Chapter Twelve: It was never going to be what you expected it to be
Once Dennis gets home from the hotel, he walks inside where he's taken aback by the presence of a blatantly drunken Cassidy sitting on the couch watching a blank television screen. "Hey Cass. W-what are ya doing buddy?" Dennis asks in a gentle tone as he attentively walks over to him. Cass grabs Dennis by the hand before pulling him down beside him. "Oh Dennis. Hey. I'm not doing anything or anyone. What about you? Are you doing anything...or any people Dennis?" Cass questions drunkenly causing Dennis' cheeks to blush heavily as he chuckles nervously. "What-what are you talking about?" Dennis asks timidly. Cass frowns at him as a moment passes in silence. "I saw you today at the hotel..." Cass says angrily before pausing as he hiccups causing Dennis' smile to quickly fade into a serious expression. "Cass, oh...I..." Dennis stutters before Cass interrupts him. "Oh no. Don't explain to me. I already know everything I need to know. I don't need to hear the dirty dirty details about you and that woman with the pretty hair and little black dress. I don't even care!" "Wait. Are you talking about Rosanna? That's who you saw me with at the hotel?" Dennis asks. "Yes. I saw you touching her all caressingly and holding her hand before the two of you walked all leisurely into the hotel together." "Cass..." Dennis says before chuckling. "Rosanna is just a friend. Wait a minute. Were you stalking me or something?" Dennis questions with a confused look and a grin. Cass glances away with a guilty look. "No. Maybe. Look I'm not the one who should be explaining right now Dennis." Cass says with an angry expression. Dennis rolls his eyes. "Cass I already told you, she's just a friend." "I don't believe you." Cass replies while crossing his arms and turning away from Dennis. Dennis chuckles while scooting closer to Cass. "Okay. Then why don't you come out with me tonight and I'll introduce you to her. Then you'll see that you have nothing to worry about because I'm not lying, and I'm definitely not seeing anybody right now." Dennis says, earning a look from Cass as he turns back to face him. "Fine. You can invite her to the bar you work at tonight. I was already going to invite you there with me and Finn anyhow." Cass says before standing up and grabbing Dennis' hand before pulling him up the stairs. "Okay. Where are you taking me? Also I don't think my eighteen year old brother should be drinking, but okay." "I left my stupid jacket in your stupid surprisingly nice room." Cass says before pulling Dennis into his room and letting go of his hand. He then grabs his jacket and puts it on. Dennis immediately recognizes the jacket and wonders how he didn't notice that Cass wore it there last night. Dennis walks over to Cass and puts his hand on his shoulder before forcing him to turn toward him. Cass watches Dennis as he touches the jacket and runs his fingers along the seams where there used to be more buttons than there are now. "You brought your jacket." Dennis says just above a whisper. "Yeah." Cass says before rolling his eyes. "I did it to show you that I...am in love you-you fool, but you didn't even notice. Probably because you were too busy thinking about that girl with her tan skin and that face." Cass replies snappily. Dennis lets go of Cass' jacket while rolling his eyes. "Oh my god. I can't take this anymore..." Dennis says before pausing while taking Cass by the hand and pulling him toward the stairs.
"Come with me. I'll text Rosanna before we leave." Dennis says in an annoyed fashion wanting nothing more than to prove to Cass that he isn't sleeping with anyone. Once the boys get to the bottom of the staircase, Dennis forces Cass to stop as he takes notice of his little brother who's visibly intoxicated. Dennis pouts his lips absentmindedly before looking over at Cass just as Finn looks between them, observing the way they're holding hands. Cass shrugs at Dennis with an innocent look. "Really? Really Cass?" Dennis says just above a whisper knowing that he's been drinking with his underage brother. "Sorry." Cass whispers as Finn walks over to them. "Hey. What are you guys up to?" Finn asks before giving Cassidy a suspicious look. Cassie quickly looks away. "Well, I was going to introduce Cass to Rosanna. You remember her right, Finnie?" Dennis asks Finn, causing him to remember their old roommate as he also figures out that Cassidy must've told Dennis that they were spying on him earlier. "Wait. You mean..." Finn begins to say before Dennis interrupts him. "Good. You do remember. Anyways, I'll be home in a couple hours." Dennis says before pulling Cass toward the door. "Hey. Wait. Can I come with you? I'm supposed to meet Kurt and Scarlett there anyways." Finn says. Dennis gives him a suspicious look. "I never said where we're going..." Dennis replies before pausing as he looks between Cass and Finn while letting go of Cass' hand as he realizes that the two of them did more than just get wasted together today. They planned for this to happen. "Uh..." Finn mumbles before Dennis interrupts him. "Fine. You can come. You probably shouldn't be alone when you're like this anyhow." Dennis says in a frustrated manner visibly upset before rolling his eyes and walking out to the car. Cass and Finn follow him. They give each other a look as they both go to get into the passenger seat. "Oh no. I don't think so. You can both sit in the back." Dennis says angrily with a look of one hundred percent doneness. Finn and Cass share a look before getting into the back. They then drive to the bar. Dennis doesn't speak a word to either of them during the car ride or before getting out of the car and walking toward the bar's entrance. Cass and Finn follow him inside and over to a booth. Dennis watches them sit down. "I need a drink. You two, stay here." Dennis says before walking over to the bar where they see Rosanna approach him. They hug before beginning to talk privately with one another.
