"(Y/N)! Wake up!"

You squint, turning over on the bed.

"Alice?" The blond grins, throwing a pillow at your face.

"Geez every Friday it's the same thing. What would you do without me (Y/N)."

"I try not to think about such devastating things." you joke. Your roll over, stretching and Alice continues to pick up the rest of your pillows to use as ammunition.

"Stop messing around, you have ten minutes!!"

"Fine, stop throwing shit at me!" you jump off the bed heading for the bathroom. Right before you enter, your eyes catch a reflection in the mirror. For a brief second you pause, and you feel a bit lightheaded. Staggering back Alice walks a bit closer. "You okay?"

"Y-Yeah, I think maybe I just stood up too fast. " You shake it off, opening the door and stepping in.

"Nine minutes!!"

~~~~~~
Alice was right, it was a wonder you ever made it on Fridays. Something about your body just screamed to sleep in those days. A bit strange, but it was Friday. Not exactly unheard of. Dropping into your seat, you log into your account, sifting through your work for the day.
Alice sipped at her latte, nudging your chair.
"So, did you get his number this time?" you flush, typing on your keyboard furiously. For the past week you'd been eyeing a man you'd seen become a regular at your favorite cafe. You really just wanted to ask him out, but your courage seemed to dwindle the minute you'd buzzed by the door. He'd send you a little smile which you returned shyly before sprinting out.
"I'm sure he has a girlfriend, Alice." She groaned.
"How would you know, you've never said two words to him."
"Quit slacking off Godfrey!"
The yell of your supervisor made you lower your head. Alice sent a glare in the direction of the male. "Just got promoted and he thinks he's hot shit now. They don't pay us enough to handle this crap." Alice complained.
"Programming is basically child's play in the modern world Alice, almost anyone can do it. "
"True, still, wish I were that rich guy who invented the internet. I'd just vacation on an island somewhere, or buy an island. " Her eyes brightened and you giggled.
"If you do get rich don't forget your best friend. " She scoffs.
"I will never forget my cutie Leo."
"Wow, true friendship."
"My dog comes first, sorry (Y/N)." The banter between you two continues as you work. The only time your gaze really strays is when a taller male walks down the aisle. The long dark hair catches your attention and you stand. "Excuse me sir," He turns, and you stop.
"Did you need something?"
"O-Oh, no sorry. I thought you were somebody else. "
~~~~~

John's eyes spring open.

"What did you see!!" Loki is eager for any kind of news. He needs that assurance that you're going to make it through this. That he'll be able to listen to your clever comebacks to all his sarcastic statements.

"Honey?" Elizabeth urges, taking John's hand.

"I think we've all underestimated just what (Y/N) is capable of."

Tony didn't like the sound of that.

"Have you ever heard of disassociation?" Steve nods.

"Soldiers use it to withstand intense interrogations."

"That's right. The purpose is to remain firm even under the worst forms of interrogation methods. (Y/N) is displaying the very same. That amount of power was too much for both her brain and body. She's in excruciating pain right now. Her body has completely shut down in order to separate the pain. She's purposely created a fantasy in her mind to deviate the toll her body has taken. "

"But it's impossible for her body to sustain that kind of pressure. "Bruce inputs.

"Exactly." John's hands are shaking as he looks down at his daughter.

"If we don't find a way to get her consciousness out, my baby girl is going to die."

"That can't be.." Loki wasn't sure what to believe in anymore. He'd finally allowed himself to feel, and this was rewarded. A front row seat to watching you die with no way to help. A fitting punishment he supposed. Karma for his past sins. The ones he'd been trying so hard to atone for, because you thought he could. You saw more than a power driven god.

"So that's it then, we just sit back and watch her die." He moved back, yelling angrily, the table in his way being shoved back by the force of magic. It smacked right into the wall, the contents that lay on top crashing to the floor.

"Calm down brother."

"DON'T TELL ME TO CALM DOWN!!"

There were very rare moments where Loki's magic would slip off the surface. The wave he released sent a jolt that slid over your body. They all flinched at the pulse, and Bruce panicked for a second. "Are you trying to kill her!!" The readings on the screen spiked, and Loki rushed to your side.

"No.."

John's eyes studied the response you had.

"Loki."

He was the answer. As a telepath, there were certain barriers he couldn't pass. His first attempt had been to reach in and pull you out, but you were in a trance, much like a dream. So rather than trying to pull from the outside, he needed to persuade you from inside.

"You can save her." Loki stares.

"What did you say? "

"Your abilities are mind bound, like my own. Like (Y/N). If I project you into her consciousness, then we can save her. "

Loki didn't even question further, holding out his hands. "Do it."

"You can't just go playing around in her head. What if you get trapped there too, then what? " Bruce reasoned.

"Will this save her?"

"This is our best shot." John didn't want to give him false hope, and Bruce wasn't wrong. If Loki ended up trapped, they'd both be goners. It was selfish, but this was his child. If it were possible for him to do it alone, he would have gone without a heartbeat.

"Then we're doing it." Loki's mind was already made up. He didn't want numbers or calculations on all the ways this could go wrong. He needed to see you again. Whatever way he could. Even if it came at the expense of his own life.

"Please." He was begging. Everyone in the room didn't have much of a say in it.

"Be careful," Thor advised. He placed a hand on Loki's shoulder, a brief pat.

"Hopefully this isn't the last we'll see of each other." Loki gave a smile, a genuine one, then turned back to John.

"I'm ready."

Elizabeth pulled up a seat, Natasha getting another placing it right beside your bed. They both sat down.

John placed one hand over Loki's arm, the other on top of your forehead, closing his eyes, Loki following suit.

This would work.

"It will."
