The two girls laid in silence on the beach, the full moon lighting up their surroundings. Waves came crashing to the surface, the both of them finding comfort in the silence.
Liv's hand rested upon Lia's, her thumb gently caressing the back of the blondes hand as she felt sympathy for the girl. She couldn't imagine the things the girl was feeling, nor would Lia speak up about it, "You know I love you, right?"
That sentence nearly scared Lia half to death, the girl ready to jump at any instant that she could confess to Olivia as she had been waiting for that for the past three hundred and ninety five days.
"You can tell me about anything, i'll be there to listen." The brunette followed up, crushing the hopes Lia had as the love was simply platonic. It was only ever going to be platonic. Hell, Lia was her first real heartbreak, she probably scarred the poor girl for life.
The blonde's chest rose as she took a deep breath, her head bobbing up and down in confirmation. "There's not much to say. We both were emotionally cheating on each other and it..." She struggled to find the right words, choking on her words as she not only lost her boyfriend, but one of her friends. "It wasn't healthy. I guess I finally realized that when he started calling the person I loved slurs."
Olivia's eyes didn't move from the girl, lingering as she felt so much pain for her. Her body moved closer, her hands snaking their way to her face as the two stated into each other for a moment.
Under the stars it felt like they were the only people in that moment. Nothing no longer mattered, nothing hurt anymore, there were no worries.
"I wish we never broke up." Lia whispered out of impulse, her heart racing from the adrenaline. There was a sense of relief the minute confusion was painted upon Olivia's face, not understanding the girls words.
"I thought you just said it was toxic?"
"No. I mean us. I wish I never broke up with you." Olivia's mouth began to drop the more she spoke. Lia couldn't help but to spill her guts at this moment, putting all her relationships on the line just in hopes she could have her life back. "I wish I didn't hurt you the way that I did."
Liv was a mess of emotions to say the least, her heart in so many different spots that she wasn't thinking straight when her lips fell upon Lia's, the taste of strawberry chapstick filling her mouth as flowers grew in the bottom of their stomachs.
"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have." Olivia apologized frantically, feeling terrible for taking advantage of Lia in her moment of weakness, the blonde protesting as she promised it was more than okay.
The two teenagers walked along the shoreline for an hour before they found themselves at a McDonalds at two a.m. Spending the rest of their time together not dwelling on the same things but rather how many fries they could fit in their mouths.
