laugh from her.

"Yes, you are,"

"How so?"

"Sam, I like you,"

"You like me?"

"Yeah and I like Destiny too," She added with her confession reflecting my own hidden secret.

"Really?" I asked and she nodded as footsteps sounded, leaving her gaze to move over to an approaching Destiny.

"I thought you were lost," Mesi announced as I began falling into my sea of thoughts.

"I couldn't find my charger," Destiny explained while moving over to us.

"What are we eating?"

"Jamaican food," Mesi voiced and she nodded as she moved over to the refrigerator a few steps away.

"You still upset?" Mesi asked as my mind continued to run wild.

"I was never upset," She replied while simultaneously placing the jug of juice on the counter before closing the refrigerator door.
