                                                  Dream's POV

My head is stranded in thought, trying my best to converse with the new coder.

The past week and a half has been packed with texts going back and forth from us.

"I thought it would be cool if we got to know each other a bit more than before before you made your way to the US. What are some of your hobbies?" I type out letter by letter.

Raising my fingers to wipe the dripping sweat from the heat off my face.

Grasping on to the pencil in my hand, it spins across my finger, stabilising on my knuckle.

I turn my phone down, giving a little pat to patches on her head.

The table begins to vibrate from my phone, startling us both.

"Well, I would say I like coding but that would be too easy."

I scoff. Before typing out my response I get back another message.

"I like playing video games and watching movies. Things I did as a kid you know? What about you?"

I let a brief smile spread across my lips.

"That's good to hear, looks like you'll be set over here in Florida. Love them too. I'm into writing and doodling if that's anything. Fun fact: I have a cat. Hope you're not scared or allergic."

"Cool, me too! Do you have any family in Florida?"

"Yep, the whole gang's here! Do you have the same in England?"

Cringing at my use of words, I scrunch my nose ready to delete the message.

"Yeah, same. Though my dad left a while ago."

"Oh, I'm sorry to hear that."

"No it's alright, he was a bit of a dick so the house was nicer without him."

My expression softens, shoulders sag.

"Well at least you're doing better now. If you don't mind me asking, he wasn't abusive or anything right?"

Before I realised what I had sent, knowing that it would be a private matter, my idiotic self decided to send it anyway.

The small dots on the screen kept flashing back and forth, stopped typing every few seconds. Like he needed a moment to think about what he should say.

"Well it depends how you look at it. He never hit me or anything. It was more his words. Said things that have made a dent. Even though he's gone for good now, I still think he's going to come back one day and ruin what I've built in life.

Surprised by getting a genuine answer, I struggled to create a sincere apology without it sounding like the words he's probably heard a hundred times telling the same story.

Before I could stiff out a reply, another message pops up.

"Sorry for dumping this on you haha, just nice to get that out. Probably for the best that you know why sometimes I might be a bit harsh."
