"Buried and none of the living . . . The cemetery?"
It was a terrible idea but we all had that same suspicion of where the necklace could be.
After I got someone to cover for my shift with Ryan at the café with our week's salary, we met with the group outside and decided to take a visit to the nearest cemetery. (I know its not the smartest thing to do especially when there are monsters attacking you from nowhere but, eh).
It was quite a long walk under the late afternoon sun but fortunately, there weren't anything to stop us. No evil pigeons in sight.
Lyla and Ryan were asking about the project. Oliver did most of the talking. I was grateful that he left out the part where we thought I killed someone and decided to just leave him in the school halls.
I felt so bad about it even when Albert said that I saved him from what he thought was his end. He told us that the shadow came out of nowhere and messed with his head. Through his eyes, he was fighting back to the monster but turns out, he was fighting me.
He only knew it was me when I hit his head. His vision cleared but he still wasn't in control.
I sighed, calling for Astrum in my head.
They didn't answer which was odd because in the last couple of days, they wouldn't stop reminding me of the necklace I had to get. They were always in a hurry and had fear in their voices. I never knew they cared so much about me.
I scoffed. Ryan glanced at me like I'm crazy but didn't say anything.
I tried to imagine how the necklace would look according to what Astrum had told me.
A crystal pendant that have the color of the night sky. It wasn't some kind of bluish purple like my eyes. They said it was dark blue like a starry night with white dots sparkling like stars. It was shaped as a hexagon cylinder? That was pointed on both ends.
They called the crystal Aurora which was an amazing way to name a crystal by the way.
Silver was attached around one of the ends. It hang on a simple black leather cord that's long enough to reach your chest and together they called it a beacon.
Why a necklace would be called a beacon, I have no idea.
But, maybe it was a beacon of hope or something like that.
Then, my friends went silent.
Oliver furrowed his brows. "We're here."
We went in, passing through the ones living there and a few people who came for their loved ones.
Oliver lead us to where his parents were by the far side near the apartments - a wall of tombs where the poor bury the dead.
I shuddered.
Even at how hot it is in the country, I always felt so cold at a place like this.
"So . . ." Oliver gestured to the graves Janice and Mervin Fernandez. "Here they are."
He stared down with brown eyes so dark, it seemed black like everyone else.
Lyla came beside him and placed a hand on his shoulder. When he saw her, he took a deep breath and gave her a gentle smile.
I gulped. "Well, now what?"
I looked at Ryan and Tylor whose both furrowing their brows.
Now that they were side by side, I noticed similarities between them. Like the bridges of their noses, their eyes were a bit narrow, their haircuts were the same - only Tylor's hair grew longer - and the way they look when their thinking. They looked alike.
