PART 2They had ended up at the shelter like planned, Persephone's Beetle filled with shopping bags, boxes, as well as the receipts to the furniture they had bought for Lia's room.
Noel sat crisscrossed in front of one of the glass displays, fascinated by one of the baby corgis' that trotted around in its area. His lips curled into a smile as he placed his hand against the glass, the puppy running to him as it scratched at the wall that separated him.
"I definitely want to get her." Noel spoke, drawing the attention of the nearby girls who awed at the interaction they faced.
Lia sat beside him as she spoke to the baby, her voice higher pitched than normal, "Who's a good girl? You are! Yes you are!" Her smile turned into an exaggerated frown as she turned to her friends, holding her heart, "She's so cute, I can't."
Persephone let out a giggle as she played with Noel's white hair as she looked down at the boy, "Do you have any name ideas?"
"Hmm.. I was thinking Persephone?"
"You've got be kidding me!" She laughed at his suggestion, playfully messing up his hair as revenge, "You cannot name your dog after me!"
The boy laughed as Persephone tackled him to the ground, Lia leaving to allow them to have their moment together. From the next isle over she heard Noel try to defend himself, "I thought it was cute!"
"That's like... bad juju, Noel!"
The rest of the conversation faded out as Lia came across a calico kitten in a purple cage, the baby tackling a rainbow colored ball until she saw the girl who stood before her. The cat let out high pitched meows as she rubbed herself against the cage as to beg for affection, the workers allowing Lia to hold her as they explained that the animal had gone through some trauma.
Apparently, Deluge, the calico, was left under a porch during a rainstorm, her mother no where to be seen until she was rescued by their team. She currently suffers from anxiety and PTSD, much like Lia.
The spotted cat laid upon her, purring as her freshly manicured nails scratched under the kittens neck. The pink nosed animal used Lia's hand to pet her even more, the poor animal starved for loved.
The three friends decided to adopt both animals Lia and Noel were interested, as well as another cat who was a five year old british short hair who was also adored by the calico.
They finally made their way back to the apartment, setting up a temporary room for Lia so she could stay the night in her own home. Though it was bare, there was a mattress with white sheets and comforter along with pillows. Fake vines already lined her ceiling as a sun tapestry, some of her art work and tarot cards had already put up as well as her lesbian flag. The only source of light in her room was these tiny fairy light balls that illuminated the entire room, multiple settings on the remote to dim the lights as well as change the colors to an array of them. The real plants she bought laid on the wooden ground, unable to be properly displayed due to the shipment of the furniture not arriving until tomorrow. Her records, as well as books, and her player sat along with the plants, no energy in the girl to hang up the records on her wall.
She finally collapsed in her bed, her new kitten, Madeline, mads for short, laid with her as the blonde had been told to keep her isolated for around a month due to how overwhelming it would be for her to adjust to a new place due to her trauma.
