I haven't seen Alani or her friends at school for the whole day. I knew that they're up to something. Something big and it won't be pretty.
I asked one of the teachers if the trio had any excuse but he just said that it was something about Kate's dead dad again. Ryan wanted to tell his father about that but as always, his dad didn't have time to talk.
But I had time to think of what exactly should my wish be. At first, I just wanted to wish my parents back but then I thought of saying "I wish life would be better for all of us." but it didn't make sense anymore.
I needed to be more specific too because I doubted whatever wish-granter was with the necklace will ever be fair. I thought of maybe asking for the strength to help everyone in need or that can Anthony just die already so I didn't have to worry.
In the end, it made my head throb and that last one made me want to feed myself to the monster child from yesterday.
"Don't expect too much from the wishes, Celestia." Astrum said. "Think of your wishes after you find the necklace."
Then, I heard Ryan say my name and I looked up from my hands to see Lyla and Oliver's worried faces while Tylor just grimaced at them.
"But, sir, Sky doesn't have a group." Ryan said. "Could she just join ours?"
"Yeah, sir." I said. "I'd love the grades."
Sir. Salazar frowned at me, clearly not believing it.
"Fine." he said. "I doubt she and her group even have a project. But you're up next to present. I just have to write your names first."
"When did we have a groups?" I whispered to Ryan while the teacher had turned.
"On Monday." He raised a brow at me. "Don't you remember?"
I tried to recall but the last few days were messy. How was I going to keep track of school groups?
On that day, I was actually grouped with Ryan, Lyla and Tylor. But Oliver was grouped with the villainess trio and I felt bad for him.
I think I asked sir. Salazar if I could swap with him, reasoning that he was new and all so I didn't want his grades getting lower on his first week especially since he would be focusing on catching up for three weeks. So, if I were right that would mean that my real group was with the villainess trio.
I sighed in relief.
I was lucky they didn't come to school.
Oliver stood up with his head low. "Sorry, sir . . . We forgot-"
"To bring it here!" I exclaimed while everyone turned their attention to me.
I cleared my throat and stood up as well. "What Oliver meant to say, sir, was that they forgot to bring the project. I think I saw you guys carrying something in . . ." I looked at Oliver.
"I-in a box." Oliver said. "Must be around the school."
"There!" I hit the back of Ryan's head. "I told you you forgot something!"
He glared at me and I immediately mouthed "stall".
Then I walked over to grab Oliver's wrist and drag him to the door. "Yeah, so can you please just excuse us. We'll go get it. It'll just be a couple of minutes."
I didn't wait for an answer and closed the door behind us.
We moved away and turned a corner. When I was sure we were far enough, I took a deep breath and ran a hand through my short hair.
