Secrets

I was breathless after Harden left my room. I heard my father enter the house moments later and make his way into the kitchen. He began to tell my mother about his day at wok. I listened closely to hear any updates about the rogue clan coming through. "They have isolated a man in Oregon who has connections. I will be escorting him back to the reservation for questioning." I made my way downstairs at the sound of the news. I peaked into the kitchen to see my mother frowning. "You are leaving? For how long?" She sighed and turned to hug him. He opened his arms to her small frame and held her for a moment. I coughed to let them know I was there.
"I could ear you Ella. Not as sneaky as you thought huh?" For a moment I was shocked thinking he meant he heard Harden. But then his face resolved into a smile. "It's true. We have new information." I sighed relieved he didn't know my secret. "We found a member of their clan that left many years ago. He has information as to where they are staying. We are escorting him to the cabin to be questioned." I was worried that my father would be escorting one of them. It sickened me thinking of it's red eyes. The eyes of a killer. "What can I do to help?" I asked eager to fulfill my duties. "Head to the pack house with me after dinner and we can talk to Alpha Black together." I nodded in agreement and set the table for dinner. We ate in silence again as my father and I fueled up for an important mission.
We both transitioned and made our ways to the back of the pack house where the others waited in wolf form, for us. My father stepped up and linked the others. I have brought Ella to be apart of the guard detail with Kota. He bowed his head to the Alpha. He nodded his head in agreement. Here is the plan. His voice boomed in our heads. Claymore and Spur will head to the extraction point. They will escort this blood sucker to the cabin outside of the reservation. we can not allow this monster near our families. Kota and Ella will be the guards while we get prepare to invade the rogue clan's hide out. The warriors will assist in the invasion and the healers will be on stand by. Everyone has their jobs now go. My father and Gamma Spur ran towards the forest and disappeared. Kota lead me to the cabin.
We shifted in silence and redressed in the cabin alone. It was a studio with only a small kitchen and a bed in the corner. It was meant to be a safe place to transition before returning to the reservation. We had several of them out there. I sat on the bed and waited for Kota to finish dressing. I could see the ripple of his back muscles as he stretched a thin white shirt on. His biceps bulged from under the shirt. He sensed my stares and turned towards me. Ella... He was growling low and even. It wasn't one meant to scare me off. He was inviting me in. He stepped towards me. "Ella..." He said out loud this time. Hearing him say my name was almost pure joy. But a sense of dread washed over me as Harden's face flashed in my mind. I looked away from him. I was ashamed of myself, ashamed of my desires. I wanted to badly to push Harden away. To lead the life I was meant to have.
My desire for Harden was stronger than any other urge I've had. I needed to come clean. Spill my secrets. Not to the future Alpha, but to my best friend. Tears welled in my eyes as I shielded myself from Kota's view. The tears were flowing freely now and he made his way to me sitting on the opposite end of the bed. "Ella I'm sorry, I know how you feel about my advances. It's not ideal. But we are two unmated, imprint free wolves. We are best friends. It makes sense that I would fall in love with a beautiful woman like you." Days ago I would have melted at this speech. Been complete putty in his hands. But now I was sobbing harder. "Kota." I said weakly meeting his glance. "I have imprinted on some one." I was free. The secret was out. Well half of the secret was out. Maybe he could just accept it and let it go. Maybe nothing had to change. We could still be friends. I could still be his Gamma. A new Luna would emerge. She would be everything he ever wanted.
Kota looked lost in thought. His brow furrowed as he stood up and began pacing. Tears where still falling from my eyes and sliding down my face. I was a complete mess. "With who." This wasn't a question. He was using his Alpha dominance. He was demanding answers. "That's not important. You've never met him." As the words left my mouth I saw him wince. He was hurt. I began sobbing at that point, terrified I was about to lose my best friend. "I didn't want to hurt you." I choked out. "We both knew it was possible. That we could find other people. That we could imprint, and find a mate. Kota please. We are best friends. I cant live without you." His face was pained. He finally stopped pacing and sat down on the bed with me. He pulled me into his arms. "You are my best friend Ella. I never thought I'd do life without you. I am happy you have imprinted. It truly is a rare thing now a days. I wont stop you from being happy. All I ever wanted was your happiness."
I began to relax as the tears dried on my cheeks. I sat up trying to regain my composure. As I did my father linked to me. We have the blood sucker and we are headed your way. Ready the chains. I stood up swiftly and opened the door. The air was cool and let in a nice draft. Kota brought a chair from behind the old shack. It was laced with chains and looked very old He sat it in the middle of the room and went outside to start a fire. This vamp was going to give us all of his information and then die. We walked in circles around the shack setting up for a nice night of torture.
    I sensed my father getting closer to our location. I linked him. We have the shack ready. Kota began grinning from ear to ear. He was excited to be on his first mission, his first kill. My father had killed many before tonight. It was time to pass the reigns to someone new. Alpha Black thinks of this as a right of passage. Everyone in his pack hierarchy had to have at least one body to join. Our treaties protected humans but the cold ones weren't human anymore. I wondered which blood sucker would be mine before becoming Gamma.
