The next morning, you don't wake up to Loki, no, the space beside you is empty, and you can smell the faint aroma of bacon. Rubbing the sleep out of your eyes, you venture downstairs. Loki is wearing a t-shirt that you're certain belongs to your dad, along with a pair of sweats. You tilt your head. He's also sporting an apron that says kiss the cook. Your mother says something to him, and he smiles, flipping the bacon.
He catches sight of you from the side.
"Finally, she's awake. With all your snoring I'm surprised I was able to get any sleep."
"I don't snore!"
He grins again, placing the freshly cooked bacon strips on a plate.
"Have a seat, help yourself."
He's strangely really good at this whole domestic life. Your mother moves to get a drink from the fridge just as your dad walks in. "Good morning sweetie." He presses a kiss on your head as he takes a seat. "Loki is quite the handyman. He fixed the broken pipe in the back like it was nothing."
"Just doing what I can Mr. Godfrey."
"Please, call me John."
"Alright John."
This was getting too weird. Why did this feel like a meet and greet to introduce your parents to your new boyfriend?
"Can Loki and I speak for a moment?"
"Sure honey."
Loki places the spatula down and walks out with you.
"Are you kidding me, what are you doing!!"
"Getting acquainted with your parents. You did tell me to be on my best behavior, I'm just respecting your wishes."
"Stop making them like you so much!!"
"I don't see the harm in making a good impression. "
"Loki."
He raises his hands. "Fine. I just figured if you were about to drill them, this would ease the process. They aren't bad, and to think I was considering execution."
The minute he volunteered to come you should have expected the headache.
"And take off that apron, you look ridiculous."
"I kind of like it actually."
"John!" your mother's cry makes you race back into the kitchen.
"What's wrong!" your father is leaning on the counter for support, but he waves his hand in an attempt to assure you he's okay.
"It's okay, just a headache. I'll be fine." Elizabeth looks way too worried for it just to be a headache.
Loki is standing behind you now, and all appears well unto his feet buckle. He lets out a gasp, and your eyes widen when you see his clothing change in a light that starts straight from his neck, right down to his feet. He's wearing that green outfit he uses for training, designed with pieces of gold and green. The shock is apparent on your mother's face, and Loki drops to the floor with a yell.
"Oh god, what's going on!" You look between your father and Loki. When John's eyes lift they glow green and you flinch. "H-He's trying to read my mind.." Loki grunts.
"What.." John closes his eyes, and the light vanishes, Loki looks like he's finally able to breathe easy. John straightens, and you kneel to make sure Loki's unharmed. He takes your arm, lifting into a sitting position and you scan over his body before your eyes move back to his face.
"I'm okay." He assures. His breathing is still trying to regulate back to it's normal pace. John's eyes are pinned to Loki.
"You aren't human." He states. Your head darts back to your dad. Your mother swallows, and it's then you understand. It's now or never.
"Neither am I, right." you ask. His eyes wavers, and your mother looks about ready to cry.
"I'm sorry sweetheart."
A simple apology won't be enough.
