(Still in flashback)
An alpha is supposed to protect his pack. I snort internally. I could do a better Job than that.

'We could do a better job than that.'

A warm feeling spreads through my veins. My wolf is talking to me! Why did she come early, though?

'Have you noticed that when Werewolves feel strong emotions, their wolves come to the surface? Over the past ten minutes, you have felt fear, rage and betrayal. That was enough to awaken me early.'

When I hear the world 'betrayal,' the fury that I had temporarily forgotten was back, in my stomach, in throat, in my heart.

Discreetly turning my body so that I was facing the group, I open one eye to try and find way of escape. I could try to find help by navigating through the twisted maze that is the forest, or I could go against a group of twenty trained, full grown, ruthless werewolves.

I, of course, take the least logical option. That or my wolf has corrupted my brain. Probably the second one.

'HEY!'

Silently standing up, I watch them for a minute as they gather around Kain. They are clapping him on the back, congratulating him. He seems to have done something while I had zoned out. Something clatters out of his hands, catching he light of he early dust on a silver blade. I catch a glimpse of my parents through the small crowd and bite back a gasp. When I arrived, both of my parents were slumped over, unconscious. Now I can see mother, sat up and sobbing. A temporary wave of relief rushes through me before I glimpse my father. Lying on the ground, unmoving and covered in blood.

Dead.

I feel pure rage taking over my very being, itching my skin and burning my eyes. Collapsing to the muddy floor to the clearing, I attempt to claw my way towards him. The itching of the fury in my body has changed. Pain. Pure, agonising pain. I arch my back as I hear my own bones breaking. The sickening feeling of my hair retreating back into my scalp is accompanied with the horrible experience of the cartilage in my ears moving to the top of my head rips a wild, feral scream from my throat. I curl up on the spot, giving up on trying to reach my sorry excuse for a brother, noticing he is coming towards me with his filthy gang of mutts.

Through the haze of pain, I can hear him chuckle. Where was he caring man that held my hand, less than half an hour ago? The man that would bake pancakes for me when I was sick?

'He was never that man.'

I want to scream again, the pain becoming too much for my human body, but a howl is drawn out instead. Shocked, I look down upon my body, finding that my pretty lilac skirt replaced with white and grey fur.

Stumbling to my feet, I see the Rogues back away in fear. Apart from one. The one I wanted most.

My eyes are level with his midsection and he smirks at me. I tear my claws into his flesh, drawing a satisfying yell from his throat. Backing up, he prepares to shift into his wolf. Before the astoundingly quick change is over, I lunge towards his bulky figure again, lodging my sharp teeth into his arm. Kain flings me aside and I am once again lying at the foot of a tree. He paces menacingly towards me, saliva dripping from his snarl and feral instinct clear in his eyes.

The rest of the fight is a blur, and before I know it I am pinned below my ex brother, his canines inches from my throat. I glare into his eyes steadily, not submitting. Having watched the pack warriors train for a while had shown me that when you have clearly lost, you submit.

I will not go down without a struggle. I flip myself over so I am pinning him down, and rake my sharp claws down his sides, over his hind legs and the nape of his neck.

Without looking back, I run to Juliette, rip her bonds and grip her sobbing body in my mouth. Using my claws to rip through my mothers weak chains,I growl at her. She looks up sorrow and submission in her eyes, with a hint of something else. Pride? She straightens up and runs alongside me, her bare feet not once wavering as we run from from our torn family members.

*Flashback Over*

"Yes. I'll admit it, Kain. You ruined our family." I smirk, putting up a brave facade. "If I remember correctly, you were also beaten to a pulp by a twelve year old" I then gesture to myself.

"If you want a rematch, we should at least make the terms. So that when you're dead, your pack have someone to run to."

I narrow my eyes at him, him visibly gulping when he sees the silver in my eyes.

"When you lose, I want to have you, your "Beta," third and their mates. Yours, if you have one too." He rolls his eyes.

"Well, well, well. Those are pretty drastic terms." He sighs and pretends to think for a moment. He snaps his bony fingers and his hazel eyes light light up with malice. "I want all the women in your pack to return with us if you lose."

Inwardly, I am doubled over with mirth. Firstly, he doesn't understand that the majority of the females in our pack are warriors, stellar ones at that.

Secondly, he doesn't know that for the past ten years, I have been training.

A lot.
