Techno had always been an only child. He enjoyed the comfortable privilages that came with this what he called blessing.

The silence in the huge palace halls, his fathers full attention and the guarantee for the throne.

He used to long for company most days when he was younger but he had grown to love the lonely times. Focusing on his duties as crown prince and filling the silence with self composed melodies on his violin.

On rare occasions Phil would join him, playing along in beautiful duetts for hours at a time. Techno treasured those nights. The rare alone times without the stress of ruling a kingdom and the chance to have company that understands him.

It had been long since the last time to got to do it, most days Techno would play on his own. Like this day.

He didn't hear the soft footsteps approaching his room over the sound of his violin. It was only when he felt like someone was watching him when he lost concentration and messed up the melody.

"Beautiful." Techno turned his head in a quick motion at hearing Phil's voice.

"You should join me again some time." Both men smiled slightly at each other.

"If only they'd let me."

Techno knew he was talking about the kingdom. It's been stressful recently with the growing poverty amongst the citizens.

"Get ready." The winged man was already on his way out in the hallway again. "We're going in the town today."

Techno nodded shortly putting his bow and violin away gently and grabbing a coat hanging by the door.

Phil had already left him so he took his time to wander around the palace again. The hallway leading to his room was something he never seemed to notice really. The walls were covered in a deep green colour and his ancestors smiled down at him from paintings rowed all the way down the hallway.

The only sounds he heard was the familliar clattering of his jewelry as he made his way towards a staircase.

He took the longer way around the inner gardenhouse of the palace, stopping shortly at an overgrown balkony. It was always a beautiful sight. The dark oak outlinging covered in various shades of green and blue. Overgrown with ivy and exotic flowers Philza had brought home from his trips to visit other kingdoms.

The piglin hybrid hurried away from the balkony and finally down into another hallway. This one led through the greenhouse directly into the throne room. Techno had always had a special appreciation for flowers. He didn't particularly know where it came from but flowers had always fascinated him.

He hadn't even noticed that he had stopped in his tracks to take in the fascinating scenery.

I should go here more often...

The piglin hybrid mumbled to no one but himself and the gods.

He made his way through the greenhouse and finally into the last hallway before the throne room. He greeted the few guards standing infront of the heavy wooden door.

"Morning sir Techno."

Techno nodded at them briefly and walked through the entrance.

"There you are." Phil shot a warm smile at him. "We should leave, wouldn't want to be late for the market."

Techno followed him out through a back door, leading the two men to a narrow path away from the castle. It was a quiet walk. Neither of them had much to say or ask the other, or at least didn't want to say it out loud.

Techno had multiple questions burning under his skin, but not wanting to disturb the comfortable silence between them, ignored them.

Until Phil was the one to break that silence.

"You okay mate?"

Techno looked at him slightly confused, tilting his head a little.

"You've been awefully quiet today."

The piglin nodded. "I'm doing good Phil, don't worry about me."

Phil didn't seem too convinced but let it slide this time.

"Though..."

Techno tried to find the right way to phrase the questions running through his head.

"I do have a question."

Phil slowed down a bit to look at him properly.

"Ask away."

Techno studied his face for a while but couldn't find anything other than genuine interest and that all too familiar warm smile.

"Why are we doing this exactly? Visiting the town I mean. It's not like anything has changed since the last time we went."

The last time they had visited was about a month ago.

"You'd be surprised." Was all Phil replied as he kept walking towards the town centre.

Techno picked up his pace to keep up with the winged man.

The first thing Techno noticed as they got closer was the noise. Towns people telling each other about their day, children laughing and various animals running around the fountain in the middle of the square.

Techno was used to the comfortable quietness of the palace. Rarely anyone dared to disturb it other than himself and his violin. But the town was different. Full of life and happiness. Techno would've lied if he said he wasn't surprised at how at home he felt. How welcoming and calming the energy in the villiage was.

And that's when he saw him. A certain brunett with glasses, carrying a sack of potatoes while yelling at his younger brother to stay close. Techno had never seen him before, yet his face looked so awefully familliar that he couldn't take his eyes off of him.

He didn't even notice when that same man ran into him, dropping all of his potatoes on the ground, ready to yell at whoever was in his way.
