The day after Cozen decided that Remi would be one of his numerous victims, they went to school.
Cozen waved at Remi while approaching him at the school's entrance. They were waiting to get in.
They talked for a few minutes before the school opened. Their conversation was nothing worth noting, except for one question that Remi did not expect.
"What makes you so sure that Carla will eventually be found? You don't even worry about it, like you had the certainty she'll come back. Do you know something more about the case that I don't know?"
Remi had a chill down his spine after hearing Cozen's question, and he seemed unusually shocked for about 2 seconds. He quickly took his composure back and replied:
"I don't know anything about her disappearance, but I know she'll come back. I know her so well, there is no way she would have left me like this."
"I never said she left you. She could have been kidnapped or drugged and taken way. I know you're not that dumb to actually have never thought about that.. so tell me, what more do you know about her disappearance? Why do you look so sure she'll come back?" replied Cozen. The answer made Remi start shaking in fear. He started getting more and more nervous.
"I just know she'll come back! I don't know anything more! What else should I tell you?!" Remi shouted at Cozen.
Cozen grinned. He knew Remi was lying.
"Alright alright.. I was just making sure, there was no need to shout at me." replied Cozen with an awfully calm and creepy tone of voice.
Remi was basically sweating. He was a bad liar and he didn't know how Cozen believed him either.
He looked away as the school bell rang. It was time to go to class.
The devil appeared while he was walking through the school's hallway and whispered to Remi:
"Did you miss me, Remi? You have done no killings recently or am I wrong? Aren't you wasting a little too much time?"
"I know I know, I was planning something for today." replied Remi. He looked pissed.
"Are you mad Remi? What's up? Having troubles hiding your little secret?" said the devil as he started maniacally laughing, making fun of him. "You are so pathetic! You're such a bad liar! Cozen knew you were hiding something, it was so painfully obvious! Hahahahah!"
"Shut the fuck up! Let me do what I have to do." shouted Remi. Everyone looked at him like he was crazy.
He became all red and ran towards his class.
EIGHTH VICTIM: Ken Torres, 19 years old, 5'6, thin, short black hair, brown eyes
Remi had the same old plan he was repeating since he killed the other 7 people: stalk the victim until they go home, break into their house, kill them and run away. There was nothing that could go wrong with his plan.. or so he thought.
School finished and Remi was trying to clear up his mind to avoid feeling guilty or feel remorse. He was taking this whole thing as an objective he had to reach, not as him murdering innocent people. He was fooling himself into thinking what he was doing was the rightest thing to do.
"Hey Remi, listen, I'm getting quite bored watching you stab them with a knife and ending the job quickly. Why don't you spice it up a little bit and get more creative?" whispered the devil into Remi's ear. He was grinning, as usual.
Remi did not answer. He didn't want to take it into consideration.
He saw Ken and started following him home. Cozen, which was right behind them, lost among all these students, looked at Remi and noticed he wasn't going his usual way home. He began to follow him without being noticed.
Ken entered the house and Remi, again, was looking for a way in. Cozen was looking from the distance.
"What is he doing?" thought Cozen, as he was hiding behind a lamppost nearby.
From the distance, he saw Remi opening up Ken's window and taking a knife in his hand.
Cozen was shocked. His eyes opened wide as he grinned for a second, before his expression went serious again.
30 minutes passed by.
Remi came out the house from the front door like nothing had ever happened and started running away. Cozen, intrigued, waited for Remi to go further away to then check in the house what happened.
Cozen opened the front door and.. he saw it.
He saw the atrocious scene right in front of his eyes. A whole family murdered, stabbed to death by a guy that looked so innocent and harmless. To such a scene, a psychopath like him could do nothing but laugh at what he was looking.
"Remi did all of this by himself? This guy is a threat to society and I must take care of him." said Cozen with a smile, admiring the scene with good taste.
Remi, after coming back home, during dinner he got asked by his mom why he was always about 1 hour late every time he came back from school. Remi answered:
"I have made a new friend and his name is Cozen. We usually hang out for 30 minutes before his parents come to school and bring him home."
"Really? You made a friend?! That's so nice to hear! We must celebrate this day!" shouted the mother jokingly, getting up from the chair as she started laughing.
Remi started laughing with her. Even though a laugh could not wash away the murders he had on his conscience, he felt free, almost as if he had never done anything.
Cozen, after coming home, started planning something..
