Third person-no PoV.

Ameli stiffens at the sound of her surname used on another first name. Several emotions flicker across her face. Guilt? Fury? Surprise? Relief? Then, nothing. A mask of calm spreads across her features as she walks over to the map of her territory. Mike and Ann share a worried glance as Julian and Radley share a puzzled one.

"We'll ambush them between Newtonmore and Kingussie. Gather the pack warriors." She turns to Julian, then looks up to Radley, doubt flickering on her face. "Gather yours too."

Twenty minutes later, both of the pack's warriors are packing their bags and waiting outside. Ameli approaches Radley quietly as he is bent over his duffel.

"Tell me, Radley, why are no women in your pack warriors?"

The huge bulk of muscle that is the Beta grunts, then turns around and faces Ameli.

"Because in our pack, women weren't trained to fight, before we had to come here and you ruined everything." He smiles in a sickly manner as Ameli's eyes flash silver, so fast that if Radley blinked, he would have missed it.

"Right. So what about your Luna? She can fight." Her eyes clearly show challenge, and though it was their first conversation, something warned him not to hide anything from her, as she didn't seem the kind of person to give up if someone wasn't to answer a question.

"Alpha Julian wanted her to know self defence." His answers were short and curt, obviously not wanting to hold a conversation with her. She presses on, trying to worm information out of his arrogant, chauvinistic demeanour.

She looked at him with scorn. "And you supported this?"

He grins in reply. "The Alpha wasn't too keen on it, but he needed a reminder which gender was dominant."

At his words Ameli throws a punch at his face. Her grimace of loathing is enough to tell him that she wanted a fight; he blocks and takes up a defensive stance. She mirrors him, trying to find a weak spot. He does the same, until she relaxes and started to walk away. Seizing the opportunity, Radley swings his closed fist between her shoulder blades. Fast as lightning, she grabs his arm, spins around and hooks her leg over it. Pulling down sharply, she feels his bones snap with a satisfying 'crack'. He sags to the floor, cradling his now useless arm. The small crowd that had formed around the two duelling wolves surges forward to help him, but Ameli growls lowly. They backed away, and she walks menacingly towards him.

Pushing her knee on the weak spot on his neck, she grins as he arches with pain. "Remember class, girls are just as good as boys, because some boys tend to think they are better, but in reality, we are equal. Got it?"

Radley looks up at her, a sneer lining his features and he answers with a high pitched

"Oh yes miss Alpha miss."

"Good." She waves to the crowd. "CLASS DISMISSED!"

Ameli's PoV

Clutching at the leaves of the tree I am hiding in, I watch vehicles speed by. Four, six, no, seven cars pull over to the hard shoulder in the lane heading in the other direction from us. Nodding at Theo and Ann to the left of me, and Julian at my immediate right, we swiftly clamber onto the bridge that will take us over to the Rogues. As we're running over the rickety frame, men start to pour out of the cars. I suck in a breath when I see him,the guilt like a sucker punch to my stomach. The anguish only hardens my resolve. I don't know him anymore. Our group of warriors push on, gaining on their retreating backs.
