"Finally over!"

Alice was as excited as a teenager on the weekend.

"So are you ready for the club? Jess and Charlie are coming too." Stepping out of the elevator that led to the garage, you spin your keys absentmindedly.

"I'm sorry Alice but I'm exhausted."

"Boooooo!" you grin,

"Next time, promise."

"Fine, but you better not back out." She jumps into her car, taking off with a wave. You move to your own, pulling out your keys.

"(Y/N)!"

Looking back, you search for the source of the voice. The parking lot was empty.

"The hell.."

That wasn't the first weird thing to happen today either. Speeding to your car, you open the door and jump inside. Once you're in, you lock the doors, taking a breath.

"I need a break." Maybe you were just overworked. There was a quick solution to that. You flick your wrist. "Eight thirty, I can still get there in time." The chinese restaurant on the corner on third street selled the best sweet and sour chicken. A nice meal and a long bath was exactly what you needed.

"Here I come!" You could already taste the chicken. Pulling out of the driveway, you completely miss the flash of green that erpurts right behind your vehicle, dissipating just as quickly as it rose.

~The Next Morning~

Ding!

The chime from your phone goes off, and you stretch from your position at the desk, grabbing your phone as you keep your eyes planted on your computer screen. You open the message, chancing a look down.

"Hope you're having a better morning than me."

It's a picture of Alice, still wearing the outfit you assume she had on last night, if her running mascara is any indication. Typing back a response, you chuckle. Boy did you not miss the hangovers.

Dumping the phone into your lap, you get back to work. You just have a few more things to finish off then you can fully enjoy your weekend. So you work briskly. After a wonderful dinner and soothing bath last night, you felt like a new person. You woke up early, knocking out the majority of your reports to help ease the load when you got back in on Monday.

"And....done!" you submit the email, shutting your laptop.

"Freedom!!"

It's silly to yell that in your apartment, no doubt your neighbors would think you're mad, but you don't really care. Since you're free, you might as well relish in it. You grab your phone, and a book you'd been meaning to start, heading to the cafe. If you were lucky enough, you might see the handsome stranger. You aren't sure what his schedule is like, you'd only ever seen him a couple times that week, but you're hoping that this might be the day.

~~~~~
It's a pretty short drive to the cafe. The first thing you look for is your handsome stranger, but he's nowhere in sight. Your face falls just a little, heading to order your drink and take a seat.
"Maybe I'll see him next week."
Ordering the latte, you wait patiently. As soon as you have it, you're searching for a seat. You get one at the back, sitting and opening your book with a smile. People bustle in and out of the store periodically, and you flip your page, fully engrossed in the storyline.
"One caramel frappuccino!"
"Is this seat taken?" The british accent catches you a little off guard, and you haven't even looked up but you shake your head.
"All yours buddy." You finally look at him and you feel like swallowing your tongue. He smiles, the same one you've been seeing all week. Those dark locks look dangerously soft. And those blue eyes, geez!
"It's a pleasure to finally meet you." His voice is as smooth as honey. You fight back choking, because you'd made the mistake of taking a sip of your drink to calm yourself. It does the complete opposite, and you cough, placing it down. Your book follows, placing it on the table in front of you.
"H-Hi uh Hey.." you're terribly awkward, and you're praying that a meteor would just crash into the building to put you out of your misery.
"I'm Tom. " He holds out his hand for you to shake, and you take it, giving a little shake.
"(Y/N), it's nice to meet you. "
"Likewise." He's still wearing a smile, and it makes you swoon internally. You don't really understand why you're having such a strong reaction. He isn't the first guy you thought was attractive, it's not even truly his looks. There is something different about the energy he's giving off.
"This might sound like a horrible pick up line but have we met before?" Your brain has no recollection of meeting him, but you have to ask. He just feels so familiar.
"I don't believe so, however I'm glad we're finally acquainted." you blush, and he leans a bit closer, folding his hands on the table. "I'm sorry if I'm making you uncomfortable, truthfully I've been meaning to talk with you. I always ended up talking myself out of it. "
"You're kidding.." He shakes his head. "Is that bad?"
"N-No it's just, I've kinda been having the same problem." You reply shyly.
"Really?" His eyes brightened, and it's so cute to you.
"Really. My best friend has been begging me to just talk with you, but I kind of figured you were already, you know, taken."
Looking at him it's crazy to think he might be single.
"I assure you I'm one hundred percent available." He winks, and your blush darkens.
"T-That's good."
"It is." There's a moment of silence, and you swallow.
"Would you like to have dinner with me sometime?"
"Would you like to have dinner with me sometime?"
The fact that you both asked the same question, it causes a smile on both sides.
"I'd love to." You both reply simultaneously. He blinks, letting out a chuckle.
"I'm glad I decided to come in early today." you speak.
"So am I."
The weekend was already off to an amazing start.
~~~~~

"How long has it been?"

"Just two hours."

Tony replies to Thor. John and Loki have been completely unmoving since he touched your head. Waiting, that was the worst part, especially since they have no way to tell just what's going on. Bruce is keeping track of your vitals, just in case. Natasha is sitting a short distance away with her face in her hands.

"What if they can't bring her back." She's never been one to cave under dire circumstances, but this time it's a little too close to home. You were her friend, someone she tried her hardest to shield from some of the things they dealt with. You weren't that much younger than all of them, yet whenever you were around, she didn't feel like the assassin she was trained to be. She felt like a person. Now she's sitting in a chair hoping for a miracle. They all are.

"He'll bring her back." Thor has faith in his brother.

Natasha wishes she could feel just a bit of what Thor seems to have.
