Kay just woke up.He started looking around the house, and recognized the room he loved. The little child saw Amy sitting on a chair next to the fireplace. He smiled.
Kay rested his eyes on the person who saved his life, and then looked at the window. It was dark outside. The silence was making him wonder why none of them had enough courage to meet each other's eyes.
Maybe all of the things that happened to her..Maybe they froze her heart and now she was trying to thaw it.He nodded and placed his head on the hot pillow again. Her beauty was really mysterious and her glade eyes were showing tons of memories. They were whispering him stories without any words.
She didn't seem to feel anything.Or maybe she was only missing someone.
Missing someone too much. Her hurt eyes moved a little bit and met the child's eyes.He smiled and she smiled back.
And then, she let her head fall on her shoulder.
"You kinda remember me of him."
She finally said and turned her eyes back to the fire.
It was freezing cold outside.Snow was falling from the dark sky, while the moon was watching the sleeping world.
Kay moved his eyes back to the fire and stared and the red flames that looked like they were about to go and hug the hurt hedgehog. But they couldn't do anything to make her happy like how she used to be.
"Who's him?"Kay asked.
He always tried to avoid talking about things like that because he knew it was hurting her.But this time, his curiosity made him ask the question he had in his heart for so many months.
Who was that 'him'?"He always heard her crying over someone. She told him she missed him.But she never actually told him why she was hurting. And Kay decided it was the right time to know.
She didn't respond fast. She just sighed and continued staring at the fire.
"He was the one who lit me up,and then froze my heart."
Kay didn't understand a thing,but he didn't complain.
"He is the one I love."
Love. The fatal flow. The word that destroyed Amy's life and then came back to heal it.
"Love?"
"Yes.Love."
They kept quiet for a little bit.Kay admired the little hedgehog's beauty for some long moments.
"That him was lucky to have her."he thought.
He was right. The pink hedgehog was perfect. She was wearing a long dress and her quills were up in a ponytail.
"He left me almost year ago."
Kay suddenly realized why she was always telling him she missed someone. That person passed away..
"And since the day when his green eyes stopped showing life,my heart broke."
Kay looked down. Now he understood what she was feeling.
"And I suffered a lot.More that I ever imagined."
"One night,I decided I couldn't wait any longer to meet him and tried to take my life."
Kay's eyes were fully opened now.She tried to take her life?
"And right in the moment when I was about to do it,you appeared in my life."
Kay remembered about the night they met.So when she asked him what was wrong, she wasn't doing well.
"Thank you."
She broke the peaceful silence.
"Thank you for making me stay.I didn't want to die,I was just scared to keep living.I'm disappointed in what I wanted to do,but I kind of understand what I needed at the time."
She moved her eyes to the little boy.She smiled and stood up.
"Thank you."
She stayed like this and didn't say anything. She was just staring at Kay.
He stood and ran to the woman who saved his life.
Maybe they saved each other's lives.
Without even knowing. He hugged her legs, and then she fell on her knees to see his face better. She placed her hands on his little cheeks and smiled.
"I love you so much,Kay."
He let a tear fall on her cheek but she immediately wiped it with her shy finger."More than you think."
"I love you too!"
He hugged her and played with her quills. His hands were so little comparing to hers.
"Remember the wish I made in the forest?"
Kay didn't say anything.
"I want you to call me mommy.I'm sorry for not being able to show you more love or things a healthy and happy mom does, but I still want to be a good mother to you.Let's pretend we're okay and we're a happy family, please. That's all me and Sonic ever wanted.A family together.Sadly he couldn't have it,but he let me know how being a parent feels like. All I want is to make you happy, exactly like how he made me feel."
"Thank you,mommy."
Amy smiled.
"Those words made my soul happy,my sweet little wolf."she said and hugged him tighter.
"You make me happier."he said and kissed her cheek.
"No,you!"she said and stood up with the child in her arms.
"Come on, buddy.Starting now,we're mother and son,Kay!"
The little child rested his head on Amy's chest. This is all he wanted.A mother.
And he got the best mother he ever wished for.
Now imagine this.
A hedgehog holding a wolf in her arms, crying next to the fireplace that showed them lost memories of unconditional love. They were hurt, but each other's tears were healing their heart.
Her pain was healing his pain.
And his tears were thawing her frozen heart.
