Washington, DC

"Elizabeth, have you seen my keys, I thought I left it on the dresser."

"Check your back pocket!"

He pats his pants, smiling.

"You're a lifesaver." He says as she comes around the corner. She pressed a kiss to his cheek.

"Try not to lose anything else." She advises. "I'll do my best." With his coffee in one hand and keys in the other, he was about ready to head to work. All he got was a step before the cup dropped from his hand. He froze, and Elizabeth panicked.

"John!!!" She was used to these kinds of episodes. Unlike her own abilities, they weren't something that always happened consciously. They'd been lucky in their lives, because of his age it could have been easily mistaken for a chronic disease, or even a seizure. Bystanders were none the wiser. She braced her hand on his shoulder, watching helplessly at the tears that streamed down his cheek. He wasn't truly crying, he appeared normal, but the drops wouldn't stop. He touched his cheeks in shock, looking down at the floor.

"My girl is...she's in pain.." His fists tightened and a vase on the counter broke. Elizabeth flinched, leaning him on the wall.

"We have to go, we need to get to New York now." Elizabeth stated. The fastest way was by plane, but being around so many people in his state, that was definitely a recipe for disaster.

John's eyes moved to the door, and it flung open. Both parents looked over at the dark haired god who'd stumbled at the sudden action. He stood at the entrance, mouth open.

"Take me to her." Loki nods.

John forced himself upright, wiping his eyes, and he offered a smile to his wife.

"This time, we'll protect her."

They had to.

"I couldn't stop him, he was going off about her father. " Bruce was filling Tony in on all that transpired. It took a while to get the city under control, and two of his suits were still back in LA assisting with residual damage. Wanda and Vision were doing a reckon and Steve helped with search parties for people unaccounted for.

Now standing in the tower was Tony, Thor, Natasha and Bruce. He'd race over the moment he could. There were still parts of what occurred that he couldn't truly understand. But he felt responsible. This was his fault. He selfishly kept pushing, despite your constant refusals. He was forcing you to become a hero, and now you were comatose possibly permanently.

"He must have found a way to help her." Natasha speaks.

There was still partial doubt on which side Loki was on, what she was positive of, is his care for you. Loki wasn't the type to get attached. Especially with any of them. But she noticed the way he was with you. Even when the two of you were fighting, there was a care, no a longing in his eyes. She's seen many sides of him, but never a need for another person.

"Who's to say he didn't take my jet to go on another rampage." Tony hissed. One city was already facing disaster, he couldn't deal with another.

"I'm not."

Loki paced into the room, all of them turning when they saw two other people with him. Tony's eyes stayed fixed on the older man. He bore a remarkable resemblance to you. Hair and all.

The minute John saw your body on the bed, he could feel a piece of himself break. His steps slowed and all three avengers took a step back to offer them space. Elizabeth took your hand, squeezing it in hopes she'd feel even a twitch back.

Nothing.

"My baby.."

She was fighting to keep it together on the jet. Now it felt pointless to pretend she wasn't devastated.

John placed both hands on your cheeks, inhaling heavily. He just stared. Somehow this felt like payback for the truth he'd kept from you.

Maybe if they'd taught you to control your abilities better, you wouldn't be in such a state. Closing his eyes, he tried to track you. He needed to figure out the state of your mind if there was even a chance to wake you up.

"Come on sweetheart, show me where you are."
