Chapter 11: Deceived

After Cozen had established that his potential new victim would be Remi, he still had to finish the job with another victim. Her name was Annie Robbins, 17 years old, long blonde straight hair, big green eyes, 5'3. She was considered the "prettiest girl in the school".

She became Cozen's target for the particular reason being her attitude and behavior. She rejected boys only by their looks in the meanest way possible. All of her exes boyfriends have had their private pictures leaked because "she felt like it". It didn't make sense in his eyes.

Cozen had noticed a weak spot in Annie. She had cuts and scars all over her thighs and arms. He deduced that she may have been gravely depressed and that, with a high chance, she needed someone who could make her feel better.

Cozen was particularly capable of acting and faking feelings. He knew he could exploit her weaknesses to finally put an end to her miserable life.

His plan began time ago. They had already talked before and Cozen was right; she indeed was depressed. She admitted it after he told her he had noticed the scars she had all over her arms and thighs. Cozen was great at noticing every little detail too.

After some months of talking, chatting and sometimes even flirting (even though Cozen didn't flirt with her for long since he didn't like it one bit), the day arrived. He reminded himself of all the informations he could use to exploit her and decided to begin with his plan.

"Hey, Annie" said Cozen while they both were walking through the school's hallway. He smiled.

"What's up?" replied Annie.

"I have to tell you something... really important. It means a lot to me." replied Cozen. His smile quickly vanished.

"Oh, you know I'm always here for you, you can tell me everything you want" replied Annie, as her expression quickly changed and showed all seriousness.

"Lately, I've not been feeling okay. It has been going on for months.. I can't keep going like this. I want to put an end to my life." said Cozen, as his expression showed nothing but sadness and sorrows.

Annie did not answer. She looked at him in the eyes and turned them back down to the floor, while they were still walking.

"I know you've been here too, and I know you're still thinking about it. Annie, listen, I'm going to be 100% for real with you.. I think I love you. I also know this is really unexpected but I wanted to say it, before ending my entire life." Cozen looked sad, but in the inside, he was holding back a wicked grin.

 Annie, again, didn't answer, but her eyes started watering.

"I.. I'm sorry, I shouldn't have said that.." said Cozen while looking up at the school's ceiling.

"There's no need to worry about it.. I feel the same way towards you, Cozen. I think I fell in love with you some time ago. I can't explain what it is about you, but I feel like you're the right one." replied Annie. She was about to burst into tears. Her voice was trembly and her eyes were watering.

Cozen smiled. It was a smile of relief, because now he knew his plan was working

"I'm glad to hear that. I also wanted to ask you something.." Cozen knew how easily he could manipulate her to do everything he wanted.

"I don't want to live anymore, but that doesn't mean I don't want to stay with you for eternity. I want to live with you forever, and there's only one way to do it." Cozen said while showing no emotion or whatsoever.

"What is it?" asked Annie.

"After school, we're going to end our lives together by jumping from a cliff nearby, and we're going to do it together, while holding hands. It will be a romantic way to go out and to stay together for eternity. No one will disturb our peace and we won't have to bear with our abusive parents anymore. What do you think about this deal, Annie? Don't you think it's one of the most romantic things a human could ever achieve?" proposed Cozen. His eyes brightened with passion and his voice showed great ardor.

"I.. I don't know if I want to do that.." replied Annie. She had noticed the passion and love Cozen put into proposing such thing, but she was still unsure.

"No need to worry darling, if I may call you like this. You have time to think about it. I'll wait for you at the school's gate." said Cozen, while barely smiling at her. Annie smirked when he called her darling.

"Alright, I'll let you know there. Now I have to go to math class. I'll see you later, bye bye!" said Annie as she started running towards the class.

Cozen bursted into a crazed laughter in front of everybody as soon as she got away enough to not be seen by his sight again. Everybody was looking at him like he had just escaped an asylum.

"I have almost done it! Finally! Such a society's reject is going to die thinking someone truly loves her! I am such a genius.. no one can compare to me!" thought Cozen while raising his gaze at the school's ceiling. 

Time flew by. It was time for Annie and Cozen to meet.

"I took my decision, Cozen." said Annie as soon as he saw him.

"I don't want to do it, I'm sorry. I can see how romantic it is but maybe I still have a reason to live for. I'm really really sorry but it's nothing I'm willing to do." 

Cozen was shocked. He didn't expect her to say no.

"I understand.. well, it doesn't matter. If living means I have to stay with you, I'll carry on, even though I don't see no light at the end of the tunnel, if you get what I'm saying." replied Cozen with a sad expression on his face. He had to think about something else, fast.

"You're such a charming and romantic guy Cozen, and I think you have a reason to live now.. and it's me" said Annie while smiling and letting out a little laugh, which Cozen reciprocated.

Cozen thought about something.

"Hey, want me to drive you home? I can give you a lift, I have my car right there." offered Cozen.

"Thank you for the offer but my home is really close, I can go there by walking" replied Annie.

"Oh, c'mon! Don't you want your new boyfriend to give you a lift home? With his new Mercedes? You're really rude, darling!" said Cozen jokingly.

"Mh.. I guess I could make one exception" replied Annie as she started walking towards the car, smiling.

Cozen smiled back. As always, it was a smile of relief, not a smile because he was happy about his new relationship.

"This bitch loves the money more than people.. all I needed to say to convince her was "I have a new Mercedes".. is she being serious? I won't go easy on her." thought Cozen.

Annie got into the car and Cozen started driving. She told her where she lived and he started going.

Before Cozen started driving, he put gloves on. He told her he put it because he hated germs. Annie bought that excuse.

He started going the "wrong way" and, even though Annie warned him, Cozen said she would arrive there anyways. Annie, again, bought that excuse.

Cozen drove up the hill.

"I'm sorry it had to end up like this, darling. We could have made this a little more.. "romantic", but a bitch like you deserves no pity from me" said Cozen as he took the chloroform and slept her. His tone of voice became aggressive and hostile.

"Wait wha-.." were her last words before falling asleep, forever. She got deceived by the person she thought was the "right one" the same day they got together. Her life couldn't have ended worst than this.

Cozen took her little body and threw it off the cliff, making it look like it was a suicide. He also took a piece of paper with her footprint on, faked her handwriting and wrote a death note, to then throw it off the cliff.

Cozen drove home while grinning and laughing, celebrating his victory by drinking Hennessy in his car and driving home as fast as he could.

Now, it finally came Remi's turn.
